[He knew Otoha would be tired after all the activities of the day and tonight seemed like just as good a night as any to put his plan into action. He sent a message to Fai telling him where to meet him and gathered the things he'd been slowly collecting over the week. With Minea's help, vampire and cat-demon-maid made their way to the bar.

Setting all the stuff down, Johnny leaned against the wall outside to wait.]

[Fai had gotten Johnny's message and had made sure to rest up after his day at the Olympics. Now he is rested and ready to do a little decorating! Johnny had failed to mention in the original message that the place they were actually decorating was Otoha's. That just made him a little more enthusiastic about getting started.

When he stops the other vampire, Fai lifts his hand in greeting with a large smile.]

Good evening, Johnny-san~

[Johnny smiles when he sees Fai and waves as well.]

Good evening, Fai~~ Ready to fix up a silly man's room? Ah! this is Minea~ She's here to help.

[He gestured towards the girl standing with the stuff and she bowed to Fai.]

[Fai smiles at the maid as he walks up.] Hello Minea-chan. I believed we met briefly before you turned into a cat. It's nice to see you again.

[He turns back towards Johnny and lifts a finger up, wiggling it at him.] You didn't tell me we were fixing up Otoha-san's place. I can't wait to get started!

[He takes on a devilish grin and shrugs.]

I didn't know you knew him~~

Have you seen his room? It's only a mattress and a dresser; it needs help.

Hmm... [He reaches for the doorknob only to find it locked.]

Hnn...Otoha, you're always making things more difficult. I don't suppose you have a lockpick~?

I first met him at his bar. He's nice~

[Fai walks up and his eye changes into that catlike slit. He extends one of his nails out to a long sharp point.]

Maybe this will work?

Aaah~ Yes~

[He steps aside to let Fai try.]

Mmm~ Impressive~ Sadly, my nails only get sharper, not longer.

[Fai bends down and starts to work at the lock.]

It's a pretty handy skill. Took some getting used to. I can't say I've ever used them for this purpose though..

So Otoha-san's place is really that bad? We need to make sure it becomes nice and homey~

[The lock clicks and Johnny has his arms around Fai.]

Aaah~! There! Now...we'll have to be quiet, I don't know how heavy a sleeper he is...

Hmm...We should get the stuff into his room and then take him out of it~

[Fai smiles victoriously as he stands up straight again. His eye and nails return to normal. He lifts a finger to his lips with a sly look.]

I'll be very quiet~ Do you think we'll really be able to move him without him waking up?

Hmmm...I think so. We'll just have to be careful~~ Like mice~

[He opens the door and grabs as much of the pile of stuff as he can, as does Minea, and leads the way into the bar and down the hall to a door.]

If you'll get the door, Fai~

[Fai grabs anything left behind then hops ahead to get the door. He pulls it open and peeks inside before pulling it wide enough for the other two to get through.

Not sure if he needs to be quiet yet, he keeps his mouth shut unless Johnny says its okay to speak.]

[He motions to the far corner of the room and sets the stuff he's carrying down as quietly as possible. Then turns his attention to the man sprawled out on the old mattress on the floor, sleeping away, face-first in the pillow.

Johnny just shakes his head, his voice quiet and soft.]

Honestly...

[He crosses over and kneels down, gently rolling Otoha over before lifting him, effortlessly, into his arms.]

Ah...Fai, will you get the pillow? We'll put him on the bar for now.

[behind_my_smile]

[Fai gives a salute and collects the pillow. He scurries out into the bar and sets the pillow down so that it is ready when Johnny brings out Otoha. When he speaks he tries to keep his voice as quiet as he can..which is no easy fete for this vampire.]

Careful~ This is probably about as comfy as that little mattress must be.

[Johnny set Otoha down as carefully and gently as he could manage, watching to make sure he stayed asleep. Then he pressed a small kiss to Otoha's cheek, took Fai's hand, and led them back to the room.]

Minea, will you take this bed out of here and keep an eye on Otoha~? Fai and I will take care of the room.

[The cat-maid nodded, lifted the mattress like it was nothing and walked out.]

[Fai takes Johnny's hand in both of his and swings it a little, clearly excited at the task they are about to undergo.]

What is the plan for the room, Johnny-san~? Are we giving him a new bed and paint and curtains and furniture and everything?

[Fai didn't really expect there is enough time for all of that but he can't help but want to go a little over board.]

Hmmm.. [Johnny surveyed the room, his free hand going to his chin.]

