[It's been a few days since Gale disappeared from the bubble, when he finally reappears. It's not the time for newcomers, so it's obvious from the start that something strange is going on. Anyone passing through the Plaza right now is likely to see a person in gray and orange appearing and... landing in the fountain.

Not that they can control where they land, really. But that person isn't moving... and once again, the water is turning red.

Gale doesn't move at first. Not because he doesn't recognize that he's in a different place, or that he's no longer dying. Those things registered rather immediately, as soon as he fell into the fountain. The things he said to Jenna, however, those need a moment of consideration.

Still, it's not long before he pulls himself up out of the fountain. One of his hands is still transformed, and there's a gaping hole in his armor now, but other than that, he's fine. It probably helps that the fountain has washed most of the blood off.

For once, he doesn't set out immediately, or take out his SFC. He'll just be there for a while. Almost dying is tiring.]

[It's a good thing he's careful about it, too, because Gale wouldn't have done anything to stop it. He's pretty unsteady right now. As Cielo runs up, the green lines are fading from Gale's arm as his hand turns back to normal.

He might look surprised for a moment, though. You just left, bro, what are you doing here? But this place isn't the hangar... It's Vatheon. Right. He didn't remember, at first.

Still, his concerns are on the real world, and the situation with Serph and Sera and Cielo there.]

Did you leave the hangar safely?

The question surprises him at first and he can't help but stare for a few seconds. Only then does Cielo piece together the situation. Right. The real world. It would be foolish to expect no change in Gale when he came back.]

Er...ja. We did.

[It's technically the truth. They took off just fine. It's just...what happened after that couldn't exactly be described as safe.

It looks like today is a day for talking about things.]

[As if coming back stabbed isn't change enough.

Knowing what he does now, though, it isn't hard for Gale to piece things back together. The planes still in the hangar and Jenna's bluff... not to mention that when Cielo returned to the bubble, he told Gale that he'd been hurt fighting jets.]

And after?

[They're talking about this, all right. But if Cielo asks, Gale will answer questions about what happened to him, too.]

Hey, hey I told you what happens after that!

[It's a weak protest, mostly because Cielo knows that Gale has already figured out that there's more to the story. Even in his current condition, Gale is good at extracting information.]

Well...I died too.

[Argilla already knows, and it's a wonder she hasn't told anyone else.]

I'm sorry.

[He truly is. He called part of Angel's bluff, but not all of it, and that cost Cielo his life. He doesn't count his own life in that. It was his to spend. And Jenna wouldn't have let them past so easily.]

Serph and Sera?

They got away. I made sure to get every jet.

[He wishes he could confirm for sure that they made it to the HAARP Facility fine, but he has a feeling they did. After those last fighters, there was pretty much nobody left to stand in their way.]

Good.

And what of here? How long was I gone?

[Gale's focus doesn't ever shift from the conversation, but he's kind of leaning back against the edge of the fountain. Blood loss and recovering from deadly injuries isn't fun, even when fixed by the bubble.]

A couple days.

[If Gale was worried about missing anything significant, then he's got nothing to worry about.]

How about we get you back to base now, ja?

[You know what you need Gale? A nice warm and comfy bed to lie in.]

[It doesn't take Gale long to nod. He wants a more detailed report of the things he missed, of course, but if nothing especially bad has happened in those few days, then it can wait.

He doesn't lean on Cielo, but he isn't moving like he's prepared to fight at all. For once, he could honestly use a break from battle.]

[Wow. Just wow. Cielo doesn't think he's ever seen Gale like this. He doesn't offer any support to Gale, but is ready to catch him if he stumbles.]

What happened to you anyway?

I had something to tell Angel. She.. did not wish to hear it.

[He's never really talked to the Tribe about David's memories. Sometimes because he didn't remember them, sometimes because he felt set apart by them. It's obviously not the same for the rest of them. Varin hadn't recognized him at all, out of all of them. Even know, having David's memories and life open to him, he isn't sure how to say it.]

[He can guess how it goes from there, especially if that hole in his armor is any indication of what happened. He shakes his head.]

You crazy, bro.

[But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Before going to the real world, Gale would never do something like that.]

It had to be done. Even if she would not listen.

[And he does believe that. Angel would have done something far more drastic, had he not done this. They would have lost more time. Angel needed to know that she had gone wrong.]

[Cielo totally understands. He's sure that him fighting those jets was also crazy. He doesn't blame Gale for his death either - it was a choice he himself had made.

That was still crazy, though. He gestures to the hole in Gale's armor.]

And she did that to you, ja?

[She must have really not wanted to hear what Gale had to tell her.]

Yes. She was repaid in kind.

[He didn't stand down that much. Mostly because she might have decided to go after the others anyway...]

[That's all Cielo wanted to know, so he asks no more questions. He didn't expect Gale to survive staying behind by himself, and certainly not with Angel there.

After all, Cielo did simply just hand over the win in their bet to Gale. Under no other circumstances would he have ever done that.]

We're almost there.

[The base is right ahead of them.]

Then you can rest all you want, ja?

Hmm.

[It says something about the condition he's reached, that he's not doing much to continue the conversation, or even protesting in favor of finding out every little detail of what happened while he was gone.]

Are the others at the base?

[Cielo answers as they reach the door and he opens the door for Gale.]

Should be.

[Though he wouldn't be surprised if some of them were out. Even though the Embryon were still a very close knit Tribe, here in Vatheon they could afford to do their own individual things and enjoy a certain freedom they never had in neither the Junkyard nor the real world.]

[Whether they are or not, Gale won't look for them. Instead, he'll be heading toward his bed, and once he's there, taking off his armor piece by piece. There's a rather big hole in it, after all.

...Also, he's still kind of damp.]

[Neither of them care much, if at all, about being wet man.]

Need anything?

[He's going to fuss all over you, Gale.]

No. Thank you, Cielo.

[He's looking straight at Cielo as he says it. And, from his tone, he definitely means it about more than just the offer.]

Really? Well, then get some sleep, ja?

[But he'll be here if you need him.]

Yes.

[And he probably won't ask for help.]
