[It's been a year. Normally such a big day would call for some grand romantic gesture, something fancy and dramatic right from the movies, but today just isn't the day for that. The morning may have passed without the aftereffects of spiked punch to consider, but the curse, such as it is, has weighed on him still. Surely it's the same for Eridan.]

[That's why today is simple. They're not going out. They're not even doing anything they couldn't do on a regular day. But to stay in, watch movies, eat takeout, and just enjoy the time together - that still means something. Maybe it's proof of their staying power that even with their personalities, they can be satisfied with this much, too.]

[But that's what they're about to do. Karkat of course is in charge of the movies, and has picked a selection centered on matespritship, some set historically (knowing Eridan's tastes) and some more modern. The first he's just put in the player - not to start, but ready for when they're settled.]

[He stands and looks to Eridan.]

[Eridan would have never guessed it'd last this long, really. Either he figured Karkat would grow tired of him and his drama, or he'd fuck it up somehow, and yet here they are. Half a sweep later and still together. It feels unreal, to be honest. While Karkat fussess with the movies and everything, Eridan just sits there thinking about it--about everything really. Their relationship, what they've been through, what lead up to this, how this could even still be a thing... But also his fears. This last week was HARDLY anything comforting, the fairies first showing up was weird, their appearance even more so! But then, what they become at night... Yeah, Eridan has more or less kept himself locked in his room all week, but he wasn't going to let any dumb curse ruin his anniversary! Besides, it's not night yet anyways. So while his worries and fears are still on his mind, he's trying his best to silence the worrying while he's here spending time with Karkat.]

[When Karkat speaks, he jerks out of his little moment of being lost in thought, his fins perking.]

Only you gettin' your ass ower here.

[And now he's patting to seat next to him and giving him a smile, because he really just wants to get to cuddling and watching these movies with Karkat, get his mind off of the worries this week has all but violently rubbed in his face. Take in the comfort and love from his matesprit that he pities so damned much.]

[Karkat rolls his eyes.]

Dork. I was already planning on that. I'm not just going to stand here like a moron to watch them.

[It's said softly, though, and soon enough he's at the couch. He settles himself down beside Eridan. Cuddling may not be a big thing for him, but on an anniversary with his matesprit, there's really no reason not to indulge. What's flushed romance without some affection, anyway?]

[Eridan just keeps that smile with Karkat's retort. It's pretty obvious Karkat wasn't going to just stand there the whole time, but that didn't mean Eridan couldn't jokingly suggest the obvious. Though, when Karkat does join him--cuddling up to him, Eridan shift, situating himself comfortably and putting an arm around his matesprit and pulling him close.]

Yeah.

[He punctuates that with a kiss to Karkat's cheek, because what's an anniversary without some smooches ok.]

[No surprise whatsoever at the arm, nor the cheek smooch to follow. Karkat shifts just a bit to settle, then thumbs the button to start the movie. Something sea-themed to start out with - easy to find around here, but he's sorted through to find one of the actually good ones.]

Kind of strange to think it's been a whole year already. Nearly a half-sweep.

[Eridan nestles against Karkat. There's hardly a thing he loves more than being able to be this close to his nubby-horned boyfriend. Just the comfort of being alone with him, in their hive, snuggled up and enjoying a movie. Sure, Eridan does enjoy extravagant shit, and fancy nice dates, and other over the top shit he thinks he downright deserves!! But this? The closeness and intimacy of just curling up on the couch with each other, perfectly content in each other's company? Eridan wouldn't trade this for anything.]

Time certainly fuckin' flies, doesn't it?

[Honestly, it feels like yesterday that they were drunkenly walking to their hive, smooching on the way there... However, Eridan's thoughts go elsewhere soon after. Honestly, he's surprised he hadn't fucked something up by now, made Karkat leave him or something. He didn't think this would last, and he wasn't sure what he'd do if it didn't... But here they are.]