Well...sadly, I don't think we'll have enough time to paint without getting sloppy, at least these floors are nice. We'll just give him a knew bed, furniture, and decorations~~

Sounds like a good plan! Maybe we can do more at another time if he likes the first part of the decorating.

Aaah~ Hopefully he will....though I doubt he'll say as much at first~~

Well, then, I guess we should start putting things together. We've only got a few hours~

Right! Operation Otoha, start!

[Fai releases Johnny's hand and starts going through the items that were brought so he can begin. He hums a little as he rummages and organizes.]

[Johnny smiles and joins in, helping with the organizing and then setting about with assembling the bed frame. With the two of them working, it shouldn't take too long at all. Although...]

Hmmm...should we call in for reinforcements?

[behind_my_smile]

[Fai tilts his head a little as he looks over.] Reinforcements? Do you think we'll need them?

[not_heavens_adam]

Hmm...don't know. We only have a few hours...we might be able to. Just in case, though...

[He bit into his finger, letting a couple blood drops hit the floor before licking it closed. The blood drops bubbled and from them two young girls in maid's outfits popped up, both with matching blank stares.]

This is Makiria and Yuria. They can help, though, they're not very talkative~

Will you two start unloading Otoha's draws into the new dresser~? Try to keep it somewhat similarly organized~

[Fai smiles as he watches them.] We appreciate your help~

That's very handy, Johnny-san. I can't do anything that useful with my abilities.

I don't know, that claw thing's pretty useful~

[Then something occurs to him and he looks over in confusion.]

Ah...Fai...why do you say those things after people's names? What do they mean? I've never heard them before...

Those things? Ah! You mean the honorifics? [Fai taps his finger against his chin.]

It's not something that is used in every world, I guess. It's a way to show respect..and it changes depending on how close you are to a person, or their social status..things like that.

I suppose everyone uses them for different reasons though..When I was traveling, I used them as a means to tease one of my companions.

Ah! Sounds like fun~~ Would this be the same black-haired companion we spoke of before~?

Though... Now that you mention it, I heard them being used once in my world...but they're not used in Europe or America, so I never learned them.

That would be him~ I gave him all kinds of fun names. Kuro-pii, and Kuro-papa, and Kuro-wan. He acted like he hated them but when I stopped using them he seemed really upset.

Let's see..-san would be added for someone that is an acquaintance. Chan and kun are added for someone younger. Sama shows respect to someone important. And usually when you are close to someone you can stop using them.

Well you don't have to use them with me if you don't want to~

Ah, well maybe I won't if you don't want me to. That might take some getting used to.

[Fai goes back to work and a little of that playfulness goes away as he becomes a little more honest. He felt if there is one person on this world he could tell the truth to, it is the other vampire who seems to understand him a bit more then anyone else.]

I started using them because I wanted to keep my distance. Particularly with Kurogane and the kids..I didn't want to become too close or too familiar and by teasing him like that, I felt like I was keeping myself and them from getting too attached.

[Johnny's smile turns soft with understanding as he also goes back to work, his tone even with matching honesty.]

...And yet they get attached anyway...and you do too. It never quiet works out the way you expect it to.

Do you regret it not working?

It really doesn't..but I guess in a way I should be thankful. If it weren't for that, then I would have been dead long before now. And even though that was what I wished for..I'm also thankful I've gotten a chance to live on.

Heh...live until you decide you don't want to die anymore...I'm glad you've reached that level now...it'll only get harder as time goes on.

Hey...Fai, how long has it been since you were turned?

Ah..let's see. [Fai pauses and looks up as he thinks about the time.] I'm not really sure..a few months I suppose. I haven't been like this for very long at all.

Ah- only a few months? Huh, I can't even imagine.

[He flashes a teasing smile.]

No wonder you don't know your limits yet~

I'm still a baby in that respect~ I haven't had anyone to really show me what I can and can't do.

For awhile after I was changed, I refused to drink at all. But my hand was forced when the world we went to demanded that we fight. I needed my strength.

Heh~ Well, I don't know everything about the type of vampire you are and the powers that you have, but I'd be willing to teach you what I know~

...and I've long since learned that, when you do that, people just get upset at you.

[Not that he listened much, but do as I say not as I do was in play here.]

Our types are probably too different, but thank you. I really need to find the purebreds that fed me and ask them my limitations. But I doubt I'd ever encounter them again. They are traveling worlds as well.

That is true..or at least it seems to be the case. They are just looking out for our own good. Clearly I need someone to do that or I wouldn't have survived this long.
