I've been believing in something so distant, as if I was human...
Who: Rin, Shing, Kohaku, Vanitas [Open thread here!]
Where: Starting at Shing and Kohaku's apartment
When: Early evening
Style: Prose
Status: CLOSED
WARNING: Character death, blood, violence, all the things that go with having Vanitas involved
Grocery bags on his arms, sword on his back, Rin walked through the city to a familiar apartment complex not that far from his own. After what had happened at the ice cream shop and his visit to them, Kohaku had given Rin a key to their apartment, saying that if he ever needed to go some place that wasn't his own home or Maka's, or if he just wanted to come over and cook without having to be invited, he could go there even when they weren't home. And it really had become like a second home to him. It was familiar, comfortable, and reminded him of when he still lived at the abbey, cooking meals for the priests.
For all the things that had been tripping him up lately, Rin was feeling surprisingly optimistic with his current situation. He had good friends, a great girlfriend, and had managed to hold down a job for longer than a month for the first time in years. Vatheon had it's fair share of annoyances, sure, but it had been a surprisingly good place for Rin. Even if he did miss his brother and other classmates back home.
These were the thoughts that kept him moving, and the thoughts he was going over when he approached the apartment and headed to the floor where Shing, Kohaku and Beryl lived. Something made him stop, though, his hand hovering above the door handle. A strange feeling came over him, like the crawling sensation of being watched.
He wheeled around, but nothing except the empty hallway and the dulled yellowed lights greeted him. One flickered down the way, some three or four doors down, but nothing else moved. There was no noise, no movement, absolutely nothing that should have given him that feeling.
Yet it was still there.
His blue eyes narrowed at the flickering light, but after a few minutes he sighed and shook his head.
"Damnit... get it together..." he mumbled to the air, finally turning the key in the door and heading inside.
It was nothing... right?
((ooc: Alright, this is the log for the plot that was recently discussed on the OOC comm! Obviously it's closed, but there should be room for reactions and other things at a later point! ))

{action} we're too srs for parties whatchu talkin' 'bout
Though he was still unsure as to whether or not the attacks were from before or after arriving here, Yuri sighed. "In any case, it sounds like a fine mess we've gotten involved in."
{action} so srs B|
He remained hunched over on the couch, one arm across his stomach (which was feeling terribly ill after all that) and other hand clutching the Kurikara tightly. He blinked a few times, silent after her introduction until it finally registered that she had even said her name.
"... Estellise-san... ?" he echoed, though it came out sounding closer to "Esuteriize". He finally straightened, rubbing the back of his hand across his eyes and he mumble-stumbled his way through a proper introduction. "Uhm... Rin... Okumura..."
{action} y'all are awful liars.
Perhaps a smile was something he needed?
... No, probably not.
Estelle's expression became gentle again; concerned, and almost fond. She barely knew this boy, but her heart had already gone out to him.
"It's nice to meet you, Rin," she said softly, a sheepish expression flashing across her face for only a moment.
"... I'll bet we both wish it could have been under better circumstances, though."
Estelle reached out and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. The way he was holding his stomach worried her.
"Rin, perhaps you should lay down ... Do you need me to get you anything?"
{action} Parties are for loozers
"Hopefully it'll be resolved soon enough. We don't need to compound our problems."
{action} parties can't fucking handle us, don'tcha know
"And no problem. Think nothing of it." he added, almost as an afterthought. Really, the only reason he got involved was because he didn't want his own friends becoming crispy critters thanks to that rampage...
{action} can't be tamed
When Estelle touched him, he tensed suddenly, squeezing his eyes shut against the renewed wave of nausea that came over him. The conversations were getting harder to follow, words tuning in and out, even the ones being spoken directly at him. He managed to catch that Estelle was asking if he wanted to lie back down, but he couldn't form a very coherent answer.
"I... don't feel... very good..."
{action} :T
"H-Here! Use this if you feel like you're going to be sick, okay?"
Because really, wasn't that the first thing you thought of when someone said they didn't feel good? She then knelt by Rin again, placing a hand on his back and gently starting to rub it.
{action} I'll be making a rave corner over here for those of us to awesome for normal parties
punkfire-spewing demon get close at this point. With him calmed down, though, Jade didn't mind the invasion into the apartment. He moved to go sit on the piano chair, seeing as the couch was still being used up by the boy."Just lie down for now and wait for the nausea to pass." Because so help him he doesn't care how beat to hell you are; if you upchuck on his carpet you will be the one to clean it up posthaste.
