[Things have been a bit hectic at the Vesperia home lately. Not in any busy way, just in all the changes that have occurred lately, and have kept Ioder from focusing on much aside from home and work. But it's finally starting to settle back in to something resembling normalcy, even if it probably isn't ever going to be as "normal" as it was when Yuri or even Estelle and Rita were around.

But today Ioder is out of the house and work, and at his heels as he walks around Vatheon are the two golden retriever puppies he adopted some time ago. They're growing up fast, but surprisingly well trained. He doesn't even have them on leashes as they follow him obediently, stopping when he stops and being friendly with everyone that stops to say hello.]

[He's fine with that, really. He knows his name is kind of ridiculous, but that's what happens when you're saddled with the Heurassien family name.]

Have you been here long?

Only about a month, to be honest, though it feels like it's barely been any time at all. How about you?

Over a year. I arrived late last winter.

[There was a quiet laugh from Ioder as he added:]

I kind of feel like I've gotten too used to this place, when it feels like I've been here forever.

[paladaddy]

You're still pretty young, so a year definitely would feel like a long time. It's even harder here, where it's difficult to keep track of the time.

Young? ... I suppose nineteen would still be considered young, yes. But you're absolutely right, it's very difficult to keep track of time here.

Especially since it's so easy to fall in to a very... domestic way of life.

[paladaddy]

...You're nineteen.

[He was totally guessing fifteen, based on Ioder's looks.]

[Ioder just blinks at that, slowly and in obvious confusion.]

... yes. Is there a problem?

Nah, there's nothing wrong with it, you're just older than I thought.

Oh! I see! I get that a lot.

[Ioder smiles brightly, not taking any offense to the assumption.]

I suppose you'd be just as surprised if I told you I'm an emperor.

[paladaddy]

...You're an emperor.

[Translation: Yes. Shiro is surprised.]

Yes. Recently appointed. ... well, in my world I was. I've been here over a year so I suppose it's not so recent to me anymore.

[Timey whimey stuff. Always fun.]

If it's any consolation, it's rare in Ilyccia for anyone to be appointed as young as I was, but the previous emperor died unexpectedly and there was a ten year period where the council was mostly in charge along with the Commandant of the Royal Knights before I was even old enough to be considered.
