Who: Ky Kiske and Open-ish
Where: Zelda and Zelos' house
When: October 1st.
What: Ky's cranky when he's being made to recover.
Style: Use what you're comfortable with.
Status: Open to anyone who would have reason to be in Zelda and Zelos' house and want to talk to Ky or would visit just because he's there. Ky will be staying at Zelda's for 24 hours, feel free to put threads here for any time during that.

[Ky had been content to sleep for a solid six hours once he arrived at Zelda's, where Dhaos took him. By the time he wakes his head feels drastically clearer. The pain hasn't really faded at all, but it is what it is. He's not about to sit around waiting to heal, he has to stop the murderer and kidnapper before he hurts anyone else at all.

Apparently waiting to heal is exactly what Zelda's expecting him to do, as he finds himself forbidden from leaving her house until he's had more of a chance to heal and the drugs have worn off. The idea of that, given what's happened and what's at risk, is revolting, but he doesn't really have the strength to fight her on it. Which is why he's doing what he can, moving around the house frequently to prove that he can and that he's just fine.

He might need to frequently sit down and rest, but he's still clearly capable of being on his feet for at least a little while. He could be doing some searching. He should be.]

[His exasperation shows itself in a sigh and the hand that runs through his hair.]

Are you going to twist my words around so that I'm the bad guy every time?

I trust you to be a workaholic who doesn't know when to give himself a break when he needs it. You're injured and you're only going to prolong your recovery if you don't let it heal.

I don't want to see you hurt any more than you already are, but you don't know how to take it easy --which has nothing to do with you being a child and everything to do with you being a stubborn ass-- so I'm trying to be your friend and be here for you like friends are supposed to be, but you're not letting me!

[He sighed again, that hand coming up to run down his face this time in an effort to calm down.]

When you said I was your friend what did you think that meant? Because it seems like we're in disagreement on a definition.

I'm not trying to make you the bad guy.

I just think that as an adult I should be able to make my own decisions about my health.

[And he's chosen to weigh his mental health over his physical. If he has to run himself into the ground to be able to sleep at night, it's still significantly better than it was during the war.]

It means that I can trust you to have the same underlying goal and understanding when it comes to what's necessary for Vatheon.

Adults are some of the worst when deciding what to do about their health. That's bullshit.

[Ky's response takes Johnny aback and he can't hide the hurt that flickers across his face, but it's swiftly followed and mixed with anger.

He takes a step closer, regard for Ky's personal space evaporating, but doesn't touch him. His tone, meanwhile, turns sharp and cold.]

I may be a knight, but I am not one of your soldiers, Ky. I love Vatheon and would defend it, but it is not my kingdom, it is not your kingdom, and what's 'necessary' for it is not, nor will it ever be more important than your well being.

You are not leading an army here, you are living a life, and that life is what matters to me.

I would die for you knowing I wouldn't come back because you matter; because you are my friend. Don't insult me by insinuating the only thing I care about is what you can do for this fucking city.

[Ky blinks at Johnny, not really feeling much beyond confusion -- and some regret that he's clearly hurt the man, even if he still fails to understand why.]

I'm not trying to give you orders, as if you were a soldier.

[Perhaps that's where Johnny's hurt comes from.]

But I'm not sure you understand. When my parents died...I'm not living my life for me, but for what I can do with it.

[He's faced the fact that he can die before, and it's never stopped him from fighting.]

Perhaps that's not all you care about, but right now, right here? I care about what I can do for this city much more than anything else.

[Johnny's frustration was only mounting, he didn't really want to hit Ky or walk out, but they were both becoming rapidly appealing options.

He was just so annoyed and angry; why couldn't Ky just get it?]

You're not living life for yourself, huh? Funny, cause I seem to remember you telling me once it wasn't good to live for your friends or those you protect, but to be happy for them. That's all we want!

If I can be something other than a monster here, then you can be something other than a soldier, but you have to try.

No one expects anything from you, Ky. They know they can trust you and that you'll do your best with what you have, but for Christ's sake, no one is perfect, no one can do it all on their own, and you are no exception! You're human, you get hurt, and all anyone wants or expects from you at that point is to sit down and fucking rest!

[Yeah, he was a hypocrite himself and calling Ky out on it might not be in best form, but he was at the end of his rope and running out of patience. He had been a priest, not a saint.]

[Ky wishes Johnny weren't swearing, as if that was the biggest problem here right now. Well, no, he knows it's not, but it's the easiest one to focus on, until he tells himself not to.]

If they don't expect anything from me then I just have to expect more from myself.

[He can be something other than a soldier, yes, but there's always going to be a duty. He needs it, just like he can't give up on it. Even here, where it's entirely artificially created by him.]

[want to get rest he wants to say, but that's not quite right, is it? Johnny will just object more, and Ky has been feeling more and more lightheaded. He tries to shove it to the side again, to forget about it, but this time isn't as effective as it should be, as he feels his knees buckle a little. He shifts his legs, but falls abruptly.

He has the presence of mind to not try to catch himself on his right arm, keeping it tucked up below his stomach. His left arm stops most of the momentum, but his knees still hit the floor with a solid thud, and his head presses to the floor a moment after, in a natural conclusion of the entire moment.]

[He was going to hit Ky. He really, really, was. But he didn't get the chance before Ky collapsed and all of Johnny's intentions evaporated.]

Ky!

[He's instantly down next to the man, an arm wrapping around his shoulders and pulling him closer so he can lean on the vampire.]

Ky, are you okay!?

[He was still angry, but, for the moment, it was pushed aside for concern.]

[Ky blinks at the ground for a moment, then lets his head up to look at Johnny.

He feels...kind of out of it, a little bewildered but he leans into the touch, taking the support he needs from it.]

Still conscious, at least.

[Okay probably isn't the right word after all.]

[He sighs.]

You're lucky I don't say 'I told you so.'

[His worry gave way to relief and he shot a slightly-but-not-really annoyed look at the man.]

Now will you believe me that you need to rest?

[Not that Ky seemed in any position to argue at this point, but Johnny didn't want to just force him into resting....without giving him the opportunity to agree first, at least.]

[ Ky sighs, but pushes himself up with his left hand so he's just kneeling. ]

I suppose that I need to is clear enough.

[Johnny stands and offers his hand again.]

Damn straight.

...the couch is a futon, I'll set it up for you and you can rest there as long as you need to. Okay?

[Ky takes the hand, and helps himself the rest of the way while letting Johnny help some.]

And how long will that be?

[The fact Ky was letting help at least a little was good enough.]

As long as it needs to be.

What kind of...person would I be if I let you wonder away without being healthy?

I'm not staying here until I'm one hundred percent. That's not an option.

Sometimes health just takes time.

[He pauses, not really able to argue, he knows he can't keep Ky there that long.]

At least till you're closer to eighty percent? You can barely stay standing right now.

[ Ky sighs, but nods. ]
