[With Zelos practically banning him from the host club premises for the evening, Guy has this peculiar holiday all for special purposes. It's not as though he needs a special day to do something for Zelda, really, but he doesn't mind. The head of Golden Victory had invited them to partake in the festivities, but as much as the both of them could handle it on a normal basis, Guy was pretty sure a social call wouldn't exactly make for a completely comfortable evening. Besides, he has something a little more special planned.

It had been on his mind for a little while, even more so with the events that had occurred only a week ago. It would be a lie to say thinking about things didn't still rattle him, but that was besides the point. Holiday or otherwise, someone here deserved a special bit of thanks... and hey, the markings of the day just gave even more of an excuse for the man to make an effort.

An effort it is indeed. In fact, he's not around much of the morning, other than getting up fairly early to slip a note into the apartment door.]

Zelda:

Happy Valentine's Day, and good morning! I know I've been hard to catch lately, but don't worry. There's a reason for that.

Anyways, I've got something to show you! I'll be stopping by this evening, around 6. Let me know if that won't work.

[Wear something she loves. Something she loves? She doesn't have any clothing in particular she loves! Does he mean something formal? Does he mean something decidedly not formal? WHAT DOES HE MEAN?!

Zelda hurries back home, digging around both for something appropriate and something fitted enough to clearly show the spell she's been working on. The halter dress is considered briefly as fitting both criteria before being rejected wholeheartedly. She's a lady. The sweetheart neckline dress Kanaya made her? A little too low cut. The variation on her royal regalia? Probably too stuffy. She likes her turtlenecks, but if he can't see her neckline at all he won't be able to tell what the spell does -

- oh goddesses she's going to be showing him cleavage on purpose. Not to seduce him obviously (right?!), just because she wants him to be able to see that she doesn't have breasts anymore whens he casts the spell and... this... is all very complicated. It's a good thing she has awhile to get ready, because she probably changes clothes at least ten times.

He seems happiest when she's more casual, so she finally settles on a simple white dress with a pink cardigan to cover her shoulders. The colors are right for the holiday at least. She leaves her hair as it usually is, half up and pulled away from her face but otherwise loose. Makeup is considered as well before she decides that's coming on too strong. At about 5:30 she's fed up with fussing over what Guy meant by "something you love" and just heads out the door, small bag of candies in hand. The extra half hour walk is meant to calm her down, and it mostly does the trick. By the time 6 rolls around, she's at the door, knocking quietly.]

[If he'd known the note would worry her, he wouldn't have included it in the first place! The last thing he wanted was her to feel pressured, and if there was something she felt comfortable or lovely in, then he would prefer she wear that! But it was her choice.

He'd also planned on coming to Ordo to walk her over, so the knock is unexpected. He's mostly dressed, sweater on top a vibrant shade of blue with sleeve cuffs and collar still not properly tucked, as though the knock interrupted him in last-minute freshening up. A neighbor needing something, maybe? He shrugs, adjusting his shirt collar a bit as he opens up the door--

--- and the look of utter surprise that crosses his face when he sees that it's Zelda at the door is almost comical. He chokes a bit, faltering and hastily fixing his shirt sleeves.]

Whoa, hey, ah... hey, Zelda! You're here...! What are you doing here? [NO SAY THAT BETTER.] I mean, you're allowed to be here, that's the point and everything, but hey, I was gonna come pick you up! I mean this works, and you're here and that's fine and... and, uh...

[Ahem. Composure, Guy.]

You, hah... wow, you look really nice.

I'm sorry! I was already out walking, so I thought I would save you some time...

[Maybe he needs a walk too? She feels a little bad for heading over and spoiling his plans, she didn't mean to - she just needed to cool down a bit. Zelda tugs at her sweater self consciously.]

Ah, do you think so? I was not sure if I should wear something casual or not. I'm glad you like it.

[The mention of clothing has her looking him over briefly.]

That sweater suits you.

[It brings out his eyes. Should she say that? That's too embarrassing, she won't say that. She does glance up at his eyes briefly, though.]

Hahah... whoa, hey, don't worry about it, alright? There's nothing to apologize for!

[His moment of awkward has passed, apparently, because his posture is right back to the casual gait he usually keeps, his head held a little higher with a warm smile. There's a quiet chuckle at the compliment to his own clothes, his fingers going to finish fixing his collar.]

Really? Well, thanks. Zelos got it for me a while back.

And na, don't worry, I didn't have anything in mind for formality. As long as you're comfortable. You're a beautiful woman, you deserve to feel that way no matter what you're wearing, you know? Besides, it flatters you!

