012 - Madokara Mieru
Who: Dhaos sans a few centuries, and a bunch of strangers
What: the young prince has a slight scare, and explores his surroundings
When: Monday morning to early afternoon
Style: brackets, as always
Status: open

[Waking up in a new place can be a scary experience for a child, especially when said child has no memory of how they got there in the first place. This is such the case for Dhaos, now age seven and completely oblivious to any memory of his adult life. The fear that perhaps he had been stolen away by someone - a very real, if unlikely danger to a young prince such as himself - gives way to curiosity. Wouldn't there be someone watching him if he had really been kidnapped? The window was even open a little, and the door didn't have a lock. Being mindful of the large turtleneck he's almost swimming in - goodness, whoever normally wears this thing must be even taller than Father - he opens the door and wanders out into the hall to find out what's going on.
-----
A bit later in the day, he can be found playing out in front of the Vesperia house. He's not too sure about the area yet, and he's had it quite strictly drilled into his head from early on not to wander off alone.]
((ooc: Might make an account for this later on. Will give a heads up if I do.))

The socks are kinda iffy on success.
But hey, in this strange barrier with strange lacks of familiar things, he's just... gunna quietly stare at the other kid.
He might have found a cat as a shelter to hide behind. ]
no subject
[Hiding behind the cat is of course entirely ineffective for keeping Duke hidden. In fact, it draws Dhaos' attention even faster than normal. He tilts his head curiously at the... girl? Boy? The prince hasn't seen many children his age, so he's not all that good at telling the difference without a cue like a dress or hair ribbons. So naturally, he's curious.]
Hello. My name is Dhaos. What's yours?
[Manners are important after all, even if he hasn't entirely gotten a grasp on formality quite yet.]
no subject
[ He's still hiding behind that cat, but the cat doesn't seem to mind yet. ]
no subject
[That draws a smile from the half-elf. The kitty sure does seem to like Duke.
He happily wanders over to pet the cat, being careful not to trip.]
It's nice to meet you Duke. Do you know where we are? I'm pretty sure there isn't anything like this place anywhere near the castle or city, and I don't know of any lakes big enough to hold a whole city either.
no subject
[ Duke shakes his head, still hiding behind the cat. He doesn't know where they are... ]
no subject
No knights at all...?
[Now that concerns Dhaos. Everywhere he'd ever gone before, there were always guards about. So for there to be no guards at all...]
That can't be right. There has to be at least one somewhere.
no subject
[ there's no shiny helmets anywhere so. ]
no subject
Maybe they're hiding right now?
[Knights did that sometimes, pretending to be someone else until the right time. At least they did in stories, and he's pretty sure some do that and he just never hears about it because only certain adults are suppose to know.]
no subject
[ That's better than them... not being around, right?
Duke looks about. No one seems like they're hiding a uniform under their clothes though... ]
no subject
They must be. I guess they're just really good at it.
[Even if it might not be true, it's a reassuring thought.]
no subject
[ Time to stand in awe of those hiding knights! So sneaky. ]
no subject
[He gasps as a thought hits him:]
Maybe they're not knights at all! Maybe they're ninjas, like the ones in the stories Uncle Kratos tells me!
[That would certainly explain why they're so good at hiding.]
no subject
[ He hasn't heard of them... ]
no subject
[Then, in that case, maybe he can direct him to Princess Zelda!]
Hey! Hey, 'scuse me!
[Heads up, Dhaos - there's a barefoot nine-year-old wearing only an oversized, knee-length tunic and a rather large sock hat approaching.]
no subject
[The younger boy automatically looks up at the sound of another voice.]
Yes?
[He's briefly startled by the strange appearance of the other. Not so much the clothes - not considering his own state of dress and that of the white-haired boy he'd seen earlier - but more his ears. Dhaos has seen others of his people with pointed ears, his mother included, but never to this degree. Was the other blond an Elf?
...Probably best if he doesn't stare. It would be rude.]

D'you know where Hyrule Castle is? I gotta meet the... the Princess of Destiny. It's really important. The Great Deku Tree said I had to. [...Yeah, the Deku Tree's death hasn't quite sunk in yet.]
no subject
[Aaaand there are a bunch of things the little prince has never heard of.]
I haven't heard of the kingdom of Hyrule or any Princesses of Destiny, but if the Deku Tree is another name for the Kharlan Tree, I know where that is from home.
...I dunno where we are now though.

