In the plaza, it seems that there's yet another newcomer.

...One that looks like he might not have lasted in the process of arriving.

He's lying face down on the cobblestone, soaking wet, dark shadowy veins standing out against his deathly pale skin. His clothing is covered with unidentifiable stains, and he smells like dust kicked up by a rainstorm. It's the very definition of One Dead Human. Except for the small black horns sticking out from underneath his hair.

Finally he stirs, his voice tinged by a dull echo as he groans in the effort of trying to pull himself to his feet. He gets to his knees before he starts coughing, spitting out seawater that's followed by a thick black smoke that settles like dust on the ground.

...Yeah, he's definitely not looking so good. He may need a hand or two.

Fai hurries over to the man's side and reaches out to place a comforting hand on his back as he kneels down next to him.

"You don't look so good..is there anything I can do to help? I'm not much of a medic but maybe I can help you to one if that is what you need."

He looks up at the sudden contact. The sudden voice of a stranger. ...and now that Fai is closer, he'll see two splotches of black blood on both his thigh and his chest. Healed wounds thanks to the Lamufao, but those eyes.

They're bright, piercing blue, glowing with an otherworldly light. The man grabs Fai's arm with surprising strong, gritting his teeth in anger.

"Where is she?!"

Fai knew the power of blue eyes very well. He once had two of his own that held all of his magical power inside of him. Now only one golden eye stares back, seemingly unmoved by the intense gaze.

"I'm not sure who she is...Is there someone here you are looking for? Or is she on your home world?"

Fai isn't sure if this is a newcomer or not but all he can do is try to calm the man down if he can. There is a slight flinch as that grab to his arm is a little stronger then he expected but nothing else to indicate discomfort.

Wander stares at the other man in confusion. His gaze darts around the plaza. "Where am I? Where's the temple...?"

Better yet, the altar. Mono. He remembers being dragged away from her, no matter how hard he tried to run. No matter how hard he tried to hold onto the stairs. The rim of the pool at the far end of Dormin's temple.

And then he'd lost his grip, the wind drawing him down into the water...

His grip faltered, his gaze focused on the ground. He didn't remember what happened after Eker's sword impaled him through the chest... But Emon had done something. And now he was here. Wherever "here" was. And Mono was nowhere to be seen.

This only confirmed that this man was new. Fai almost felt sorry for him..it seems like he went through quite an ordeal before getting there. Fai smiles softly, trying to comfort him a little.

"This is not the world you knew. People like to call this place the bubble..well it has several names. But just know that this isn't the world you were once on. You got brought here..and healed by this world..It's very complicated."

Fai knew that it wouldn't do much good to explain things until the man calmed down a bit more.

"....It doesn't matter."

He was warned. A heavy price. And now he's separated from Mono by more than distance. But if she's alive again, if the Dormin lived up to their bargain...that's all he can ask for. Even if he can never see her again, he can live with that.

Fai placed a hand gently on his back and rubbed it lightly. "I'm sorry for whatever happened. It's not really my business to ask..so I won't push you to tell me. But you should see about finding a place to live and to get cleaned up. I can help if you would like. I can take you back to my place to at least get clean."

He didn't entirely understand why he was here. At the very least he should be sealed in the world of spirits. Or the land of the dead. It still felt far more like a dream than reality.

The touch, on the other hand, was starting to unnerve him. He pulled away from it and tried to stand. His body felt heavy. Foreign.

Even so, he didn't feel comfortable asking for a stranger's help.

Fai reached out to help the other stand if he felt so inclined. "You probably should just take it easy. If you want, you can touch the coral and it might make you feel a little better. It has the ability to heal, but it looks like most of your wounds have already done that. I'm guessing you'll just need to rest for awhile."

Rest. It sounded strange. How long had it been since he slept longer than a short nap? Even when he passed out after each colossus' death, it was never for very long.

Wander accepted the offer gratefully, leaning heavily on the stranger's arm as he stood. His legs felt unsteady. "I just...need sleep. That's all."

"I wonder if there is anyone you know in this world. If there is, maybe you can stay with them. Otherwise you'll have to find your own place..something you might not be up to doing right now." Fai helped the man towards the coral. They could at least try the touching thing.

"I've slept outside before." Propped up against one of the Dormin's many shrines. His head lowered to block out the neverending flood of light. The sun never set in the forbidden land.

He touched the coral. Strange how it looked like a plant, but felt as if it were made of stone. He shouldn't be so surprised. The colossi looked to be creatures of flesh and blood, but their fur felt more like grass and stone stuck out at awkward angles, like bone.

Wander pulled his hand back when he realized it was affecting his body. Easing his exhaustion, relieving the heaviness in his body. Magic. Something he could never entirely trust again.

