Monthly Mingle Log
Another month has passed and it is time for another oppertunity to mingle. Knowing of the curse that haunts the foreigners, Station Master has taken extra care to plan this party and the preparations only during the daylight hours. Wouldn't want to cause a giant panic, right?
Today, the little tucked away part of the plaza has been livened up with a host of spooky decorations, black cats and witches, skeletons and tomb stones, they have all been placed amongst the food tables, allowing for a casual halloween-ish mood. There are also a lot of pumpkins there, freshly prepared especially for this feast.
The tables of food are back too, filled to the brim with pumpkin pies, pumpkin squash, pumpkin cups cakes, honestly, you can put a pumpkin in and it is there. There are also large bowls of candy, free for the taking.
Naturally the two booths are there again, the one belonging to the welcoming committee, for any new (or old) character with a burning question, and the one belonging to the host club. Who knows what theme they have this week. Only way to find out is to check it out!
Finally, part of the plaza has been set up to allow for the talent contest that was to be held here, organized by a few of the foreigners themselves. Maybe it is time to check it out and see if there are any cool talents on display? Or maybe you have your own talent to display. If so, feel free to visit the show.
As every month, an invitation had gone out to all the foreigners in the day leading up to the party, reminding them of the party, the date, the times, and this time, attached had been an invitation to come dressed up. They might not be able to celebrate Halloween during the evening hours, but maybe a slightly late Halloween party would lift the spirits anyway? Station Master has certainly joined in himself too. For a day, he has exchanged his trusty cap for the scariest thing he could possible think of: a familiar white nurse's cap. 2spooky.

The concept of the Gards-Orm being able to alter the very memories of people, the very things that made their consciousness unique, what was left of their individuality...it made the back of his neck prickle.
Understanding it is difficult, and his brows furrow a bit more. He moves, abruptly, pacing just a bit, back and forth, glancing up at the boy again. There's something almost soothing about his air.]
Hm. I apologize, this is all a little strange to me. May I ask your name? I'm Lu-Shen.

I'm Ky. Kiske.
[Ky smiles, offering out his hand to him to shake.]
no subject
Something about it makes his heart jump just slightly. A relief. He allows a small smile in return.]
It's good to meet you, Ky Kiske.
[When Ky holds his hand out, Lu-Shen reaches out to take it, his fingers curling against Ky's. There's something different about the sensation. A solidity. He can't identify what, exactly, it is that feels different about it, but there's something.
Green eyes jump up to Ky's face, and he pulls his hand back after a quick shake, his heart in his throat.]
Tell me more about where you came from?
no subject
Even in this place, long after the Crusades, Darkleer had suggested as much to Ky, that he could still serve that purpose. That had been before he was kidnapped, but not much about this place has actually changed.]
If you wish. I was born in the Rhône-Alpes region, in France.
[Ky at least, is used to this place, has an idea of how much he has to explain.]
It was during a war, one that had devastated much of the world. There were genetically and magically engineered creatures who were all controlled by the Command Gear, "Justice", who had made their mission to wipe out all of humanity. It had been going on for nearly a hundred years, and while there was still hope, humanity had been taking significant losses.
Europe's army was called the Sacred Order of Holy Knights, blessed by the Church with the mission to defeat the Gears. We...won, because once we defeated Justice and sealed her away the rest of the Gears shut down.
We're seven years past the war, now, and still rebuilding. And dealing with the kind of threat that comes from within rather than without.

But Ky's war has been won, and he's quite young. Perhaps that is why.
A threat from within sounds familiar, though, and Lu-Shen's green eyes stay locked on his face as he finishes what he was saying, and gives a nod.]
So you're a soldier. Though I've never heard of Gears.
[And religion has been something from the past for so long now, at least for him.]
no subject
[ Well, it gets a little complicated past that. Because Justice had done what she had, but there was still Dizzy. And Sol, since being in his body for a week hasn't left Ky with doubts on that front. ]
I wouldn't wish our history on anyone, of course.
As for the rest...I'm not a soldier any longer. I haven't been since the war, I disbanded the Order after it.
[ A hint, at least, that Ky hasn't been an ordinary soldier when he'd been one. It wasn't something Ky talked about much, because it mostly wasn't relevant that he'd once led Europe's army. ]
I'm a police officer, now, in my world. And here, I'm active in the Defense Force, which serves a similar purpose.

He just keeps watching Ky's face, and gives a nod. He wouldn't wish his history on anyone either, though he can't shake the feeling that this is all part of his world, that he's merely found his way into a cut-off server with corrupted memory, something...
His attention is caught by how Ky says he disbanded the Order. Not just any soldier, then. He tucks the bit of knowledge away without commenting further on it, just shifting slightly on his feet, arms at his side, back still just a touch too straight.]
The Defense Force...do the captives here often become violent or rowdy?
no subject
We do our best to contain that when we can, though I won't claim that we're altogether successful.
[Much to Ky's personal distress.]
The Defense Force serves to both attempt to help in those circumstances, as well as on occasions when the scientists responsible for our capture take action that threaten the people here as a whole. That doesn't happen very often but it's best to be prepared.
