Shizuo had been feeling pretty good as he had walked throughout Vatheon earlier that morning. Training with Serph was going very well and his meeting with Vegeta had left Shizuo feeling extra motivated about his control - making it happen, rather than being, as Vegeta had bluntly put it, lazy. It was working. He felt optimistic, and since it had been a couple of weeks since Shizuo lost his temper, he felt as though he was actually making decent progress.
But progress wasn't as linear of a path as Shizuo wanted to it be. Sometimes there was regression - a couple of steps backward, a reminder of the way things were before he left Ikebukuro. This was one of those unfortunate situations. In retrospect, Shizuo would wonder how he managed to get so worked up when he had sparred with Serph the day before and therefore should not have had so much restless energy ready to be released - but in the moment, it didn't even occur to him.
Shizuo was pissed. Mindlessly enraged in a way that hailed back to his earlier days of fighting with Izaya. He tore a lamppost out of the ground and was fully prepared to swing it like a bat at the local who had managed to tip him so far over into the deep end.
Vegeta had said that sometimes releasing all that strength and energy just felt good, but Shizuo's mind wasn't even on that. It wasn't on anything. His body was seemingly acting on its own volition. Everything else was drowned out.