Fai reached out and touched it himself. He hadn't really done it lately and the odd feeling of the power inside of it was still fascinating for him. "You shouldn't have to though. Our apartment is small but as I said, you can stay there for tonight and then when you feel up to it tomorrow you can look for your own place."

Wander pulled his hand back and rubbed it as if he'd been burned by the strange plant. But the stranger's offer was reminding him of home. And at home, one didn't refuse hospitality of any kind.

"Thank you." He hesitates a moment before he remembers something else. "...my name is Wander."

Fai smiles brightly, glad that the man was finally calmed down enough to introduce himself. "Fai D. Flourite. It's nice to meet you Wander-san."

...the suffix to his name is strange, but he doesn't say anything. "Likewise."

He's too tired to smile back. At least the coral eased his headache...

"Would you like to stop and get something to eat? It might help you get your strength back. Or I can take you right to a place where you can rest."

Fai isn't going to just let Wander stay out in the elements. He is going to take the man home unless he protests a lot.

"...I'd like that. Thank you."

Wander rubbed at his right arm. He'd never realized how sore he was until the magic of the coral alleviated it...

"I'll take you to a nice cafe I know. They have good food and all the people are really friendly. We'll get you nice and full and ready for a good nap!" Fai smiled brightly and reached out to hep Wander in the direction of the cafe he was talking about.

...It had been a while since he'd seen people this happy. Despite being exhausted, Wander smiled at Fai's enthusiasm. He didn't know what a "cafe" was, but food that wasn't strange fruit or lizard tails sounded good to him.

"All right."

He accepted the help without complaint. Wander could walk all right on his own...it was his balance that seemed to be off.

Fai hooked his arm through Wanders and led him straight to the cafe and to one of the outside patio tables. He enjoyed being able to watch the people as they walked by. He then went and got a couple of the menus as asked the waitress to bring a couple glasses of water before heading back to the table and sitting down himself.

He placed the menu in front of Wander, "Just pick out whatever sounds really good! They have all kinds of snacks and sandwiches and yummy things."

...What an odd man.

Wander rubbed his arm again when they sat down. Fai acted so much like a woman. But he was kind, and kindness had been severely lacking for him lately. Rather than come off as ungrateful, he directed his attention to the menu.

And stared.

"I...don't know what any of this is."

(ooc: sorry about Wander's culture shock. XD He'll need a metric ton of patience...)

It wouldn't be the first time Fai was compared to a woman. Fai picked up his own menu and pointed to various things on it, "I'm not sure what you had on your world as far as food, but all of these sandwiches are really good. Is there a particular food you like to eat?"

((ooc: no worries. Fai is very patient XD))

He doesn't know what a sandwich even is. Or any of these markings. But at least there seems to be...some kind of drawing? Crisper than any drawing he'd seen. Almost like an imprint of the thing, somehow.

"It's not a favorite, exactly. but it's what the hunters always ate when they returned from a hunt. Leftovers folded into dough and baked. After eating nothing but dried meat and a little cheese all day, it was always nice to have that when we got home."

The waitress set their glasses down. "Sounds like a shepherd's pie to me. I'll have them bring it right out. What about you, Mr. Flourite?"

((ooc: and if swapping NPC duty isn't a thing for you, just let me know and I'll edit. ^^; ))

Fai nods as he listens to Wander describe the food. It isn't anything he is familiar with so he is glad the waitress seems to understand.

"It sounds interesting! I hope you like it when she brings it."

Fai then turns his attention the waitress and smiles, "I'm not very hungry right now so I'll just have a piece of cake." Even though Fai doesn't need normal food to survive, he can't resist the sweets in the cafe.

When the woman leaves, Wander relaxes a bit. Her black hair had him hoping...but what were the chances that Mono would be here, working for...whoever owned this place? He goes silent as they wait, his mind elsewhere.

Fai watches him for a bit, letting him relax before finally breaking the silence again, "The device we are given has names on it. You can go through that and see if there are people you know here. It also shows you maps of this world and keeps track of your money."

Fai takes his own out and sets it on the table, "This world takes some getting used to if you aren't familiar with this kind of technology, but it isn't too hard to figure out."

Wander stares at the device like he's been confronted with a strange-looking bug. "What is that?"

"You use it to communicate with people. You should have one too. Its a gift from the world." Fai opened up the contact list and scrolled down until he found Wander's name. "See..there you are! If I ever need to talk to you all I have to do is select your name and your device will ring."

Wander hesitated, then reached into one of his side pouches that hung from his belt. He knew it felt heavier than normal. Sure enough, there was the strange-looking thing that Fai held in his hand.

