Bring it on!

Who: Shizuo and Vegeta

[Shizuo does not hesitate. As soon as he sees Zelda's video, he grabs his cigarettes, puts on his shades, and embarks on his mission to track down this man who hurt Sola. True, Shizuo himself once attacked Sola, but that had been when Zelda was unsure about him. Now that they all manage to get along, that is in the past, and all it takes to get Shizuo to leap to Sola's defense - more or less - is Zelda's expression.

He stalks the street of Vatheon in search of a man who fits the description, very focused. If he happens to pass anyone that does not fit the description, he hardly notices them, his mind on one track only.

Shizuo finds himself feeling excited by the prospect of a fight. After Izaya had denied him a chase during their last meeting, Shizuo had been itching for some way to get rid of his excess energy. And what better chance than fighting in the name of good?

About an hour into his search, he catches sight of a man with dark, spiked hair, blue clothes, and a tail through the window of a restaurant. It does not even dawn on Shizuo that he should request that the man come outside. He just barges right in and walks up to the man.]

I heard you're going around hurting people.

[A grin. Shizuo is ready for this.]

This time, you're the one who's going to get hurt.

[Shizuo's going to have to wait just one minute - Vegeta's not going to waste his steak. He tears into it viciously, then looks up at Shizuo with a raised eyebrow.]

Is that so, human?

[Vegeta turns on his scouter. He can't be killing people left and right here, there was no way of knowing who...

Oh. Now that was interesting. Was this guy even human? Humans didn't give that sort of readout. The prince stood, tucking his tail carefully around his waist and waiting for Shizuo to make the first move.]

[Shizuo's especially excited this time, because he was able to do some planning on the way. Usually, he just becomes enraged and can't bother to put any amount of forethought into a fight, but walking around for an hour had given him the opportunity to plan out exactly what he's going to do.

Of course, all that goes out the window the second Vegeta speaks to him. As Vegeta stands, Shizuo goes straight in for a punch without saying anything more.]

[Vegeta brings an arm up to block the punch, but he doesn't try to dodge. He wants to get a feel for Shizuo's strength.

Finally, someone who isn't a useless little kid.

The prince returns Shizuo's slightly crazed grin, throwing the table out of the way to create an impromptu arena and flying at him with a punch of his own. The gasps of his fellow diners are ignored.]

[He was blocked. Blocked. In that brief second immediately after his punch, Shizuo's eyes widen and he looks absolutely shocked.

Because no one blocks him. Not even those stupid people who came after him with those blades, claiming they loved him. Not even Izaya. Izaya runs, gets him hit by cars, sometimes catches him with his knife...but if Izaya gets caught, it's game over.

Because he's surprised and it takes his brain a moment to wrap around what has happened, his body takes the brunt of Vegeta's punch. However, Shizuo doesn't even so much as flinch, only taking a step back to absorb the shock. His pain tolerance comes in handy; he hardly feels it.]

You're going to have to try harder than that!

[Suddenly, Shizuo is having a lot of fun. It's rare that he gets a good challenge. Now he'll really have to use his strength. Luckily, the patrons are clearing out. Shizuo quickly grabs the nearest table and swings it like a bat at Vegeta.]

Am I?!

[Dodging is a coward's way out. A Saiyan grows stronger by healing up from injuries, and Vegeta is no exception. The little wooden table is easily shattered with a kick, Shizuo will have to use his body to fight the prince - nothing else is going to hold up.

That is, if Vegeta gives him the chance to. He reaches out for Shizuo's arms, attempting to hold him still and come in for a very vigorous headbutt.]

[Shizuo wrenches his arms from Vegeta's grasp, but not in time to fully avoid the headbutt - and that he feels. Another unexpected development - he's so accustomed to barely feeling anything during his fights.

He stumbles slightly, but does not lose his footing. There's no time for surprise and there are no poles around for him to try to use so Shizuo comes at Vegeta with as much of his inhuman strength as he can possibly muster, aiming a punch with a follow-through that he hopes will at least stun Vegeta - or preferably knock him down, but Shizuo is starting to have doubts!]

