Who: Ky Kiske and Open-ish
Where: Zelda and Zelos' house
When: October 1st.
What: Ky's cranky when he's being made to recover.
Style: Use what you're comfortable with.
Status: Open to anyone who would have reason to be in Zelda and Zelos' house and want to talk to Ky or would visit just because he's there. Ky will be staying at Zelda's for 24 hours, feel free to put threads here for any time during that.

[Ky had been content to sleep for a solid six hours once he arrived at Zelda's, where Dhaos took him. By the time he wakes his head feels drastically clearer. The pain hasn't really faded at all, but it is what it is. He's not about to sit around waiting to heal, he has to stop the murderer and kidnapper before he hurts anyone else at all.

Apparently waiting to heal is exactly what Zelda's expecting him to do, as he finds himself forbidden from leaving her house until he's had more of a chance to heal and the drugs have worn off. The idea of that, given what's happened and what's at risk, is revolting, but he doesn't really have the strength to fight her on it. Which is why he's doing what he can, moving around the house frequently to prove that he can and that he's just fine.

He might need to frequently sit down and rest, but he's still clearly capable of being on his feet for at least a little while. He could be doing some searching. He should be.]

[And it's incredibly frustrating to him.]

I feel a good deal better now then I did when Dhaos first brought me here. You can think whatever you want, but I'm an adult and I take care of myself.

I won't stop you from doing as you please - but starting tomorrow. This is not only out of concern for you. We do not know all the effects of the drugs that were administered to you, but we do know that you were hallucinating or at the very least severely confused as to your surroundings. Everyone in this house can fight, but if you were to go patrolling you might very well attack someone who cannot defend themselves thinking that they were someone or something else entirely.

[Zelda rubs at her forehead, then looks at him with a slightly pleading expression.]

Please, Ky. Rest. Just today.

I don't think I'm hallucinating any longer.

I don't know what to do if I'm not working, Zelda. I don't want to just think about things right now, I want to do something.

[Oh, that's a feeling she knows all too well. Zelda lowers her eyes, shifting around a little uncomfortably.]

...you are a good man, Ky. You're driven and you always seek to do the right thing. It is why I am comfortable working with you despite our differences. Sometimes, though, people with incredible will and motivation burn themselves out. I do not want to see that happen to you. I know that it is difficult to truly rest when you know just what's out there, but you must. This person is clever, and we need to be at our best to catch them. We can't do it if we don't take care of ourselves. If your mind cannot rest and be at ease...

[Wow this is awkward.]

Would... you allow me to sing for you? I know a song that may help.

[Ky holds himself uncomfortably while she talks about him the way she apparently wants to. He's not sure what to do with the praise -- it's not something he's used to getting and she's doing it at the same time she criticizes him for pushing himself too hard.

At the same time, she does have a point.

His shoulders lift up and then down again in a shrug.]

Does your song invoke your goddesses?

[Wait. ...Seriously?]

[He's injured and scared and possibly still drugged, she can't fly off the handle at him even if she really wants to. Deep breaths.]

Unless you would consider just the fact that it comes from me to be coming from my goddesses, then no, it does not. I did read up on your religion after our initial conversation. I would not attempt to do such a thing.

[No matter how incredibly wrong and narrow-minded he is, she wouldn't try to push her religion on him in this state. Who the hell does he think she is?!]

Ahh... Thank you.

[Maybe himself, since he wouldn't necessarily be trusted to not offer his religion as the only solace he knows how to give. It isn't really that he doesn't trust her, it's that he's kind of suspicious of most things right now, and he's looking for an excuse not to give in to what she's offering. Usually there are plenty of those.]

Then if you wouldn't mind, I think I would...appreciate that.

[True to Ky's wishes, she doesn't take out her harp. It's a relic of the goddess, after all. She doesn't need it for the song to have an effect, though she does prefer to have it. Her own magic is enough. She starts to sing, face almost instantly relaxing again once the words start to fall from her lips.]

[It's a rather melancholy song, but if the listener submits to it, it does have quite the calming effect. She's used it more than once to calm some of the spirits wandering Castle Town. It has its uses in Vatheon, too. People here carry a lot of pain and have little opportunity to relieve it - like a spirit that can't move on, they're just trapped.]

