[ And thus with the opening of the festivities came the poor harassed native who had to run his way up through the elevator (he jogged in place) and all the way around the island to the beach where the majority of the events would occur--

The natives are cheapskates, okay.

Regardless, there is quite the crowd there watching you all compete. May the...best (?) team win? ]

WEDNESDAY - WATER PAINT BALL

[ in the small, pleasant forested area near the elevator, there have been left what look like, well, bazooka launchers. Your ammo? Water balloons with colored water in them. It’s hard to say what the natives put into them, but that color sticks. You can throw the balloons or you can shoot them at each other or really, anything goes.

The team with the last person standing, not soaked and not colorful, wins!

This is a full team event, and friendly fire is a thing, so be careful! Or don’t. That’s cool too.]

THURSDAY - FLY FISH SKIING

[ viewable from a distance, there are 8 platforms set out in the ocean, each with a large banner hanging above them with each team’s respective betta printed on them. tied to the platforms and ready for racing are four of these per team (each about the size of ice skates); they appear to be in a set of two, if the way the harnesses connect two together is anything to go by. contestants are expected to strap them on their feet, and use bridles for steering. they’re a little tricky to maneuver and can be a bit temperamental, so good luck!!

the racing course is set to a marker about a half of a mile out at sea; retrieving the flag and bringing it back first makes you the winner! ]

FRIDAY - SAND CASTLE BUILDING

[ build a sandcastle.

Kicking other team’s sandcastles over is probably against the rules but it’s not like anyone is watching so. Don’t build it too close to the waves, either; you don’t want them washing away your work of art. Your tools are buckets, shovels and whatever you can find on the beach.

Go wild.]

FRIDAY - SWIMMING RACE

[ contestants will swim a pre-set track, spanning across the course both above water and underwater. the track is marked by buoys above, and hoops below. the underwater section appears about halfway through the course. the participant to reach the end of the course first wins! hopefully you’re a good swimmer. ]

MEDICAL TENT

[ the head nurse arranged for this citing that she knows you're all a bunch of idiots. ]

As an added note, we know some of this stuff isn’t the easiest to play out--but this is also a great space for team shenanigans before and after the events as well. Feel free to use this log for things like that as well!

[For once, Zelda agrees with the head nurse. Finding half the work done for her was quite pleasant. She's set herself up with all the necessary supplies, but at the forefront? Nothing more than simple sunscreen and a lot of fresh water.]

[All these days out in the sun and on the beach, wearing nothing more than swimming shorts are sure having his toll on Gamzee. Not in the terms of his stamina --that is pretty excellent considering he is a giant junkie addicted to pie-- but in terms of wow, his skin sure feels weird. Sort of odd and pinchy and flushed indigo. Hella weird shit going down here.

Which is exactly why he pokes a curious head into the medical tent after the swimming race --once he has carefully reapplied his make-up, at least!-- glancing around for someone with a little more wisdom in these matters.

Hey, until he came here, he was nocturnal. Sunburns are unknown terrain for him.]

[Having seen Kanaya blush before, Zelda can guess that the indigo flush covering Gamzee is the equivalent of a human or Hylian being all red and pink. Really, it's like he's been baking himself!]

Gamzee, goodness... did you not put on any sunscreen at all?

[Gamzee is an expert at getting himself baked.]

[Sunscreen probably isn't even a thing to trolls. What would it do? Kill you slower in the sun?]

[Really, she knows that Darkleer is likely worried sick about Summoner - she is too. The only other time one of her charms vanished, the one holding it had left Vatheon and never showed back up. Still, that doesn't mean he should let one of his boys run around completely without direction!

Well. Trolls don't generally act as parents, so she won't judge him too harshly.]

The sun gives life, but it is also capable of causing light burns to the skin. You need to wear sunscreen to protect yourself. Your skin will need awhile to heal, now. It might grow tight and itch, but don't itch it or you'll expose the new skin before it's ready. Come here, I'll put some sunscreen on you so that it doesn't get worse.

[He obediently shuffles over, stooping down a little so she can actually reach his shoulders as opposed to having to get a step stool to reach. He can't help it, okay. He's got all the tall genes.]

Not even if it gets super itchy?

Especially not then. Have someone gently put some aloe on your back, it will help it heal. If the itching grows unbearable, take an oatmeal bath.

[She'll just levitate slightly like Duke taught her to get those hard to reach spots, anyway. Even though he's a highblood, after having cooked in the sun it's likely her hands feel pleasantly cool.]

Do you have burns on your face as well, or did your makeup protect you?

[Tatsumi stares at the two pairs of flying fish he's been given. He almost regrets having signed up for the race. But Tsuzuki is always telling him to lighten up, so might just as well. Plus, he can't let his team down, he takes this business just as seriously as anything else.

He looks at Feferi and sighs.]

Are you ready for this, Feferi-san?

[Tatsumi sighs as he lifts Chibiusa on his shoulders, so that she can give any last instructions to the team.]

Chibiusa-san, it seems we are all listening now...

[Oatmeal bath, huh? Yeah, he'll probably end up bathing in cornflakes cause that is like the same thing, right? Both breakfast foods. Totally the same.

At her question, he scratches his cheek a little.]

Nah, I'm thinkin' it up and kept a bro covered.

[His ears on the other hand have quite the burn as well.]

[Ears. Ears. She nearly doesn't touch them. What if they're as sensitive as hers are? Though she doesn't think she recalls any trolls mentioning it... Zelda puts some on his ears rather quickly.]

That is good. You wouldn't want to hyper-pigment, after all.

[She holds the tube out to him.]

Here you are then, go on and get your front. I brought plenty of tubes, so you can keep this one now. Reapply it every three hours, alright?

[Fai is armed and ready. He might be cheating a little by having his vampire abilities activated to take advantage of that extra boost of speed and agility. He takes his position and looks around with a small smirk.]

[ There's a peel of girlish laughter as she's swept up, but she settles pretty quickly. This was serious business! ]

Okay, team! We need to make the best castle ever, fit for a princess! With towers and bridges and- and everything! Let's win!

[He'd come before dawn to help with set up and now that the sun was dangerously out, the vampire had stationed himself, safely, in the back of the tent, away from the opening. He sat on a stool, ready to go to work at a moment's notice, but also relaxing in the meantime.]

Mmmm....maybe it'll be quiet and, miraculously, no one will hurt themselves~

That would be nice, wouldn't it? I won't count on it, though. With events like "shark wrestling"... honestly!

[The princess huffs as she renews the spell on the ice box keeping the water cool.]

[Well...it doesn't look too bad right?]

Ooooh, yes, that one....Katsu and Otoha are in that event...

[He hopes. He prays.]

[Sola hadn't decided to join any of the events, preferring to scrounge around the beach for interesting rocks and things, and of course to visit Johnny in the tent. He was surprised to hear that Johnny had agreed to help, what with the event being on the beach in broad daylight. Honestly he feels a little sorry for the vampire so not only has he collected a mess of interesting rocks, shells, and sea glass but he's procured a sunflower from somewhere. The blossom is bigger than his head and it peeks in the tent flap first with Sola's smiling face following.]

Hey Johnny! I brought you some-

[Oh Zelda's here too...]

[It's Sola. She's seen him since the incident, but he hasn't seen her. Zelda looks up from the icebox anxiously, worrying the fabric of her dress between her fingers. What does she say? What can she say? She's already told him that she'll always be there if he wants to be friends again, and he'd never attempted to contact her after that.

The princess quietly steps to the side to allow Sola to pass.]

Would you like some water for the flower?

[Her voice is soft, but not hostile at all.]
