[Trunks' eyes flew open, his expression panicked and afraid--it might have been only two months since he disappeared from Vatheon, but for him it had been much longer.

And much more eventful.

And of course, he'd forgotten all about Vatheon until now, seeing the coral was bringing everything back--his mother, father, sister, Gohan...but of course there were the memories of back home, the appearance of the androids, Cell, the violent fighting between the crazed, perfection-obsessed android and the other fighters, Goku's sacrifice...

...the death beam coming at him out of the sudden storm, far too fast to dodge or block, even if he could, even if he were strong enough...

His dripping wet, long hair stuck to his face and neck as he sat up and looked down at the ragged hole in his chest armor, his blood still stubbornly staining the broken edges (it would be worse in back, so much worse...)

Well. Shit.]

...it couldn't have been two seconds earlier?

[Some rescue you are, stupid coral.]

[People make a lot of assumptions when dealing with Vegeta. One of those is that he's as heartless as he generally acts. He certainly doesn't blame people for thinking as such, and in fact, he prefers it.

Generally.

For some reason, he feels just a little kinder today. It's something that's always present within him, but it's usually overwhelmed by his pride and essentially invisible. When he feels Trunks arrive, he's at the coral in moments, trying to not gape at the evidence of a wound that had surely been fatal. Rather than sneer at him for dying or demand to know where he's been or something more typical, he offers a hand down to him wordlessly.]

[The lack of sneering and demanding strikes Trunks as incredibly strange, especially with what happened in recent memory. The hand offered is downright shocking, and if he couldn't sense energy he would've thought he was hallucinating instead of looking up at his father.

Guess he really is back.]

Father...?

[...you look a lot older than the last time he saw you here. He reaches up and takes the outstretched hand--a bit hesitantly because after the last extended amount of time he spent around Vegeta, he almost expected it to be pulled away, or to be followed by a punch that'd floor him again. You definitely weren't nice in the Room of Spirit and Time.]

[There's no incoming punch, though it's highly possible that Trunks might flinch as Vegeta claps a hand on his shoulder once he gets to his feet, looking at him appraisingly. No, considering the location of the wound and the fact that it goes straight through to the back, there's no way the boy could have survived. He curls his newly-restored tail around his waist before his eyes travel back up towards Trunks' face.]

I take it time has passed for you, as well.

[Yeah, he's a little jumpy. Sorry, it's been a really long week. And he just got death beamed through the chest. He would really like to rinse the blood out of his mouth now.]

Yeah. A couple weeks, or a couple years, depending on if you're asking real time or perceived...I can't really remember.

[And perceived isn't even the right word, because he experienced those two years: the fact that he's grown a couple inches, been obviously training--and hard, and that his hair has grown past his shoulders is evidence of that, but real-time it's only been three weeks tops, he can't be exactly sure. His perception's wonked. Time shenanigans. Hate.]

[Angelo was out for the day having no particular reason to be out except get out of the house to stretch his legs. Though on this day, he spots a familiar face quite literally in fact as they both look the same. But regardless of everything, the templar walks over to his twin looking up and down at him. Obviously even he can the boy has grown over time and sporting a hairstyle similar to his own. Instead of trying to be all full of gloom or cause the mood to be, he tries to be more lighthearted about it.]

Well well. If it isn't the boy with my face, it would seem as though you've returned.

[He takes his hand back, crossing his arms over his chest. What is Trunks even talking about? Real time or perceived time? Either way, he can easily tell that he stands taller than he did before, and the hair is impossible to miss.]

You should get cleaned up before the woman sees you.

[In Vegeta's mind, avoiding any wailing from Bulma is a kindness not only to Trunks but to the entire bubble.]

[The death implied by the hole in his chest armor is probably enough to bring down the mood all by itself. He'll just sit here dripping slightly pink water onto the cobblestones if it's alright with you.]

Yeah, so it would.