[Unaccustomed to receiving comments on her appearance, Zelda just reddens further. Coming from Guy she likes it, but it's still new. She reaches up to push her hair over her shoulders just to give her hands something to do, fidgeting.]

I-I see. As long as it isn't inappropriate, then...

[The princess clears her throat.]

I do not mind waiting here if you weren't quite ready yet.

[He chuckles again, although it's much more subdued. He leans his shoulder against the doorframe, arms crossing and tilting his head down a bit with a searching glance.]

Zelda... [Eye contact, come on. It's only when he's caught her that he lets his smile be something more sincere and accepting.]

It's okay. You're not inappropriate in the least, you haven't upset anything. You're my guest tonight, alright?

Besides. Surprises aren't always a bad thing.

[If he could just take her hands away from her hair and lead her inside, he would. She looks uncomfortable.]

[She relaxes somewhat at his assurances, returning the smile with one of her own once he catches her eye.]

Very well, then.

[Zelda holds up the bag of candy, looking a little anxious but more in an anticipatory sort of way.]

Where would you like me to put these? I was not entirely sure what sort you might like, so I tried to put a little of everything...

[Oh... oh, are those for him? Oh gosh, Zelda, you sweetie.]

Well, I'm pretty sure I can go dig up a little dish or something to put them on the counter. As long as they won't spoil, I like to keep sweets out for guests.

...Sometimes.

[He's not a sweets person, but hey, everyone indulges in something every once in a while. He just happens to do so as a reward. When he works hard is when all the candies start being picked here and there.]

But hey, hey, where are my manners? Come on in, please. I'll go look for that dish.

[He holds the door open long enough for her to step inside before slipping his way over to the kitchen. The apartment's as tidy as ever, but there's something new taking up the space: a small table, set with a fine tablecloth and a simple set of candlesticks, which both remain unlit. There's definitely some mixed aromas of baking food as soon as Zelda steps into the apartment - some sort of baked chicken is the prominent scent.

The box he had retrieved from Luke's room is still sitting at the farthest corner of his desk. His original note sits on top of it, as though it hasn't been touched since he first put it there.]

Ah, I did not really make them with preservation in mind... keeping them in the refrigerator or wrapped up might be for the best.

[Handmade chocolates don't keep all that well. She's certain they'll end up with that gross white film and stale taste if he just leaves them out! She steps in, moving to sit at the table and hesitating before taking off her sweater. It feels a little naked to have her shoulders exposed, but it is nice and warm in Guy's apartment.]

[He pokes his head over the kitchen counter at her comment, looking a bit surprised but still giving a nod of acknowledgement.]

Alright, that works, too. Go ahead and put them on the table. I'll just pop them in the fridge until later.

[That gives him a nice end to his meal - he doesn't want to spoil it on accident! He rummages in a drawer, snatching a box of matches before... well, first of all, noticing that his date is now showing more skin, distracting him visibly for just a few seconds. It's just a dinner, he knows that, but the fact that she's fairly attractive on top of everything else is pretty damn nice. Ahem.

He'll just swallow a bit and try not to stare, tucking past to flip a couple of the lights off. Not too dark, but it's enough of a mood for the eventual strike of a match to be pretty evident.

Guy's expression is warm and just slightly on the playful side as he puts out the match, drawing himself up with just enough formality to be charming.]

If I'm not mistaken, today is a special day, and you're a pretty special woman. So I believe it's time I finally served you a proper dinner.

[The meal itself isn't too fancy, but Guy's put most of his day into making it something that looks and tastes special. Talk is scattered with thoughts of things Guy himself had been working on, questions about things of Zelda's world that he'd seen during her dream, a little bit of gossip and the occasional quiet laugh. His pleasure this evening is to serve and see her happy, more so when he gets to share the experience with her. And, not forgetting her sweet tooth, he is bringing over a smaller plate with when he gets up to fetch the chocolates from the fridge.

She may or may not notice the small box he also picks up and slips into his pocket. But that's for later. The plate is set in front of her, Guy plopping back down into his own chair with the bag of sweets in front of him.]

I hope it turned out alright. I've never made this before, but if you cut in, the middle is a liquid chocolate. Or, well, it should be!

[The gesture is a little cheesy, but Zelda finds it charming. She's all to happy to just chat with Guy and takes the time to unwind a bit, seeming honestly relaxed for the first time in quite awhile by they time they get to dessert.