[Vegeta feels the force of the hit and decides that attempting to stay standing would cause more damage than letting himself fall back, and fall back he does, laughing. There's only a brief respite before he delivers a sweeping kick towards Shizuo's ankles, trying to bring the other to the floor with him.]

[Any glimmer of triumph that Shizuo feels is immediately extinguished by his subsequent fall to the floor. Though he isn't necessarily hurt by the impact, he's stunned by the sudden disadvantage in which he finds himself, and his focus is less on delivering another blow and more at recovering his footing so he can get in a better position.]

[The small man leaps on top of Shizuo, not about to let him get back up. Vegeta tries to use his legs to keep Shizuo on the ground. He aims blow after blow towards the blond's head and torso in quick succession, smirking widely and showing his prominent canine teeth in a display of dominance.]

[This guy is strong - Shizuo can feel it with each blow he receives. The first couple catch his face, and then Shizuo brings one of his arms up, trying to block the remaining ones, while using his other hand to shove at Vegeta, trying to get him off. There's nothing graceful about his form, Shizuo is scrambling to regain any measure of advantage.]

[Vegeta's blows slow slightly as he notices Shizuo's somewhat desperate attempts to get him to stop. The man was strong, but it was like he had little to no experience fighting a proper opponent. It was almost disappointing.

The prince stood again, grabbing at the hand that was trying to shove him away and throwing Shizuo towards a wall if he got ahold of it. Get up, human. Let's try this again.]

[Shizuo is no stranger to failure. He usually fails when up against Izaya, but the informant usually uses dirty tricks - getting him hit by a car or having him fall through a rotted roof. He isn't used to facing someone who can match - maybe even surpass - his strength, and he especially isn't used to getting thrown around like some kind of rag doll.

It pisses him off. Which is good. He needs his rage.

He hits the wall hard and heavy, damaging it in the process. Though Vegeta hasn't conned him into getting hit by a truck, Shizuo certainly feels as though that is what has happened. Still, he pulls himself back up on his feet, angry.

Mindlessly, he charges at Vegeta, that familiar no-thought process of kill, kill, kill taking over. Shizuo uses everything he has as he charges, trying to deliver a heavy blow with the force of his whole body.]

[Shizuo's persistence at least is admirable, but he won't be able to defeat Vegeta unless he can keep his wits about him while he's fighting. The Saiyan has a lot of experience and a mindless charge just won't be enough. He crouches, ready to deliver an elbow to Shizuo's abdomen when he gets close, planning on using not only his strength but the bartender's own momentum for the blow.]

[Shizuo doesn't have time to register Vegeta's form and change his approach. He takes the elbow in his stomach, and do to the fact that the rebound is the result of both his strength and Vegeta's, he feels it keenly, crumbling with the blow.

He doesn't get up this time, because it's evident that he has lost and any more attempts at trying to attack Vegeta are only going to result in more damage.

But, despite laying on the floor and thinking about his defeat, Shizuo laughs. He hurts and he has lost, but all he can think about is the fact that he now has a challenge. A different one from the kind that Izaya offered him. A real opponent, in strength and form.

It's painful to laugh, but he's thrilled. For the moment at least. Eventually it'll sink in that he failed his original mission.]

This isn't - ah - over.

[Vegeta sneers down at Shizuo. What does he mean, it isn't over? It's obviously over. He doesn't want to kill the human, so he picks up a chair, brandishing it over his head.]

I think it is.

[He brings it down towards Shizuo's back. Whether it hits its intended target or the floor, it almost explodes with the impact with a satisfying crack.]

[Yeah, it is, for now. But Shizuo isn't going to walk away from this with the same frame of mind. He has something to work toward, now. Something that isn't just Izaya. Something that maybe, can take away that stupid need and the whole king thing Izaya rambled about last time.

Shizuo doesn't move out of the way of the chair. He takes the hit, makes a low grunt in response, and thinks about how he should pay Izaya a visit.]

[Vegeta tossed away the bit of the chair that he'd been holding onto. That had started out fun, but the ending wasn't satisfying.]

Come find me again if you think you can keep your head in a fight, human.

[And with that, Vegeta flies (quite literally) out of the restaurant.]
