[Fox was still unsure as to how exactly he got roped into this. Gilbert wasn't even being that insistent about it. Excitable, maybe. Perhaps he just had a longing for these kinds of things. His life had been pretty quiet in this city, and when it came down to it that was unusual. Nice, sometimes, but if he was being honest with himself, there was a lot that he was missing.

Since the hadn't exactly specified a meeting point, he just waited for the human to show up by the coral.]

Well, the building will do, me thinks. Going up the tower'll be useless if the electricity is out.

[lightning_tied]

Heh. And here I thought you were just going to try and blow it up.

[kivaember]

What? Please! I have some finesse! That and I didn't have enough time to cobble together homemade explosives [Gilbert pouts a little at that] Maybe next time.

[lightning_tied]

Uh huh. Anyway, let's find that electrical room. And stay alert. This place is giving me the creeps.

Same here. I half expect a monster to jump out [Gilbert laughs, the noise a bit high strung, and he all but skips into the dark transmitter station. It was very exciting, even if it was just poking about an old building in the dark]

[Then again, it was hard to get too hung up on the atmosphere with things like that happening.]

I wonder how old this stuff is. I don't get the sense that the city has been abandoned for too long...

[kivaember]

It looks pretty modern, and there's not a lot of dust. [Gilbert moves over to where a row of computer screens and machinery lay. He tried pressing buttons, flicking plug switches, but...nothing] damn. No power.

Can't say I'm surprised. Why is all of this here, though? Usually when this place...does stuff, it has some kind of purpose. A messed up purpose, but.

[kivaember]

Maybe it wants us to confront our issues? Everyone's having nightmares, so. [Gilbert shrugs and tries to shift through all the paperwork strewn on the tables. Maybe some information will be there]

[lightning_tied]

Not everyone is having nightmares, though. And even then, I don't see what a city would have to do with it. Huh. Is there actually anything written on those?

[kivaember]

Uh, blah blah blah - nothing pertaining to dreams [crumples them up and tosses them over his shoulder]. I know this place and the dreams are connected, but how...

[lightning_tied]

No people, no electricity, no...anything else. I don't know, it almost seems like this place has no reason to be here.

[kivaember]

Yeah. Buh, this is hurting my head. Okay! So [frowns] we've got an abandoned city. Our SFCs have turned into blackberry ripoffs that broadcast our dreams. Everyone's been having vivid dreams - mostly nightmares, but not everyone. So, what's the connection?

[lightning_tied]

Well, look at it this way. We assumed that this place was causing the dreams. But if we look at just those, the only other possibility is that the dreams brought this here, somehow. Then option three is that whatever caused the dreams also caused this. Those are the only ways it breaks down, I think.

[Not that this really told them anything either way, but it was good to know what they were working with.]

[kivaember]

Yeah... [Gilbert nods thoughtfully] I don't see how the dreams brought this place around, though. I mean, if everyone dreamed of an abandoned city, or something, then this is probably some giant dream scape thing, but since that's not the case then...

I guess, it's the third theory. Whatever's causing the dreams brought this place here as well. Which means we're back to square one.

Looks that way...

[Fox leans against the wall. He hadn't expected a lot to come out of this back during the middle of the night, but he definitely didn't think the situation would make even less sense by this point.]

[kivaember]

Well this is lame...I had hoped to get some answers, not more questions.

[lightning_tied]

What do you think? Should we regroup for now?

[kivaember]

I guess. Not much else to do here, and we're not exactly equipped to camp out in an abandoned city for a few days - besides, who knows how long this place'll stay here. I'd rather not be whisked away with it when it goes back to wherever it came from if the island returns to normal.

[lightning_tied]

I'll second that. We should probably take the time to scan the network, too. Maybe there's more information by now.

[kivaember]

Yeah. [Gilbert smiles suddenly] Disappointing sleuthing or not, this was pretty fun. Hopefully the next time we go out investigating, we'll turn up more clues [looks at Fox hopefully]

[lightning_tied]

Heh. You'd hope. Otherwise this might get discouraging.

[kivaember]

[snorts] Like I would allow myself to be discouraged! I'll figure out the secrets of this place, you'll see.

[lightning_tied]

[You had to admire that enthusiasm.]

Let's hope. But until then, my bed is calling my name. Let's head back.

Yeah. I'm sorta tired too. We should meet up again, though, er, probably outside of investigating though, if you want to.
