Closed; So maybe he can apologize
Who: Duke and Zelos
When: When Zelda was in a coma, BACKDATED /o/ 23rd or so
Where: Zelda's House (because Duke is staying there)
Style: [stuff]
[ So maybe he could apologize - in a way, at least. So this is probably a rather large surprise that Duke purposefully sits down with a medium sized packet of papers somewhat near Zelos. ]
Would rather not have a repeat; thus developed alternative. Spoke with one who knew of the crystal, of the crest - [ Not mentioning who, although he will if Zelos asks, and mention that it was most definitely over SFC, part of still passively avoiding Zelos' important people. Just going to spread his papers out over that table Zelda used - they're covered in math! ]
Spent week as angel as well; enough to study it on myself. As understand, that would prevent change; and the damaging of the crest alters it. If key this to the crest, it would apply a temporary effect of the same. Fairly certain that the effect is identical; if you are skilled with mana and telling accuracy, or even telling if it feels as the angel state should, I can apply it temporarily to my self to make sure it works as it should. [ And prove it wasn't any sort if sneaky underhanded thing. ]

You really need to master grammar if you're going to wordspam at people, Duke.]
Uhh... wait, what?

Damaging the crest created a painful situation to those close to you. Can key it into the crest - this spell. It would replicate the effects of a correctly functioning crystal and crest. Activate when the crest is damaged. Hold the effects on its own long enough for the crest to repaired, or long enough for the a call to help to be sounded. On its own, it can hold for eight hours, and starts falling apart after. If help is required, can fuel it with my own mana - for how long, have not tested.

[Zelos takes a moment to consider the information Duke's just given him, setting aside his book on woodcarving for the moment (hey, he has to do something while he's not sleeping at night).]
I'm pretty sure there's something special about your sword and otherwise it couldn't have even scratched it.
[He taps the red gem on his chest. Even so, there are plenty in Vatheon with special weapons, advanced technology, and powers he'd never dreamed of. Maybe something as simple as that wouldn't be such a bad idea. Besides, if it was a spell, Ky would never have to know that he'd ended up agreeing with him, the nosy little meddler.
Still, it's who is presenting the option to him that gives Zelos pause.]
Have you talked to Zelda about this? No offense but I'm not exactly keen on letting someone who was responsible for my death do magic on me voluntarily.
[Okay, well, maybe some offense.]

It does not always look as it does. In Lowell's hands, it is near black, and a less sharp. [ Yeah. Magic sword. He won't explain much more, because he's rolling those next words over. ]
Understandable; have not. An idea while here, her asleep. Currently, feel as human, if perhaps odd due to not of your world, correct? [ He should. He hasn't done anything else. But Duke isn't waiting for an answer.
Which is why he pulls up his interface - the odd somewhat SFC like window and keys, scrolling and gathering the formula to pull the characters out so they float about him.
He holds it so that Zelos can study the lines if he wish - matching mathematical lines on his paper.
Then sticks it to himself. ]
... and now? [ He should have the rough feel of an angel on the physical side, without any enhancements to strength, sight, hearing. Just that odd 'stasis' thing, the pause of metabolism. ]

Well, sort of.
Zelos leans in slightly to squint distrustfully at the paper. It... does seem to be working but he's hardly an expert on mana and Cruxis Crystals in general.]
Maybe I should show this to Raine. She'll know for sure if it works.

... could also attempt to highlight a line at a time and explain the functions. May take longer. [ Because he would have to stop and think on sentence structure and how to properly explain it to someone else.
Right. Better sentences. ]
Another possibility that I would need access to personal space to attempt fulfill. Was mentioned that not all runes are known exactly, when inquiring upon time needed to repair a crest. A surface feel, taken by a layer of mana, could give the detail needed for more accurate repair, if runes are unknown or too badly damaged, or memory is not considered good enough. Would be done with no actual contact.

[Despite his misgivings though, Zelos takes the piece of paper and looks it over again a little more closely. He's no slouch when it comes to magic or mathematics, but this is way over his head. Honestly it might even be over Raine's head it's so advanced.]
How much personal space are we talking here?
[Looks like his need to not have to stab himself to death again is overpowering his discomfort at this rate.]

Crest? Palm over it. If you wish, I can remove my gloves. [ Because... he does wear them. He's not comfortable enough to not in this house yet. ]
no subject
Zelos takes a long ponder before sighing and throwing up one hand as if he doesn't care.]
Fine, fine, do what you've got to do to make it work. You know Zelda would flay you alive if you did anything to me again anyway.
[Actually he's not really certain about that but Duke doesn't have to know.]

Duke will be nice and take a glove off, holding his hand partially curled over the crest. While his hand is a good inch or two away from Zelos, there is a shift of his mana and a feeling like his hand was there - if his hand was completely even, over crest and all.
Give him... a minute, and then his hand moves back. He holds it palm up near enough eye level, focusing and.. that would be a faintly green representation of your Key Crest and Crystal, Zelos. Studying that. ]
Doing this, aware that spell is set to my frame. Need to recalibrate. Would not do to apply the spell to extra height not there, miss some depth I lack. Would feel much the same as that had. [ A bit of focus has his little image of Zelos's crystal twisting into lines of math, then into his interface. ]
no subject
Seriously, I think you're just lazy about talking or something. You mean you need to measure me or whatever? Fine, go for it. I don't want to get screwed over because you forgot a few inches.
[Zelos stands so Duke can get a more accurate measurement, thinking the mage will use some sort of tape measure or just eyeball it for his spell.]
no subject
Zelos, he did say that it would feel as his study of the crystal had -
So he might eyeball it a little, but it's mostly his mana kinda.. molding, about Zelos.
All about Zelos. Oops. Duke doesn't seem to think anything of it. ]
1/2
2/2
[His voice comes out a little higher pitched than intended and he waves his arms as if to bat away the mana that's congealed around him.]
Forget it! We're not doing this! I'm done! Get out!
no subject
But he's also really confused. Why is Zelos shouting?
This is Duke's version of that "what did I do?" face that animals occasionally give when people are loud at them.
But he's heading into the laundry room? All confused. ]
no subject
The albino being in the laundry room isn't far enough and without any ceremony Zelos snags his duster and throws it over his shoulders on his way out the door. He'll find a cute and willing hunny, purify himself, and forget this ever happened.]
no subject
He eventually comes to the conclusion that its awkward, somehow, like the way Zelda found it awkward, only that didn't make sense to him at all. One, it was awkward because Zelda was female and Duke was a male, right?
Duke eventually decides that maybe he hadn't been clear enough, but Zelos was definitely an ass too. But because of mutual friends, he picks his little bit of magic up and the paper version, and color codes the explanation of various lines in.. full sentences, even if the handwriting is a little rough.
Then he's going to sulk on the roof. ]
