12th Combo - Such a positive influence
Who: Lloyd and Angelo
Where: Yutopil apartments to start, heading to the casino
Style: [action]
Status: Closed
[It hadn't been easy, but Lloyd was finally satisfied with the repairs that he'd done to the sink. The "dish drying rack" was another story, but one that Lloyd didn't see as anywhere near as vital. He and Angelo had running water in the sink again, which meant they could do the dishes. That meant they could eat in their own home again. Not something they necessarily did all that often, but it was still nice to have the option.
Swiping a hand across his forehead, Lloyd stands up and stretches.]
Hey, Angelo! I'm done with the sink!

Hey, Angelo! I'm done with the sink!

[And off to his room he goes, changing into something he thinks is more suitable (no pun intended) for the occasion. That and he's a little tired of wearing the same clothes almost every day, so he wants an excuse to try something new on. He'll also not be wearing his usual shiny white boots, but instead a nice pair of black dress shoes. So after changing and taking quite a while to do just that, he returns to Lloyd to show off his new attire.]
Well? How do I look?
no subject
He eyes Angelo's new clothes a little warily.]
...you look like Sebastian. Do you really have to wear things like that?
no subject
I'm don't know who this Sebastian is, but I'm dressing this way because I want to. So yes, I do.
no subject
[He's never been entirely sure exactly what it was Sebastian did.]
So you're saying I have to dress like that?
no subject
You don't have to dress the same way as I do, Lloyd. I'll find something that suits your tastes since this is how I wish to dress.
no subject
All right. Well, I'm ready to go when you are.
[He's already heading for the door.]
no subject
Let us spend a few moments in this store, I'm certain there's something in here that suits you.
no subject
So, anything in this store is dressy enough for a casino?
[What exactly are his options?]
no subject
Why don't you help me choose something? I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with your tastes yet.
no subject
I'm not familiar with my tastes. I've never bought anything like this before. I haven't really bought all that many clothes at all. Dad always made what I wore.
[But now that he has the option, he might as well at least look.]
I want it to be comfortable, something I can still move around in. And it needs a belt for my swords to hang on.
[He'd like something in red, too, but there doesn't seem to be too many clothes in that particular color. Not anything he'd wear, anyway. He holds up a shirt and makes a face.]
I'm not wearing something like this.
no subject
[Searching through more of the store, he finds a red suit and shows it to Lloyd.]
Well I found something with a belt and it looks fairly comfortable. It's also in red, which I assumed was the color you wanted to wear.
Aalsdjfaklsjsf;ask [/DIES]
That looks way too hot, and it...
[How does he say this? His frowns stubbornly, then decides to just be blunt.]
There's no way I'm wearing that. It looks weird.
[He shoves his own shirt back on the rack, then sighs in resignation.]
I guess it doesn't have to be red. Something more like what I'm wearing, though.
[He pokes halfheartedly through the clothes.]
Black's too dark for me. I guess blue or white.
ilu too
We'll find something for you soon enough.
no subject
But maybe the rest isn't all that bad. He kind of wants this over with, too, so they can get on to having fun at the casino.
He holds the suit up.]
What about this?
no subject
That's absolutely perfect for you, why don't you try it on?
no subject
[If the pants are too large, he can always use suspenders to keep them up.
A few minutes later, when he comes out of the dressing room, though, it's obvious he won't need those suspenders at all. The clothes fit better than anything he's owned.
...the feeling is frankly weird.]
I don't think I've got this thing on my neck on right.
no subject
It's a little uneven, but we can fix that on the way to the casino.
no subject
Okay, let's go then.
no subject
You'll enjoy this, trust me.
no subject
I'm looking forward to it. How much farther is it? Wait- Is that it over there?
[Yeah, the word "casino" on the sign outside is kind of a big hint.]/small>
no subject
[He walks towards the front doors with an excited look on his face, as if he's ready to bankrupt the entire place with his playing.]
no subject
Wow, this place is amazing! Where do we even start?
no subject
We'll start over there, then move to the tables.
no subject
Okay, let's get something to drink, then show me how they work.
[Because some of the drinks people had in their hands had caught his eye. Was they guy over there drinking a rainbow?]
no subject
All right then, you pick what you want and I'll order it for both of us.
no subject
Can I get one of those?
no subject
Most certainly, I'll even get one for myself.
no subject
Lloyd's curious how it works and what the rules and point of them game are, but he'll wait until Angelo gets back before asking any questions.]
no subject
Having fun watching other people play?
no subject
Yeah. I've never played anything like this before.
[He takes an incautious swallow from his glass-
-and promptly bursts into a coughing fit, only barely managing not to cough the drink right onto the floor.]
Wh-whoa! This stuff is really strong!
no subject
The bartender told me it's Gin mixed with various types of juices. I've never ordered it before, I usually get red or white wine. But I'm quite surprised at how good it tastes.
no subject
[The term seems vaguely familiar, like something people have mentioned a few times, but that he's never paid attention to. Or maybe there's been something more important to focus on at the time, or maybe they hadn't been talking to him. Maybe it was just something someone told him a while ago, long enough that he's having a hard time putting a finger on the memory. Still he can guess from context that it's some other kind of drink. Not juice, but something that goes with juice.
He takes another, more careful sip. It's warm as it goes down his throat, leaving a tingle that's almost a burn - but not quite. It's a weird feeling, but...]
You're right. This tastes pretty good.
So. [Right, back on topic.] About this game...?
no subject
[But oh yeah, back to the subject at hand.]
Ah yes, the slot machines. It's quite simple, my friend. [He sits down in the chair in front of the machine then points to the lever on the side.] You see this lever? You pull it after you've inserted how many starfish tokens you wish to bet into the machine and once the display starts spinning, it's all about luck from there. [He then points to the various displays of objects above the spinner which show either fruit, coins, whatever, they also have a multiplier with "x 500" for example.] Those objects with the numbers next to them means you'll get how many tokens back times that number you bet.
[Moving along, he then points to the numbers on the sides that are lines up next to the display of the slot machines.] Depending on your luck, the machine will light up when the displayed objects match up with those numbers and it helps you win, but if there's none, you lose. [He then turns back to Lloyd.] Do you understand things a little better now?
no subject
Letting his attention focus on Angelo's explanation, he absentmindedly continues to drink occasionally from his glass.]
So I put the starfish tokens in, then I pull the lever. Then I just wait for it to tell me if I won? That sounds easy enough.
[He frowns. Maybe a little too easy.]
Is it really all that fun? It doesn't sound like you do all that much.
no subject
The slot machines aren't as fun as the poker tables, now those are fun. The excitement of sitting around a table with other gentlemen, betting your gold as the stakes get higher and higher, then waiting for the opportunity to take everything with your winning hand.
End~
[He moves away from the slot machine, taking another drink. The burn as it goes down is a little bit easier to deal with now that he knows what to expect. He might just get another one of these drinks when he finishes this one off.
For now, though... It's time for a night of fun!]
no subject
[And so he gestures for Lloyd to follow him as they have their night of fun together, it would become a night neither of them would ever forget.]
