The Cakes are not a lie!
Who: Sophie, Mithos, Cheria Barnes, anyone else in the family (i.e. Asbel, Malik, Hubert, Pascal) who'd be at the house.
Where: Tales House of Graces!
When: Uh... a couple of days ago!
Style: Either
Status: Semi Open
So shortly after inviting Mithos over to get his wedding cake, Sophie had trotted out to get some aprons since she promised both Tifa and Pascal one. She would give Tifa hers later, of course. Having tasks Malik to guard the cake in case Mithos arrived first, Sophie was lucky enough to get back home quickly enough that Mithos had yet to arrive.
Tiger Festival, however, had found the cakes and was currently intently staring at the counter, gauging if it was safe to jump up onto. The wedding cake is in danger!

Sophie had invited him over for cake, after asking him to comment on her butt and then asking if he was getting married. It was extremely awkward, needless to say, but he did say he was going over, and unless you're a Summon Spirit, Mithos at least tries to keep his promises. Swallowing his pride, and while clearly appearing nervous, Mithos approached the location specified by Sophie on the network.
Why was he nervous? Why was this such a big deal to him? He wasn't nervous about being around a bunch of humans, for once; it was Sophie. And he had no idea why that weird, socially inept girl with purple hair was getting to him the way she so obviously was.
Already blushing, Mithos raises his hand to knock.

Tiger Festival mewled in protest, but slouched against Sophie's shoulder with a comfortable per as she carried him over to the door, balancing the weight with one arm. Opening the door, she blinked once and smile. "Mithos, come in." A pause, and then a tilt of her head.
"You look hot."
no subject
... and then...
"I-I look wha--" he freezes mid-step, and almost trips as he steps over the threshold of the door. Oh. Right. He's sweating and blushing. "I-... yeah. It's hot outside." No it's not, Mithos, it's almost December. "I-I mean, I ran here!" Yeah. You totally didn't teleport. You ran.
She didn't see you teleport or can sense leftover mana, right?
no subject
But hey, maybe he had a lot of mana and the teleport spell didn't use it all? Or maybe it wears him out. "You shouldn't run if you're sick. You're supposed to sleep under lots of blankets and drink chicken soup and water."
And ... and... do other stuff. "Can I touch you?" She asks, totally out of the blue. Because she remembers how he reacted the last time she touched him - he didn't seem to like it. But maybe that's because she didn't ask permission.

"Oh, Mithos ..." Suddenly, this was awkward. The last time she'd spoken to Mithos, the conversation went down a path she wasn't very comfortable with. She wasn't entirely sure what to think of Mithos anymore, after knowing what she did about him. Sophie seemed to really like him, though, so she was trying to make the best of things.
"I wasn't aware you were coming over."
Awk-waaard ...
no subject
And that's when she asked that question. "Y-you want to touch- what!?" He blushed again, backing up against a nearby couch, and almost falling over it. When Cheria suddenly walked in, he glanced from her to Sophie. Well. Awkward indeed. Especially walking into this question.
"S-she wanted me to eat cake with her!" Mithos declared defensively, as if he were being accused of something instead of simply explaining his surprise visit. "T-that's all!"
no subject
This stuff is too complicated. :I
"What's an angel?" Sophie inquires, glancing from Mithos to Cheria, curiously. And why is he so defensive? She's about to explain she wanted to feel his forehead, but then he almost falls over, which is worrying!
"Cheria, I think something is wrong with Mithos." She glances at her not-mom. "He's all red, and he has trouble with his words, and he almost fell over just now." But if he's not sick, then what's his problem?
And hey, she didn't say anything about eating cake, she said she'd give you a cake! Two totally different things!
no subject
"Just step away from him for now, Sophie." Cheria looked to Mithos, worry clouding her features. She'd become familiar with what sick looks like, and ... well, Mithos looked more flustered than sick.
"I think he's fine. Try not to worry too much, okay?" She stepped up to Sophie's side, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Mithos, if you'd like to come into the kitchen with us and help us make cakes, you're more than welcome to." She might have had her reasons for being awkward with Mithos, but she wasn't going to ruin his relationship with Sophie because of her own feelings regarding what he did.
"Come on, Sophie, we should make those cakes. Besides, if Mithos is getting married, he's going to want to see what his cake looks like, right?"
no subject
He began to follow her into the kitchen, if not to help than to watch, when all of a sudden, he froze. Did she... did she really just...
"I'm not getting married!" he panicking more now. "I'm-- no, I'm not--- who told you I was?"
no subject
She points, "I don't mind. My room is down the hall." And then she nods at Cheria, "Yes. But I think he should get better first." She carries the aprons on into the kitchen, "And it shouldn't be too big so he doesn't drop it."
Who do you think told Cheria, Mithos?
no subject
"Sophie told me you're getting married, Mithos. Are you?"
And then, to Sophie.
"Sophie, I don't think he's sick. He's just fine."
But oddly flustered ... why was he so flustered? Around Sophie, of all people? Weren't they friends?
It was then that it clicked for her.
Oh.
Oh.
... Oh.
This ... is awkward.

