[ It was probably a bad idea to let the detective stay at the same apartment with him an Aoko. Strike that. It was a really bad idea. Then again, so was leaving a seemingly seven year old boy to fend for himself. The brat just better not get to close to Aoko. ]

[ He lets out a small sigh and checks his feet for mud of any other undesirable thing he didn't want to risk the consequences of dragging inside. It's probably a good idea to warn the detective to do the same. ]

Oi. Make sure your shoes are clean. You want to make a good first impression, don't you?

[Conan was still debating whether this was a good idea. It would allow him to keep a closer eye on Kid. And saved him from being forcibly adopted by the first well-meaning stranger who caught on to his situation. But it also meant he was now stuck sharing a house with the most irritating person he had ever had the displeasure of knowing.]

[ Meanwhile he'll hunt in his pockets for the key before pushing the door open for Conan to step inside. ]

Aooookoooo~ I brought you-uh- a peace offering! [ Yes Conan, you're a peace offering. ]

[ At the call of her name, Aoko pokes her head out from upstairs, where she'd been doing some good ol' cleaning.]

Peace offering? [ Why does that not sound good...

Making her way downstairs as quickly as she can, she calls out: ] Bakaito, what did you do now?

[ Even if she's not sure she wants to know. ]

[A peace offering? Really? Conan levels an unamused look at Kaito as they wait for his friend to reach the door.]

[ Looking down at the look Conan is giving him. ] Heh.. don't be so sour. It's just code for 'I did something without asking' ....Although, I'm not sure she knows all our codes.

[ He'll ignore her lame 'BaKaito thing. Don't want to get in a fight when he first walked in the door. ]

Ah, well... I brought someone with me. Since his guardians are kinda... uh MIA I thought he could stay with us.

[ahouko]

[ When she gets to the door, Aoko blinks in surprise, slight irritation forgotten. ]

Oh! I know him. I met him when I first got here. [ She remembers that he'd been staying with people from home, but if they're gone... ]

If he wants to stay here, that's fine with me. We only have the two rooms, but he could probably sleep in your room...we should be able to get another cot or something.

[ Turning to Conan. ] Does that sound okay?

[Conan conceals a twitch at the thought of sharing a room with Kid underneath an expression of bright curiosity.<]

Sure, sure. There's a enough space in that room.

[ So it's a official. Kudo is now going be his roommate... maybe he didn't think this through very well. ]

..You like Shopping right, Ahouko? So why don't you run and get another cot and the kid an' I will rearrange things in my room to make room for it.

[ahouko]

[ Aoko would offer up her room, but she figured that the boys probably wanted to stick together - after all, it looks like they're friends already. ]

You're welcome!

[ ...Going to level Kaito with a quick glare, though. It was so like him to make her do all the work of getting things. But she'll get him back for it later.

Aoko quickly turns that glare into a fake smile. ] Okay, I can go pick up one at the store. Is there anything else you'll need?

[Conan matches her with an equally fake smile.]

[ Kaito winces at that glare. Aoko can be very threatening when you know her usual methods. ]

Y-yeah, you've got good judgement-at least when a wardrobe isn't involved.

[ ...Okay. Maybe he did want to start a fight. ]

[ . . .Well. She's trying to keep her anger reigned in, to avoid scaring the kid, but it's not her fault that Kaito keeps pushing it.

Growling his name in anger: ] Kaiiitooo.....

[ It's a warning. Abort now, and Aoko won't try to bash your head in with her mop until later. ]

[This settled it. Kid had no instinct for his own preservation. Kid had better owe him for this. He steps forward and looks up at Aoko with his best wide eyed childish expression.]

Ne, ne, did Kaito-niichan just say something mean?

[ What?! No. Damn it, detective. You ruin his fun at heists and now you're going to ruin his fun here? ]

It's not that exactly-Aoko's pretty good at decorating and things like that-but she has a fashion sense of a middle schooler.

[ahouko]

[ Once Conan speaks up, her attention's diverted pretty quickly, the simmering anger cooling off to just a slight irritation. Aoko leans down a bit to give the young boy a reassuring smile, one that's less forced than her earlier one. He looks so innocent....it really wouldn't be fair for her to scare him by hitting her idiot of a best friend, even if the older boy deserves it.

Even when Kaito speaks again, Aoko's able to keep herself relatively calm, if a tad sarcastic. ] And you don't think that's rude?

[ Turning back to Conan. ] You should just ignore everything Kaito-niichan says, okay? He's kind of an idiot like that.

Okay! [Conan smiles up at Aoko. Kaito, of course, can probably see more than a little smugness in his expression. This situation had possibilities.]

Oi! Who are you calling an idiot, Ahouko? [ Conan forgotten, he turns to Aoko. ]

You, of course. You're the only idiot here, Bakaito, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

[ Sticking her nose up at you and maybe sticking out her tongue, ssh. CONAN TOTALLY CHOSE HER SIDE, HAH. ]

Besides, my clothes are just fine!
