A bit like a bad hangover, without the fun beforehand

Damn.

It happened again. Some one who didn't agree with the way he was dealing with the empire, some one who wanted to make a "statement" that thought the way it needed to be done was by kidnapping him.

At least this time his advisers had the forethought to give him bodyguards before he left Zaphias. Sadly they were probably dead. Emperor Ioder Heurassein considered himself lucky to have gotten out with little more than a nasty whack to the back of his head.

For a few minutes, he'd woken long enough to see a dark room with little in the way of furnishings, and feel that his hands were bound behind his back with a rough and scratchy rope and he was against a wall, sitting on the floor. There was something sticky on the back of his neck. Likely blood. He could hear hushed voices in the room, but they were muffled, and consciousness didn't last long enough to hear what they were talking about.

And that's when things got weird. He had the oddest sensation of floating in water, or rather floating through water. And when he woke up again he was sopping wet, clothes heavy, head still aching something awful, and rather than being against a wall he was face down with his arms still bound behind him.

It was highly uncomfortable, to say the least.

But as uncomfortable as it was, it was also confusing, because it was a lot brighter than it had been before, and the ground was much smoother and cooler, too. When he opened his eyes (much to the displeasure of his still pounding head) he was greeted to a very different sight indeed. Everything was so... clean. Almost shining. And he could have easily been mistaken but... was that water beyond the rise of the buildings?

"What--..." he tried to speak, but his voice came out a raspy cough. A green light flitted around his head, almost as if it was worried about him, but he really couldn't make heads or tails of what it was or why it was there.

After a pained groan and a bit of struggling, he was able to sit up with his arms trapped behind his back, staring blearily at the area before him.

That certainly didn't help his confusion any. Where on Terca Lumireis was this?

"... I've gotten myself in to a very odd situation, haven't I?"

Kohaku nodded to that, helping him to sit up. Once she made sure he was stable in sitting up, she moved to his bound hands and looked over the knot. She bit her lip. That was something she wasn't sure she could untie herself ...

"I may need to get something to help free you. How did you end up like this, anyway?"
spiria: (i have left my confusion)

oh, Ioder. you adorable thing, you.

Even Kohaku had to raise an eyebrow at how cheerful he was at all of this. Well, um. At least he had a good attitude about it all?

"I take it this is a regular occurrence for you?" She asked, still fiddling with the knot in the rope.

"I'm definitely going to need something to cut through this ..."

"And all I have is a flaming baton that probably won't do the trick here. That, and I really don't want to risk hurting you more." Kohaku sighed. She didn't want to leave him alone like this, but at the same time, she had to find something better to untie him with ...

... well, it wasn't like anyone was going to attack him in this place. At least, she hoped not. She sighed, then looked to him.

"I'm going to go to a nearby shop and see if I can find a knife or something that can cut through this, okay? I'll be back soon."

Kohaku couldn't help the sheepish laugh that came from her at that response.

"I understand. I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise."

And with that, she got up and went into a nearby store. Luckily, she was able to find a knife fairly quickly, and, after determining that it could cut through rope, she returned to him, kneeling down in back of him and beginning to saw through the rope.

"All right, hopefully this won't take too long ..."

... actually, it looked like it could take a while.