[Feeling as though he needs to be kind, he sighs and holds his hand out for Trunks as if showing he wants to help him. Since he might try showing some sympathy or what he thinks he feels as sympathy.]

Come on, let's get you something new to wear and cleaned up.

[The time traveling and dilation is enough to melt anyone's brain if you think about it too hard, Vegeta. Trunks' gaze goes somewhat distant as he casts out his senses--he can feel Mom, out there somewhere, but there's a distinct lack where Bulla had been, and he can't be sure of Gohan since both of them hide their energies as a habit.]

...yeah, probably.

[He'd grab a towel from the nearest local, but it's much easier to just power up a bit--the heat and swirling air from his energy displacing it works like a full-body hair dryer, and he gets a handful of water from the fountain to rinse the blood out of his mouth. Now he just needs clothes that aren't bloodied and he'll be...well, able to pass inspection at least, even if he still smells like he's covered in his own blood.]

They've got a shower and robes in that place over there.

[He jerks a thumb over his shoulder indicating the Welcome Center, starting that way. Vegeta himself is in casual clothing rather than his armor - there's not really a place to buy proper clothing here, and he didn't arrive in it this time, so he's been out of luck. Asking Trunks what the hell happened can wait until he's made himself presentable in case of sudden Bulma.]

[He is not used to kindness. He is used to being gruffly told to gtfo and perhaps getting punched in the gut. This is strange to him. But he reaches up to take Angelo's hand, even if he's largely getting up on his own--he's a lot heavier than he looks, after all.]

[He just nods before moving off--verbal communication has become a rather low priority.

He's back in a short while, dry again, and he's done one better than the robe and quickly found a pair of black pants and a white tank top in a shop--he's still wearing his boots, but the bodysuit and armor have been stashed away in a locker for now. Not that they weren't probably a loss.]

[He just watches him and doesn't really say anything for a bit, but then when the other is on his feet he speaks up again.]

I see you're sporting a hairstyle similar to mine, I didn't think I was such an influence on you. [He's teasing about that of course.]

[Eyebrow. Glad you're so flattered but he didn't even remember you existed.]

I could cut my hair again if it freaks you out too badly.

[Oh Trunks, you do not understand how Angelo works if you think that.]

Freaks me out? Don't be ridiculous. In fact... [There's a large smirk upon his face now, as if he shows a hint of excitement and those gears in his hear are already beginning to work.] This gives me an idea.

[He thinks he's starting to get an idea.]

No.

[See?]

[Stop being such a stubborn goat.]

Don't shoot my idea down when you haven't even heard it.

[It's an unavoidable fate for the spawn of Bulma and Vegeta, I fear.]

I am not doing the coordinated 'twin' thing.

[...it sounds like something Bulla would be excited to play around with okay.]

[You're not getting out of this easily, Trunks. Angelo is not one to give up on an idea.]

[Even a Vegeta with his "kindness" amplified doesn't know how to socialize properly. With the basics out of the way, he doesn't know what else to do. He just looks awkwardly at Trunks, expecting him to start talking about... whatever it is that's bothering him. He's quite talkative, after all.

In comparison to Vegeta.]

[And Trunks is out of practice. He at least looks embarrassed after a period of awkward silence.]

...well if we're just going to stare at each other we might as well do it inside.

[They can stare over food.]

Is that your favorite word? Do you enjoy saying that to people? Well, two can play at this game. [He gets very close to Trunks' face and glares at him.] I tried being nice, but you insist on being difficult.

[The silence doesn't seem to bother Vegeta quite as much. He rolls his shoulders and nods, heading towards his favorite restaurant on the plaza. The waiters start scrambling as usual upon seeing him, but instead of looking smug and sitting down to wait...]

There's no rush.

[Well of course Bulma's happy to see her baby boy again, overjoyed in fact.

But still, hope you enjoy having your hair tugged out of your face and tug-tug-tugged.]

Honey, what's this? Is that a wig? Did Angelo put you up to this?
