[Jade had been somewhat missing from the apartments. After all, the man hadn't been in his right head. Something had just begun to deteriorate. He was still there enough to know that he needed to be around the Coral for now, just to keep himself sane and... well, alive. He was currently sitting on top of the Coral, murmuring to himself and reciting what sounded like some kind of chant. It flitted between what sounded like an equation and just mumbles in some other language.

In his hands was a small glyph, constantly shifting and moving under his gaze. What he was attempting was unknown, but he seemed solely focused on it and it alone, whatever he was saying having some impact on the shining lines floating above his hands.]

[ Oh.

That is somewhat interesting. Duke had been planning on touching the coral and just being done with it, but he stops, watching that ... formula?

Its magic, that much he is sure, so he will stand here and watch. Yup. ]

[There's nothing quite like the end of a long day's work. After Cielo's shift has finished at the clinic, he figured he was going to go straight back to the Embryon base and on his way, he passes by the coral.

When he hears the chanting, he stops to look at the source and simply stares at the man seated on top of coral. There's something quite eerie about it, not like anything he had seen in the two worlds he's come from.]

...hey, you okay?

[bootsweremadeforcasting]

[Jade didn't seem to really notice Duke, continuing to focus on the formulaic glyph, which expanded slightly as he continued to mumble at it.]

[Jade's red eyes were glowing dimly, his mouth continuing to move as the incantation and Jade's focus remained unchanged.]

[Now that looks anything but normal. Cielo would leave the guy alone but...he doesn't like the look of any of this.]

Can you hear me?

[bootsweremadeforcasting]

[Jade's head turned slowly, mechanically, eyes suddenly dimmed and watching the other. He didn't move past that, the glyph in his hands shuddering like a technical glitch before it shut out.]

[ Well then.

Don't mind him as he tries to listen and see how the muttering and expanding formula are connected. ]

[The glyph shuddered and Jade's hands flexed quietly.]

[ He can't... make sense of any of that. Focusing and not letting the coral translate? Odd, he's sitting on it.

... Will it make sense if he mimics it? ]

[The muttering trails off and Jade's head slowly, mechanically turns to look at Duke, staring unblinkingly. The glyph in his hands shimmers a bit before it fades and disappears.]

[When the glyph shuts out, Cielo blinks. Whatever that thing was, it reminds him uncomfortably of that thing Angel had in the Junkyard's last moments.]

What's that thing you had?

[There's no audible response from Jade, but his face seems to twist into a negative expression before he gets his feet under him and launches himself at the new body. His right arm flashed bright and a long, slender spear appeared within it, pointed at the other.]

[ Well, he got looked at, but the spell faded. Did he disrupt it? ]

... Sorry if caused to lose. Was curious.

[WHY IS HE POINTING A WEAPON AT HIM but there's no time to question why. The fact is that aggression has been shown, and Cielo does not fool around when threats are being made.

In response to the spear, the tattoo on his right leg glows blue, angled lines of the same color covering his darkening body. And in an instant, his body changes to his demon form.

He doesn't do anything else just yet. Maybe this would be enough to avoid a fight.]

[A visit to the coral was just one of a few things he had theoretically planned for today. "Theoretically" because Sol more often acted as he wished and not based on any sort of schedule, though it was something he probably needed to do anyway. Nowhere on that theoretical (and really, probably more metaphysical) schedule was there running into someone sitting on the coral and muttering to himself.

The glyph, honestly, was a bit more interesting. He was silent at first, eying it, watching Jade as he modified and pulled on the shimmering image.]

Pro'lly a bad idea t'pull on th'coral like that.

[Theory, but it'd make sense. The coral pulled on them, so pulling back would be a valid concept. Practical or actually feasible? Different story.]

[Jade seemed to be ignoring the man, favoring the spell and his concentration more than whatever the other had said. The glowing glyph in his hands twitched and grew in size, shifting and churning as he continued his mutterings.]

[With no warning at all, Jade's body seemed to simply launch from its spot towards the still figure. In a bright flash, Jade's spear came to hand, swung harshly towards Duke with no sound from the odd man.]

[despite the odd transformation, Jade's spear still swings in a less than graceful arc at the new entity, his face full of the same focus he'd channeled into the glyph only seconds before.]

[ Oh. Uh.

He must have really pissed you off, or something-

Duke stumbles away in time to only gain a slash across the arm. ]

[It's the flickering of Ancient Ispanian in amongst the chanting that nabs Guy's attention, even before he actually recognizes the voice. After days of fruitless searching, he's not sure whether to be relieved or horrified to see that this is where the Colonel has parked himself for the time being. But at least he's still alive.

Too bad the blonde doesn't have those glasses with him. But right now, his options are to either go back to fetch them and lose Jade all over again in the process, or see if there's some way to temporarily pacify him.

Pacifying Jade Curtiss... now why did that sound utterly impossible?

Guy's motions are calm and cautious as he steps up to the coral, a hand staying close to the sword at his hip.]

That's quite a perch you've found, huh, Jade?

[bootsweremadeforcasting]

[Jade landed, his boots making a loud noise as the scraped on the ground/ Jade's body twisted, a swinging of limbs as he attempted to thrust the spear at Duke again.]

Was completely ignored. Jade's focus remained on the glyph, continuing to mutter quietly.]

[ Duke is, perhaps surprisingly, not that good at this defending on the surprise stuff.

Maybe he's lost some of that while here. Not good.

He takes another glancing blow and manages to twist his hand just so to bring Dein Nomos into it, now a little more ready to defend himself. ]

[The thrust from the spear was followed by a crack of lightning as it came down hard towards Duke's head.]

[ That hurt.

That really hurt-

Duke... needs to get his jerking limbs to work, so he's more or less stuck sort of standing. He hasn't dropped Dein Nomos, but Jade can very likely do some serious damage if he attacks again. ]
