All alone, in a new place that was looking less and less like a dark game by the hour. On his birthday? It had taken him long enough to make freinds the first time he was all alone, and now? On his birthday!? The cupcake in front of Yuugi was pretty extravigant, at least.

Lighting the candle on the top of it and slumping, Yuugi started humming 'Happy Birthday' to himself, slowly getting more and more crestfallen as he sang.

Here's to your 18th, Yuugi Mutou, he thought to himself, and may you have another year full of fun.

All alone in a new place and not the only one. Atem'd been wandering a little back and forth between a few places and wound up, well, here. Hands on his hips and weight shifted some to one side, the pharaoh pursed his lips. He thought about using the comm, but just didn't quite want to. It was probably for the best that he didn't, too, because he heard someone he wouldn't have otherwise.

Wandering in that direction, he could better hear the voice. He desperately hoped he wasn't hearing things. A familiar face would be nice, but this?

"Yuugi!?"

Yuugi's head snapped up, and he looked around for what he was sure he heard, but then, he was all alone with a sadness cupcake, so he somehow doubted he was hearing things right.

"Huh, thought I heard other me..." He grumbled, using his finger to scoop some of the pink icing off of his birthday angst cupcake. (Why had he bought a pink cupcake anyway?! Jou wouldn't have ever let him hear the end of that...)

No. No, he'd heard exactly what he thought he did, and Atem picked up the pace until he all but tumbled into view. A complete lack of grace and finesse, sure, but it was--

"Yuugi!" And then Yuugi had no personal space to speak of because hello suddenly pharaoh hugging him forever.

Yuugi's girlish shriek could be heard for mile, as he assumed (rightfully?) that he was being attacked. After the initial freakout (which knocked over his cupcake), he scrambled his way into actually seeing his assailant.

"O-other me?!"

Oh. Probably should have considered that, shouldn't he? Uh. Oops. But for as thrown off as he was, Atem was still somewhere between disbelieving and way too damn happy for his own good.

"Hey." Can--can he have another hug now because he would very much like one too bad you're getting one, Yuugi. Atem could calm down later.

"Wh- I- huh? I-" Being hugged by the dead guy living in your head (until recently) is certainly not what Yuugi expected. He still wasn't sure he quite believed what was happening to him, either. He didn't even realize when he blurted,

"What are you doing here?!"

Atem winced at how loud that was, but barely cared about it.

"Same thing you are: got pulled in and stuck." He leaned back a bit after that, just to give Yuugi space enough to sort himself out. "When did you get here?"

"A few days ago... " Look, he still wasn't over this, ok? This was a pretty interesting twist- also the best birthday gift ever.

"Really?" Atem stared for a minute; he hadn't... noticed Yuugi get here, then? He shook it off. "About when I got here, too." Another pause. "Is it the fourth?" Because that would explain a lot. Problem was, he hadn't really been paying attention to the calendars around here and he'd previously not really had one... Easy to lose track.

"I- er, yeah it is." Honestly, it was surprising that Atem would even notice that sort of thing. It shouldn't be, but it was. "It's pretty cool you could visit me on, actually."

Oh! Awesome. Atem snatched Yuugi up in a hug, cheek pressed to his partner's. The cupcake and the humming suggested it, but he hadn't... really been all that sure. Again, lack of calendars.

"Happy birthday, then, partner. And I don't... think it's just visiting." The Egyptian pulled back to look at his counterpart. "I think I'm here to stay for a while." That's what he'd been informed of, anyway...

Yuugi made no attempt to pull away.
"I'm glad [i]someone[/i] is here to celebrate with me..." His eyes narrowed. "You know, this place doesn't suit you one bit. I bet you look like an angry housecat when you're soaked..."

Well good, because he didn't want Yuugi pulling away. As Yuugi narrowed his eyes, though, Atem leaned back slightly. Wat. And then it was clear; Atem frowned a bit (pouted, really), setting his chin on Yuugi's shoulder.

"I felt like one, anyway." But then someone had been there to help him out, so it was alright! "You probably just look like the least happy baby panda."

"I haven't quite figured out why people keep thinking I look like a panda. You're the one who wears eyeliner! Anyway..." he righted his cupcake. "You want some? Or do you want to go actually do something?"