She's already moving to take a bite when he mentions the liquid chocolate. With the lights dim, she didn't notice. Startled, she tries to just eat it before it drips on her, but it's too late. Thankfully there's just a bit on the neckline of the dress, but still! She starts trying to dab the chocolate away. It would really be best to get this soaking right away so it doesn't stain, but she can't just take it off! Unless...]

There is, ah, actually something else I wanted to...

[Zelda takes a breath, shifting into the genderless body she's been working on. Her face remains exactly the same, so it might not be evident at first unless he was already looking at the spot where the chocolate dripped. If he was, it's fairly obvious she's now completely flat chested.]

[It's an awkward spot, so despite his best intentions, the neckline is precisely where his eyes fall. He starts to voice something about fetching her a washcloth, trying to give himself a better excuse to keep it from being something too awkward--

--and then the neckline of her dress falls a bit as her chest suddenly evens out.

...

Well. So much for keeping his eyes off her. There's an awkward pause, Guy visibly tense and slightly flustered.]

Uh... Zelda, what did you, uh... did you just--

[Damn, he can't ask that, it's obvious! Why is this so distracting... no, geez, augh, look at her face her face is the same but oh god her boobs are gone aren't they.......]

[Really, she's quite relieved that he's already looking. Zelda nods gratefully when he asks. It saves her from having to bear the weight of how awkward this is all on her own.]

I was speaking with Bianca awhile back about Valentine's Day. Exchanging candy and gifts is nice, but more than any of that I...

[Zelda casts her eyes downward, reaching for the straps of her dress. She knows Guy likely won't be able to bring himself to touch her unless he can see that she's physically changed.]

I would like to be able to hold your hand. As myself, not as Sheik. His body is not mine, it feels wrong to use him that way. Right now, I am neither male or female. Do you think we could try...?

[It takes him a long moment to say anything, simple because the timing of her pause plus the movement to start slipping her dress off sent Guy's mind in a direction it probably shouldn't have. Whether he's relieved or slightly disappointed at the fact that she only wants her hand held is hard to tell. Honestly, even he doesn't know which it is.

He swallows hard.]

Uh... yeah, we could... I just...

I mean, I... It, uh, it depends what you were planning to do...

[His gaze is slowly slipping into something almost... apologetic. He doesn't know exactly what she means by not being male or female, other than the flattened chest. But it's still her face, her voice... it's still her.

He doesn't know if he can. She's done this to try for something this simple, and he still doesn't know if he can...]

[She can see the hint of an apology on his face already. Zelda reaches to take out a hair tie she bright with her, carefully binding her hair at the neck and taking out her earrings. She has nothing to hide right now, so after bracing herself she pushes those straps down. She doesn't even have any nipples - some cursory research on what a completely androgynous body would look like brought her to images of angels from Earth. No navels, no nipples, no genitalia at all.]

I'll wait. It's easier if I am still, isn't it?

[Zelda can't keep a slight tremble out of her voice. She feels exposed, but she knows just how deeply Guy's fear runs. He has to be able to see. He may even need to see her completely at least once, which is a nerve wracking thought. Pushing it away for now, she places her hand on the table, palm up.]

[Guy has to bite back the swear that wants to slip out as she puts her hand forward. He can hear the shaking of her voice, see very clearly that she's a clean slate up top. But he still shifts back in his chair, palms pressed against his legs as he turns away with a flinch.

This is supposed to be simple. Simple. It's just a touch. Everyone else can do it. Hell, he can do it with other men. It's simple. It shouldn't require that much thought. And yet the familiar clench of anxiety is still present, just urging him to run. Run and avoid it. It won't change.

I'm scared... I'm...

It takes him a very long moment to work his way past the gut reaction of avoidance. Eyes flicker back up to the table - to her hand, back to her, then quickly deciding against looking her with another rough swallow. He can feel his ears burning a bit, but frankly, it's one of the last things important to him right now.

Slowly, carefully, one hand pries from his lap and lifts up. He's already trembling, and the closer he begins to reach, the harder it is to not shake his head and apologize, to bite back the urge to say "I can't, I can't"...

Only a hand's width away he stops, exhaling sharply, his facial features drawing a bit tighter at the edges. He lets in a breathe - in, and out - before snapping his eyes shut, waiting... and then reaching trembling fingers out again.

They barely brush her wrist at first. Another moment, and his palm is pressing down.

It's very shaky. But it's touch.]