[Ky lets it wash open, some of the tension draining out of him as he sits back, not sure if he should trust what the song makes him feel but so desperate for a little relief that he'll still take it.]

[There's still a sort of serenity about her even after the song ends and the faintly golden light starts to fade.]

I learned "Ave Maria" as well. It's a lovely hymn.

["Thou canst hear though from the wild, Thou canst save amid despair..." It might not be terrible for him to hear that. It's surely more familiar than the Song of Healing.]

I wouldn't want to ask you if you weren't comfortable.

..,But if you are it would mean a lot.

[It's not as if she finds all of Ky's religion to be disagreeable. The part that rankles her most is the insistence that all other viewpoints are invalid. The idea of prayer itself is something she understands very well. While she might not prefer Ky's god, she doesn't think that he's false entirely. Ky is not a stupid man, after all. There must be some proof that his god exists, just as there is for her goddesses.

With this song she does pull out her harp. There's no danger of accidentally invoking the power of the goddess, there's no magic behind this song. The accent on her latin is just a bit odd, but it's still understandable. Zelda closes her eyes and begins to sing, beseeching the mother of Ky's god to grant him some peace.]

[Ky lets the sound wash over him. He feels faintly ridiculous, being sung to like this, when he knows the words don't have the emotional connection to her -- when he's not even sure why she would go about learning it. Still, there's a part of just hearing her sing it that makes him feel a little like a child again, not in a bad way or in a good way, it's just that that what it's doing.

The words themselves... Ky starts to smile as he relaxes further, the promise that God cares even for sinners, that there can be peace.]

[He'd be surprised just how much the song means to her. There's a reason she memorized this one out of all the hymns she read. Mother Mary is a figure she can respect.]

Lady Mary was quite amazing, wasn't she? To have the grace to accept not only her own destiny, but that of people that she loved, even if it was painful... I am not that strong.

[She wants to be, though. She can't keep coddling Link.]

I know I'm not as well. It's...good, though, to have someone we can always look up to, who will always be stronger than us.

You're being very kind, though, to give me a chance to recover here, in your house.

[Never mind that it wasn't optional, she's still clearly doing this because she's concerned for him. Even if he'll continue to believe that concern to be misplaced.]

I am a little surprised to hear you say that.

[Now that Ky is sitting still, Zelda rises again and picks up a slim notebook, holding it out to him.]

These are Kratos's observations thus far. He wanted me to look them over since I apparently know a lot of people here in the city, but I don't know everyone. Would you like to look at them together?

[He's a little more relaxed now, so maybe if she gives him some new evidence he can feel like a little progress has been made. Maybe even enough so that he'll be able to sleep tonight.]

I can see why. I know I'm not really a good house-guest.

[He shrugs, but takes the notebook eagerly.]

I'd love to. If you don't mind.

[She moves close enough so that they can both see the notebook. There are a decent amount of observations - that based on people's recollections, it's likely a male, it's probably an Earthling since cursory research didn't turn up other planets using tarot cards, calculations involving the trajectory that would have been needed to make that head wound on Bianca... Kratos is incredibly thorough.

It shouldn't come as a surprise what he does later, considering this.

They wouldn't make much progress, but hopefully Ky would have some new facts to occupy his mind with and not feel at a complete loss for a little while at least.]

[It's enough to help, certainly, and he abstractly recognizes the value of rest on the path to healing. With his mind chasing possibilities -- trying to compare who he's met in Vatheon with the theorized description of the murderer... At least it gives him something more than the guilt he feels for not being able to remember anything himself.

He's been thinking about the notebook and letting his thoughts chase themselves when he yawns. He hides it behind his hand, but nods to Zelda when he's finished.]

I think a nap might be a good idea, just now.

[She takes the notebook back, intending on forcing Kratos to add more the next time he drops by to check on Lloyd. Theorizing on who the murderer might be isn't exactly the most relaxing topic, but Ky had confessed that his mind can't settle down. If he feels like he's being productive, hopefully he'll be able to rest just a little easier.]
