[Cielo had heard about the escaped animals, but he had decided he wasn't going to go looking for them as long as they weren't hurting anybody. And judging from the reactions he's seen, they seemed to be minor annoyances at worst.

He's cutting through the park on his way back to the Embryon base when he spots it. The tall four-legged creature grazing on the grass. At first, he was going to simply just walk by it when he notices its ears.

That...yes! That animal has the same ears he had during the animal curse! A llama! He had only just recently learned what llamas were and this was his first time seeing one. Of course, he can't resist the chance to see it up close. He pets its neck and tries talking to it. As normal llamas cannot speak, it does not reply.

Not verbally, anyway.

The llama lifts its head, takes one look at Cielo, and takes one of his braids of blue hair into its mouth and starts chewing on it.]

[By now, ten seconds have elapsed on the ingame timer and absolutely no blows have been exchanged. So Cielo moves his character closer to Yukari's and pushes the kick button.

Huzzah, he's playing!]

[Would you look at that? So is Yukari -- because the close proximity Cielo provided between their two characters just gave her the incentive and range she needed.

Finally, she's landing a few kicks and punches of her own, though her character is pretty slow . . . ]

[Even though he's playing a speedy character, Cielo doesn't really know what he's doing and he takes a couple blows and his fingers go to one of the buttons on the top of the controller.

...oh, it's the block button!]

[Wow, how did he do that?!?

. . . Not that it'll matter at all beyond this fight, however long it lasts -- this is totally a one-time thing -- but still. Now what is she supposed to do?

She's not taking any damage, at least, but now she's not dealing it either. So she continues button mashing, trying to find that combo she had before -- letting out so many stray kicks and things in the meantime.

. . .

Finally, there it is! It doesn't look like he'll be able to dodge it this time. It kinda takes over the entire screen . . .]

Whoa!

[Oh, he's helpless to do anything but watch as his character is trapped against the side of the arena and pummeled mercilessly. Combining that with the damage he took earlier, and it's a knockout! The llama ears on his head perk up in surprise.]

[. . . It's kind of really cute how his ears do that. And she hadn't ever really thought of llamas as cute until now, either.

She just looks a bit sheepish as the game declares her the winner of the first round]

G- Guess I got lucky there.

Lucky or not, you still won.

[Games, contests, battles...it's not about who deserves to win or should have won. It's about who was able to.

Round two is starting!]

Somehow.

[Heh.

She'd scratch at her head or something to show her confusion, if round two wasn't starting. But since it is, she just keeps her attention on the screen, even though she keeps talking.]

What do you think? Looks like we're both getting the hang of it, but there's always something else, if you're not having any fun.

[He just wants to give it one more try! He moves his character forward and has her jump and kick.]

[Oh, okay!! Well, she's glad he isn't bored to tears or anything like that. When she invited him over, she wasn't really sure how this would go but --

Oh wait, she's being attacked.

Herp derp, okay retaliating, since she didn't bother to block. There's no sign of that huge special attack again, but the little damage their doing to each other is starting to add up.

Despite the difference in the size of their characters, they appear to be sort of evenly matched in health; and this round lasts quite a bit longer than the first.]

[He understands now! Blocking, dodging, then hitting when the time is right. It's a lot like how he fights. But at the last second, he loses once again and Yukari is declared the winner of the match.]

That was fun.

. . . Yeah, I guess it was!

[Yukari laughs a bit, having enjoyed herself more than she expected. It is probably helped by the fact that she won.]

I'm not usually into this kinda stuff, but I might have just changed my mind.