Sophie's offer to let him sleep in her bed had barely registered in his mind until after the initial awkwardness of being accused of having a fiance. He abruptly turned around, hunched his shoulders, and crossed his arms, not looking at either of them. "I'm an angel, I don't need sleep." He's already said that once before, but it was still true. "Sleep is something humans need."
And with that, he stomped off, looking over the cakes. Well... they appeared to be competent bakers. He'd give them that, at least.
no subject
He's standing the way Cheria stands when she's angry at Asbel! She did upset him. But how? Was it because she offered him the bed when he didn't need sleep? Maybe it was offensive to him?
"I'm sorry, Mithos." She wasn't sure what she was sorry about, so she'll just sorry for everything.
She proceeded to head into the kitchen then, glancing at Cheria. "He looks like you do, when you're angry at Asbel." Oh. OH! She knows what to do! Scuze me Cheria, she suddenly dashes outside, she'll be RIGHT back!
no subject
"Sophie ...?"
This whole thing was just weird. She looked to Mithos, then back at the door where Sophie had left. She sighed, shifting her weight to one side and putting a hand to her forehead.
"I am so confused."
no subject
Actually, how he was really feeling... well, Cheria kind of hit the nail on the head, there. As much as Mithos will NEVER EVER ADMIT IT FOR AS LONG AS HE LIVES THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Mithos continues staring at the door, and then at Cheria. He wants to ask why she ran, but... he doesn't. Instead, he considers leaving himself.

So clearly giving a flower to someone makes them happy, and it's something you're supposed to do. Only with the coming cold there weren't too many flowers left outside. Sophie glanced around for a few minutes, until she spied a small yellow flower. Perfect! Now she can make up with Mithos - phew. She wasn't sure what she was going to be able to do if there hadn't been any flowers left.
Scooping up said flower in her hands, cupping it so the soil doesn't fall through, she padded over to Cheria. "Do you think this will make Mithos happy?" Also do they have another vase? Mithos probably won't want to carry dirt back home since he has a cake to take.
no subject
Besides, that situation and this one? Not quite as dissimilar as she originally thought. The unsuspecting one giving someone they thought they hurt a flower because of one reason, and not really knowing what it would really mean to the other.
Cheria sighed, leaning against the doorframe and just watching until Sophie came over to her. She smiled down at the (physically) younger girl and lifted a hand to gently pet her hair.
"That depends on Mithos, I think. But it's a very thoughtful gesture." She pushed herself away from the doorframe after that.
"Let me go find something to plant it in, okay Sophie? Go see what Mithos thinks. Remember to wash your hands after we get that planted, though, since we've still got to bake cakes."
no subject
Sophie was really confusing him on a personal level. He could hear their voices near the front door, but he was staring at the cakes, trying not to focus on it. He felt so awkward, so weird. He had never felt like this before. It was... strange. Even a bit scary. Nobody, not even Martel, had this effect on him.
After he felt like he had a grip on himself, he turned back towards the living room, seeing Cheria in the doorway. He remained silent, even if he had heard his name. He knows Cheria knows about how much he hates humans and that he has massacred millions of them, so maybe she's telling Sophie to steer clear?
... she better not be.
D-Down Mithos D: Don't crack on us!
And, well, she obviously didn't have to look far. Spying the boy standing in the living room, she quickened her step to walk over to him, "Mithos, look!" Brightly, and proudly, she presented the flower to him.
"This is for you, so you won't be angry anymore." Beam. "Cheria went to get something to plant it in. Do you like it?"
Hopehopehope, don't be maaaaaaaad.
no subject
"I wasn't mad, Sophie," he answered quietly, just barely whispering. And in a tone very much unlike the usual jaded, almost angry tone he's spoken in since arriving here. "... Thank you. I do."
... And then, he smiles. While blushing. Cheria, your suspicions have just been confirmed.
no subject
Pushing her worries aside for the time being, she made her way over to the two.
"Sophie, Mithos, I found something to plant that in. Mithos, would you like to do the honors? Sophie, please go wash your hands."
She held out the pot to Mithos, so that he could put his gift in a safe place.
no subject
"Yes Cheria. I'll be right back, Mithos." And off she goes, briskly trotting to the ladies powder room to wash her hands. Because no one wants soil in their wedding cake.
no subject
By the time he reaches her, he looks down at his present from her, and blushes again. But he doesn't put the flower in. "I want her to be here when I do it," he says quietly... almost shyly.
no subject
"That's fine. I'm sure Sophie will be happy to see you plant your gift."
Her expression turned serious, though, as she went into her next topic.
"I can see how much you like her. I'm not going to get in the way of that despite knowing what you've done in your world, because Sophie really seems to be fond of you, too."
It was really easy to get on Sophie's good side. But that wasn't the point here.
"I just want your word that you'll be good to her. Sophie is very important to a lot of people, me included, and none of us want to see her hurt. If I find out that she's been hurt in any way ..."
It was a warning. It was a warning she'd probably give to anyone who had the same feelings Mithos had for Sophie.
"... Well. You won't, right?"
Have you ever seen a mother bear protecting her young, Mithos? That's what she's warning about.
l-late sob
She... she liked him, too? What was going to be a counter-threat (seriously, very few humans ever threatened him and lived to tell the tale), quickly turned into more blushing and flusteredness. Sophie... liked him too? This wasn't just how she normally is? (Don't correct him, please.)
"No... no, I won't." He sheepishly looks down at the floor, at that.
no subject
"Cheria, I'm back." Sophie announced on emerging from the bathroom with newly dried hands, holding them up to Cheria for inspection.
Glancing at Mithos, she tilted her head curiously, "You didn't put it in." Did you forget?
no subject
Cheria smiles at Sophie, then, gesturing for her to come closer.
"Mithos wanted you to be here when he planted his flower. Though I'll have to ask him to wash his hands as well, when he gets it planted. Especially if he wants to help us make cakes."
Cheria will have to do that as well, not to worry. She's not that much of a hypocrite.
"He really seems to like your gift, Sophie."
no subject
"Well... she's here now, so..." He takes one last look at his flower, and gently places it in the vase, parting some of the dirt with his free hand. He looked over at Sophie for a moment, misty-eyed and still blushing a bit, and stepped back as the flower was planet.
"... thank you." It was just barely above a whisper.
