Who: Perrin and YOU!
When: Daytime
Where: In/Near The Plaza
Status: Open!
Style: I'll match
When he wasn't at work on the Winespring, Perrin was trying to spend most of his time near the plaza. It was that time again when new arrivals were showing up, and with three ta'veren here it was increasingly likely that someone might follow them through. It seemed irresponsible not to keep an eye out for dangers from their world that none here would know of.
Knowing his appearance could be a little intimidating, he left greeting the disoriented newcomers to others, but he kept his senses tuned to whoever did show up. Not that his hammer could do much against certain foes, like one of the Forsaken, but he could at least give warning. Light send none of them show their faces here, though.
In the meantime, the preparations the natives were making provided something with which to occupy himself. Although he didn't understand what it was about, it was clear they were planning some kind of festival, and there was no harm doing a little manual labor on that behalf.

He was in the middle of hovering across the plaza with one end of a decoration, which he would pin up to hang over the stairways, when he almost ran into the large man with a somewhat intimidating appearance. Coming to a sudden stop in the air with a sharp "whoa," he quickly regained his bearings.
"Uh . . . sorry, didn't mean to cut in front of you," he said, stumbling to find the words to say. Compared to his tiny physique, the man was a giant. Not even Susano was that tall.

He halted, blinking in surprise--mostly at the fact that the boy was hovering. Flight was something neither the Aes Sedai nor the Asha'man seemed to have discovered yet.
"It's fine," he said. His voice was gruff, but there was no irritation in it.

"Are you helping the locals too? They're really going out of their way to make this . . . Fisholympics a grand success."

"It's no festival I've heard of"--like many things in this city--"but the work is good."

Of course, he hadn't indulged in the labor for payment, but the locals were adamant about giving him those StarFish Tokens. Never mind that he had no idea what to spend them on.

"I suppose I'll find some use for them," he said. Similarly, he hadn't agreed to this for the tokens, and he hadn't thought much on what to do with them.

And they were awfully liberal about throwing it the foreigners' way.

Giving the bigger man a curious look, Link reaches for one end of a large piece of wood, meant for a stall. "I think this has to go over there," he says with a quick smile and a nod towards his left.

Perrin catches the boy's look, nods wordlessly, and with a small smile of his own moves to take the other end and help out.

He can't think of much water-related competition besides fishing and boating.

"You're right. It's at least worth a try."

"Hoping it's been long enough since your success to have another?" he jokes.
no subject
"I guess it has been a while, huh?" he chuckles. About six months, to be precise...

"You may not want to pin your hopes of winning on a fishing contest."
no subject
One of the very few things he knows how to cook.
no subject
"If it's ocean fishing, I don't think I'd make much account of myself either." It has to be quite a bit different from catching river trout with your hands. "But I'll wish you luck."
no subject
No sense worrying about it, though, so he brushes his hands off and gets Perrin a quick smile. "Good luck to you too, if you do it!"
no subject
Dusting off his own hands, he holds one out to the boy in introduction. "It's Perrin, by the way."

Yup. Looks like you have a new friend, Perrin.