((OOC: Hey! I've just come off hiatus - I know it's been a while, so if you want to drop this thread, that's perfectly fine :) Just let me know!))
no subject
Hi! What are y'doin'?
no subject
[Dhaos perks up at the sound of another kid his age. That's the third one today, and it's still morning.]
Exploring. I'm trying to figure out where we are.
no subject
I'm losted too.
[Of course, that solemnity only lasts for a moment before Lloyd smiles and invites himself to reach for one of the other boy's free hands.]
Don' worry, I p'tect you!
[Never mind that he's smaller than Dhaos.]
no subject
You want to be my knight?
[He thinks it over for a moment before coming to a decision. Whether the other boy intended this as a game of pretend or was serious, it would be nice to have a friend his age for once, especially in this strange new place.]
Alright. And what is your name, good sir knight?
no subject
[He is so excited by the prospect, he can hardly keep it inside.]
I'm Lloyd! What's your name?
no subject
[Well, his new friend sure is enthusiastic.]
My name is Dhaos. It's nice to meet you, Sir Lloyd.
no subject
Nice a meet you, too! Um, um um... Madesty?
no subject
Just Dhaos is fine. Not too many people should know I'm a prince, okay?
[A prince who's happy just to have a friend at all.]
no subject
[Lloyd echoes the name, trying it out, and is pleased to realize that it's a whole lot easier to pronounce than 'majesty.'
His eyes widen with surprise, then with understanding. He leans forward, dropping his voice to a whisper.]
Oooh. So, it's a secret? Don' worry, I won't tell! P'omise!
no subject
He was physically far older than he recalled being, though his memories of Vatheon remained intact with nothing else altered, and there was a distinct lack of Dhaos in the Vesperia home.
First thing was first - finding out if Dhaos was even still in the bubble. He was, a quick check of the residency list confirmed that, but if he wasn't at home then where... ?
Well first thing was first, finding something that FIT. He hadn't grown much more in whatever number of years had passed. Gained some weight around his scrawny limbs, added maybe two, three inches of height, if even that, and his face was more defined and masculine, but he still looked like himself.
Well. Except for the distinctly longer hair that was long enough to pull back in to a pony tail. ... interesting.
Since he lived with two men known for their long hair, finding a hairtie wasn't difficult. Getting it pulled back wasn't either. It was clothes that were going to be an issue.
Approaching Yuri got a raised eyebrow, a surprisingly approving look, and an offer of clothes that were probably still going to be a bit too big, but better than anything Ioder had currently. Questioning about Dhaos got a shrug in return, and a comment that maybe he'd simply gone for a walk.
Still, Ioder was worried. Something wasn't sitting right in the pit of his stomach, and the news of a really powerful, age-altering curse wasn't helping.
So after dressing he headed out, but he didn't have to go far... Dhaos was quite literally up the street.
And... tiny.
Oh.]
no subject
[There was no way Ioder could have known, but Dhaos lack of wandering about had lead to the man being the first adult the little prince had encountered all day. The boy found that more than a little suspicious on its own, but with how this stranger was staring at him as if he had grown a second head... Well, that was certainly reason enough for him to be a bit cautious.]
...Can I help you, sir?
no subject
Odd. And adorable.
Gosh...]
Ah-- ... no, I was merely... surprised to see a child out here alone. You're not lost, are you?
no subject
[...Well, the man does have a point. Children aren't normally allowed to wander about on their own, are they? Dhaos still isn't sure he entirely trusts him, but he was always taught not to lie.]
...A little. I've never heard of a place like this before. Have you been kidnapped too, sir?
no subject
[Well they've all been kidnapped, but he doesn't want to frighten Dhaos.]
No, no, of course not. I live here. Just down the road, in fact. This city is called Vatheon.
no subject
[That was too much of a pause not to have been a lie. Dhaos may be seven, but he knows how to spot a poorly hidden lie when he sees one.]
...It must have been a while ago when you were kidnapped then, if you have a house. Is it the same for everyone here?
no subject
[Ioder let out an amused sigh at that, nodding.]
I've been here about a year. It does happen that way, yes... people are pulled here from other worlds, and often left for months or years on end.
no subject
Oh.
[Processing...
Processing...]
[Wait...! Other world?! Years?!]
But I don't have years to wait! The castle must be in an uproar as it is! Even if it's nothing more than a month, everyone is sure to worry themselves sick over me!
[Nice one Ioder. The kid seems to be having a slight panic attack.]
no subject
Calm down, calm down... time will stand still in your own world when you're here. When you return it will be as if you've never left. It's complicated, yes, but trust me - you don't need to worry about that.
no subject
Oh...
[Well, that's a bit better, but still pretty distressing for the poor boy.]
...But what will happen to me right now?
no subject
You can stay with me if you wish. I'm sure you'll go home before you know it, but until then I'm more than willing to look out for you.
no subject
[He really shouldn't. Trusting strangers is normally not a good idea after all. But... this man had been nothing but helpful so far, and he was another victim of kidnapping. Hadn't he always heard stories of people in tough situations helping eachother out, even though they're strangers, simply out of the goodness of their hearts?
...And he has no place to go, even if he refuses...]
...Alright. If it won't be too much trouble.
no subject
It won't be at all.
[Ioder smiles and offers his hand.]
