[ today had been a pretty bad day thus far. for starters, some local had been hammering obnoxiously on the wall adjacent to his apartment room all morning for god knows what reason— he'd only just moved in there recently, so it's likely they were doing some kawaii remodeling and didn't realize it was at the price of adachi's entitled self-comfort. so if he doesn't look like he's gotten much sleep, it's because he hasn't. also on the list of Things That Went Wrong: spilling coffee all over himself, losing his sfc, his front door malfunctioning, and discovering he was out of groceries by the time he came back home for the night. cool.
after finding out he'd misplaced his shoes somehow, he'd slipped on some blue flipflops and gone out to get some more groceries. what was supposed to have been quick and easy and put some dinner in his stomach had turned out to be the icing on his cake of suffering for the day.
he'd gotten on the elevator which had been fine—
until it had stopped halfway up and hanamura had gotten on. of all people... second time in less than a week, too. geez, was vatheon really that small... he was already irritated, so he was planning on just ignoring him; he was sure hanamura wouldn't have a problem with returning the favor. although it was especially awkward, because he'd gotten on with— god what was her name, again... that one chick. he was crossing his fingers she wouldn't say anything to him, either; especially since she was the more likely of the two to talk to him—
—when the lights went out. also cool. ]

It doesn't help that they've had considerably bad days themselves since their arrival. What was supposed to be a harmless, pleasant shopping trip turned into a disaster clusterfuck of not being able to find anything they wanted or needed, tripping over things, knocking things off shelves, finding rotten food (ew) --
And now this.
This--
She's just barely opened her mouth to say something to their new companion when when the lights go out and her heart skips a beat.]
... H-Hey. What did you do?!
[...it isn't clear which one of them she's talking to.]