No pictures this time. He looked it over with confusion. All these strange marks...what were they?

"I'll call you so you can see what kind of sound it makes." He presses the name on the screen and waits for the device to ring.

"After you have rested I can show you some of the functions of it."

He startles at the sound. It's so unlike anything he's ever heard before. "So...it's for communicating over long distances?"

The screen confuses him, and to make the sound stop, he presses the first button he can find over his thumb. At least it hung up the call instead of answering it. "This isn't like anything I've seen before."

"A lot of worlds don't have technology like this. It just takes some getting used to. But you can call anyone you want, no matter where they are..as long as they are on this world." Fai scrolls up and pauses when he gets to his own name..which shows up twice.

Fai points to his name, "Fai D. Flourite is me..the one that is simply listed as Fai is my brother. If you ever need me, that is how you would call me."

"Is that what these marks are? Words?" Wander stares at them, trying to commit the marks to memory. That was... Just one more thing that made his world was so different. All of their knowledge was passed down through the voice of the shamans.

Of course, this really just confirms the fact that Wander can't read.

"Can I see your device for a moment?" Fai could figure out what the issue was and he had a plan to make things easier.

"All right." He handed it over without comment, still thinking on the repercussions of this. If they had a written language back home... Well, it would ensure that they never had to listen to Emon drone on and on ever again. Which would be why the old man would probably proclaim it blasphemy or some nonsense.

After all, if some of the markings he'd seen in the forbidden land were words too...

Fai held the camera up and pushed a button. A small clicking sound was heard and then he looked at the screen and pushed a few more buttons. "There!" Fai set it back down on the table and next to his name on the contact list was a little picture.

"Now all you have to do is look for my picture and you will know that you are calling me! If you do that for everyone you meet, it will make it easier to find them on the long list."

This was a very alarming development. Lenna dropped what she was doing immediately when she hears the coughing, rushing over to its source. She crouched down near him, giving little thought to the possibility that coughing up smoke might be contagious.

"Sir, can you breathe?" There was little sense in asking 'are you well?', after all. "Please hang in there, I'll try to help."

He hesitated. Through his grogginess the girl's voice sounds so much like...

"...Mono?"

No. She's not. Mono has the most beautiful black hair. He tries to get to his feet, but his legs are wobbly. He weaves uncertainly even in a crouch and his knees fall back to the ground. The pain isn't so bad. He's suffered worse.

She didn't understand what that meant, but it sounded like he was adressing someone.

"...I'm sorry, I don't know anyone with that name." Her tone was apologetic, and she took a deep breath, clearing her mind and preparing herself to try using white magic. She paused before actually casting any healing spells, though. Because- well, he kind of looked like he may well have undead, and the last thing she wanted was to do more damage.

"I think I can help you, but I need to know something first. It's a very personal question and I don't wish to be invasive but- are you dead? I can use healing magic, but I fear that it might do more harm to you than good if you are."

He freezes at the question. "Dead? ...no. I'm not dead. Why would you think..."

Why no, no he hasn't actually seen what he looks like.

"Oh, never mind then! I'm very sorry for my rudeness, I should be able to help you." She doesn't question it further, there are people here who are grey, after all, and all sorts of others. Maybe that was just how he looked.

Either way, now that she was confident that he was not actually a zombie she started to concentrate on healing spells. After a moment of quiet chanting, she cast Cura on him.

"Is that any better?"

[Sola's taken some time to himself after everything that had happened and people watching in the plaza is usually fairly interesting, though when he sees the man with horns cough up what seems to be a shadow, he jumps to his feet and runs right over.]

Are you alright!?

*He doesn't feel all right at all. There's still phantom pain from where he was wounded by Emon's men. His head still hurts. But the sound of another voice is...startling.

He looks up at Sola, still trying to catch his breath.*

Where am I...? Where's...

You're in Vatheon. It's under the oceen. You look hurt, you should touch the coral! C'mon.

[Without hesitation, Sola leans over to help Wander to his feet.]

I'm Sola, what's your name?

*The coral? What's a coral? Well at any rate, he does appreciate the help. He feels dizzy for a moment, and he stops to lean against the stranger until it passes.*

...Wander. My name is Wander.

It's nice to meet you, Wander.

[The Hylian guides Wander to the coral, urging the taller man to touch it.]

Do you feel any better?

*he doesn't reply for a moment. The texture of the coral fascinates him. It feels almost like stone, but it looks like a plant of some kind.*

I'm not as tired. *he looks back at Sola.* It's magic?

I think so. There's lots of magic plants and stuff where I come from so the coral kind of reminds me of home.

[He reaches out to touch it as well, palm flat against the surface.]

There used to be fairies too but... well, they're gone now.