[Oddly enough, Guy's hesitance and nervousness soothe her. It makes her feel less exposed. He can barely bring himself to touch her hand, so it's not as if he's going to sit there and check her out right now. She wonders for a moment if she's pushing him too far, but steels herself to just wait. She'll never forget how furious he was after they switched bodies and he was suddenly unable to touch her anymore. Zelda knows that he wants this, he just may need a very gentle nudge from time to time.

As ecstatic as she is when he finally lays his palm down on hers, she keeps her hand perfectly still, not budging a bit or saying a word. The only movement is that of her eyes, anxiously flitting up to Guy's face to see if he's all right.]

[If "all right" means "not passing out", then he seems to be managing for the moment. Sort of. Guy can feel his heart pounding at a ferocious pace already, the tension and slightly sick feeling of his fear still holding on tight. He tucks his head down a bit, a nervous and cut-off laugh slipping out of his lips, quickly replaced by a grimace. This is more than he can say he's managed in a very long time, but he's still not positive how much longer he can keep this up. Not when he feels so terrified.

He can't quite relax his hand, the variation in tension giving away the fact that he's still fighting the urge to pull away (and almost giving in several times). But his fingers do manage to hesitantly curl against the side of her hand and wrist, palm pressing down a bit more. It's less holding her hand and more like hanging on for dear life so he doesn't run away.

It's only then that he finally opens his eyes, letting them gingerly follow the line up his arm, to where their hands sit on the table with a trepid concentration... and then flickering back up to her. Or, rather, her chest, and only when he's realized that he's starting to stare a bit too much does he flinch, catching her eye before becoming too thoroughly embarrassed and forcing himself to look elsewhere.]

...you, uh ...you should cover yourself up if you... need to...

[Smooth~]

I didn't want to move and startle you. Besides, I thought it might help if you could see that I was... well, not female.

[She swallows and looks up at him, trying to gauge if it would help more if he could really see. She can't bring herself to ask that, though. Maybe if he agrees that it helps.]

I... yeah, I-I understand, but...

[Hrgh. How is he supposed to say that it's still really difficult without ~~breaking his pride to pieces~~ making her feel upset? I mean, it's obvious, or it sure feels obvious. As far as he can tell, the only thing she's changed is her chest, and while it's very surprising he's.... not quite sure if it's exactly a relief.

It was slightly easier when she wasn't speaking, but he couldn't just tell himself she wasn't a woman. He couldn't trick his mind - he'd never been able to do that. Tear had even asked him when they'd first met, only be met with resounding failure. It didn't quite work like that. If all Zelda had done was just take her breasts out of the equation, that didn't make her any less of a woman. Did it?

...

He sighs shakily, his free hand slipping up to cover the heat he knew was shown all over his face.]

You... well, you're uncomfortable... and you don't, uh... need to be... I mean, you shouldn't...

[She can tell this isn't enough, so Zelda draws her hand away gently.]

It isn't so simple as telling your mind I am not female anymore, is it? I thought that might be the case. It is the truth, though - right now I am not physically female.

[He doesn't have any trouble when she's Sheik, and she's still Zelda on the inside then even if she acts a little differently, so she knows this can work in theory. It's just a little more difficult since she hasn't changed her face or voice.

Does she have the guts to undress completely in front of Guy? Right now she has nothing to hide. Besides that, he's literally been inside her body. He may not have looked at it, but she's already been exposed to him completely, and he did her no harm (other than stressing her body out, but that was hardly his fault). If he sees her as she is now just once, then his mind might be able to process later that the lack of breasts means a lack of everything.]

Do you... think that it would help to see that?

[Calm down calm down calm down, right now she has less sexual characteristics than a toddler, it is definitely not inappropriate to show him that. Not at all.

It only feels that way.

Maybe she should change the shape of her legs too, then it wouldn't feel so embarrassing.]

[His grimace deepens as he feels her slip her hand away, his own fingers instinctively retreating at the movement. Even with her outright saying it, it's difficult to believe. Damn it, he wishes this didn't have to be so complicated, maybe they should just---]

[--just, uh...

Wait, what? He had seen what she'd changed already, right? Then why was she looking so flustered...]

I mean... I don't know if it will, or... you know, if it will be any different or... I... it--- [Okay, okay, swallow, get your words back together.]

...Are you sure you'd be okay with that?

[Considering the fact that the key difference between males and females was below the belt, yes, she does mean everything. He won't ever be able to relax around this form if he can't see it. Hopefully he's consumed enough by his own fear that he won't notice her shaking slightly when she stands.]

I, well... yes. There is not anything to see right now, anyway, and I could start soaking the chocolate out of this dress.

[Her voice, at least, is steady.]
