Meet the parents

[Sola had been a ball of happy nervous energy all morning, figiting and moving things and actually having cleaned his room! This moment finds him hovering around the door, taking constant peeks on tip-toe through the little eye hole to see if he can spot his matesprit coming down the hall. His ears flick excitedly at every little noise and he just can't sit still!

When is Johnny going to get here?!]

[Johnny wasn't really one to get dressed up unless he felt there was a need and, while he didn't want to give the wrong impression, he wasn't looking to be overly impressive either. Besides, did what impressed humans impress trolls too?

So about the only fashion change he'd made was instead of his usual dress shirt being wide upon and unbuttoned, it's closed for a slightly more modest look.

The swarm of bats flew up the stairs, once he was inside, and reformed into the man outside Sola's door, and he knocked.

Standing outside the door, thinking about it now, the last time he'd 'met the parents' of anyone had been when he'd been courting young ladies back when he was human....]

[The door swings open wide before Johnny gets a knock in, leaving the Vampire knocking at open air and suddenly with the addition of a very happy, very nervous Hylian's arms wrapped around his waist.]

You came! And you were bats! That was really cool.

[Don't mind him, he can't stop grinning.]

[Johnny's arms wrap around Sola and he grins.]

Well, hello. Of course I came, did you think I wouldn't~?

No I knew you would I just didn't know when and I woke up really early so it seemed like forever! I even cleaned up my room and stuff so it wouldn't be a mess. Now c'mon I want you to meet Signless!

[Sola slips his arms back and ducks out of Johnny's hug, grabbing the vampire's arm and leading him inside... or rather, attempting to.]

Ah. Sola-

[Johnny winces as the magic that prevents him from entering hits his face and torso, like running into a wall.

To Sola it would feel like trying to pull a brick wall.]

Thing about vampires is, we need to be invited in, we can't just walk into homes.

Ah!

[He lets go immediately, turning to worry at Johnny, reaching up to pat his face where he'd smooshed it against the magical barrier.]

I didn't know! Are you okay? Did I hurt you? I, um, I invite you in!

[Sola glaces at the doorway as if he could see the magic vanish, though of course he can see absolutely nothing of the sort.]

Did it work? How come it's like that, anyway?

[The spell vanishes and Johnny steps through the doorway, his hand going to Sola's hair and he places a small kiss on his forehead.]

I'm fine.

It's to stop vampires from wandering into people's homes at night and slaughtering them. It's a protection measure for humans.

Well who decided that?

[Sola steps in beside Johnny, grinning a bit at the pat and kiss. Only weeks ago the gesture of patting his head would have set Sola off on a tirade about how he's not a baby, but there's a subtle change in how he thinks of the things Johnny does. The affectionate pats are comforting, the forehead kisses make him blush happily. He slips his hand back in Johnny's as he takes the lead and moves towards the living room.]

You definitely wouldn't slaughter anyone in their sleep!

I'd hope not!

[Signless rises off the couch and moves towards the two of them, smiling gently and extending one hand to be shaken in the human way. For someone who hasn't had a home of his own for very long, he's a perfect host.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Johnny.

[Johnny shook the offered hand with a smile and offered a small bow, as old habits called for.]

And you. I'm honored to finally meet the person Sola considers a father.

[Ah! Well that's embarrassing. Sola's only really ever expressed that once, quite awhile ago, to Signless and not brought it up since but.. really he does look at the troll as a mentor and father figure, insofar as he understands the concept of parents.]

See? I told you he'd like you!

[Sola beams at both of them, glad to have two of the most important people in his life get along.]

Should I get tea or something? Sorry Johnny I don't think we have any blood or anything but there's really good honey!

[Because that's totally the same thing.Totally.]

[Signless gracefully accepts the term of endearment, although he does shoot Sola a bright, happy grin before turning his attention back to Johnny.]

So come in, come in, have a seat! I want to hear all about you. And yes, Sola, tea would be lovely.

[Just let him usher your boyfriend to the couch so he can give him the third degree. Don't worry, he'll be gentle.]

Thanks, Sola.

[Johnny flashed a smile at Sola and followed Signless to the couch.

He was sort of expecting a 'talk' but that didn't make him feel any less awkward. Not once in his 500 years had he been given a 'talk,' it was a little daunting.]

I'll go get the tea set!

[Beaming, Sola hurries himself to he kitchen, completely unaware of any and all discomfort on Johnny's part. Everyone will get along just fine and they'll have tea and talk about fun things and it'll be perfect!

Right?

Well, it'll be perfect once Sola makes the perfect tea that is! He's gotten fairly good at it, though there are occasions where he swears the kitchen rises up against him and rebels.

Hopefully today isn't one of those days.]

[Oh, don't worry, Johnny, Signless is completely harmless!]

So tell me about yourself! Are you a Rainbow Drinker?

[Luckily, he had talked to Kanaya before and that term had been brought up, so Johnny didn't have to ask about that one.]

I am. Though, we're called vampires where I'm from. Ah...sorry, I don't really know what else you want to know.

So you drink blood?

[Signless is remarkably comfortable with this line of questioning.]

Yeah. About every 2 weeks or so, depending.

[You know, depending on how many other vampires he was feeding and how much of his power he used.]

So what else can you tell me about yourself? Surely there's more to you than just drinking blood!

Well, I certainly like to hope so.

[He pauses, thinking. He was never any good at this.]

I come from Earth, I've been in the bubble for nearly eleven months...um...I run a tavern in the Lower District, and like to bake among other things...

I'm sorry, I'm not used to trying to describe myself. [Honestly, anyway.]

You like to bake? Psii likes to bake too! Maybe later he can show you his kitchen and tell you about all the things he makes. What do you like baking best?

[That's cool, Signless will just keep asking questions.]
