When: Sunday, monday, tuesday - He's going somewhere to sleep, but he's back early and leaves late.
What: Duke is withdrawing from people by burying himself in books. Clearly this means he should be bothered.

[ Lowell was gone. It really shouldn't have bothered him as much as it had, but the man was... moderately important. Not as important to him as others, but...

Duke shakes his head, turning the page he's on finally and setting the book on the air as he would set a book on a table surface. It stays, as Duke knew it would, shifting aside to bring one of the other two floating books into his line of sight.

So maybe its more running away. But it works, for him. Focus on something else, and nothing will really hurt. ]

[She wasn't going to interrupt Duke when he was obviously reading, but then he put the book on the air as if there was an invisible table and it catches her attention.

She'd been looking for someone who could talk to her about magic and there'd been someone right in front of her the whole time; it was someone she trusted, too.

She came forward to stand next to Duke, for once a little shyly. Now that she thought about it, what if he didn't want to talk to her about it?]

Um...Duke?

[ The pause is because he might as well be half-deaf while focusing on something, and he turns to blink somewhat confusedly at her.

Did Ib want to braid his hair again? He's at a loss as to why anyone would really seek him out... ]

[She paused just a moment, but found her courage and gave him her most serious expression.]


Can you teach someone magic?

[ Duke blinks. ]

The type I am most familiar with, can teach, yes. I would need to make something to enable more than theory, however. It shouldn't be hard to make.

Why?

I have a friend who has magic, but he doesn't know how to use it. And, if I could protect people with it, I wanted to know if I could learn how to use magic too.

If are asking about if can aid the friend in learning, it is unlikely. Magic tends to differ from world-of-origin to world-of-origin. As for teaching you...

[ He isn't that good at protecting- ]

I can aid only a little, and I will need to make something so that you could see if it works. I am... Better at the defense that consists of offense, but know some basic protection and healing. Would have to learn other forms of protective magics, and imitate them with own, before attempting to teach.
