♥ ☽ fantastic emotional suffering
Who: Yukari and Minato
Where: Starting at the Volo Dorms, but let's have them go on a walk or something.it's for extra drama okay
When: Evening/Nightalso for extra drama
Style: [the usual] unless you feel like something different \o/
Status: Closed.
[It was a quiet night in the Volo Dorms. It had been lately...first with Ken's absence, and now Ryoji and Maya as well. It's a bit sad, really, that it's come to this; but then maybe a bit of a reminder that this is all so fleeting is a good thing.
Yukari is scrolling past where his name should have been on the SFC Network; because after Valentine's Day, his absence stuck out the most. And though she knows he could always return—three days from now, a month from now, a year from now—she doesn't know why she should bother holding onto the hope.
It would be like him to leave, after something so important.]
Idiot.
[—and then she hears something. A sound, something that tells her she might not be alone, so she turns around.
Suddenly, a certain protag is coming down the stairs...clearly, her luck is good tonight.]
...Ah, hey. I-I didn't see you.

...Ah, hey. I-I didn't see you.

no subject
But he just tilts his head quietly, tone gentle.]
It's okay. You can be honest with me--right?
[Nothing has changed.
He'll always be there for her while he can, even if he can't promise that he'll be there forever.]
no subject
Those accusations had been Ryoji’s, and when they’d tentatively agreed to have that talk with him, she never signed up for any of that; even if a part of her agreed. It did hurt, not knowing, and it did hurt, essentially being…rejected. She isn’t used to that—
But it’s not his fault. He’d been thinking of them and how they would feel, losing him again, and they only thought of themselves.
And Ryoji called him selfish…]
I always have been. [Yukari sighs, scratching her head.] I’m just…restless.
[Back to fidgeting with her SFC. She’s picked it up again…]
no subject
He's incapable of it, really. He's incapable of blaming her for anything.
He's incapable of holding a grudge. And incapable of being selfish.
Perhaps he's just. Incapable.
And a quiet nod.]
I'm glad to hear it.
[Restless...
hm.]
Hey, Yukari-chan. Are you up for a walk?
no subject
If he was incapable, he would’ve never been able to lead SEES. He would’ve never been able to pull off what he did, and he would’ve never been able to earn her trust…
Never.
But she looks up from the SFC at that, and then tilts her head.]
A walk… [They’d been on a walk that night too, when they found him.] Y-Yeah. I think I’d like that, if you would.
no subject
Well, a positive start at least. Minato nods to her then, standing and inspecting the "weather" outside which, to be fair, is the same as always.]
Alright. Let's go then. It could be nice to get some "fresh air".
no subject
[She nods, then, finally tucking the SFC into her pocket, since staring certainly isn't going to help. She stands up and peeks out of the window when he does, but then she walks over to the door, deciding to take the initiative.
A hand on the knob, she turns back to look at her companion for the evening. Trying to smile.]
We could certainly use it. Right?
no subject
I think so.
Anywhere in particular you want to go?
no subject
...
Not really. Let's just get out of here.
[Maybe the beach...]
no subject
How about the island? I haven't been above in awhile.
I'd like to see the moon again, I think.
no subject
[The moon.
For a while, she was sure she'd never want to see it again. Who'd have ever thought she'd miss it.]
Always makes me think of that stupid yellow scarf of his…
[Hahaha. She chuckles a bit playfully…she doesn't actually think it's stupid, of course.
But then, she doesn't seem to be thinking clearly at all.]
no subject
right ha, of course. He should've thought of that--that this would have affected her too, and what else could be inferred from the moon but that?
But he merely nods once more, leading the way, pondering what to say.
And after a pause--]
I'm sure he's thinking of you, Yukari-chan.
no subject
And a smile lingers.]
Heh. Maybe. But I think you're a little more likely. [considering that speech he gave]
no subject
He doesn't hold with regrets, but he will say quietly--]
I wish Ryoji-kun would have realized.
He can live to the fullest on his own.
['He doesn't need me']
no subject
She considers his words. And really, knowing what she does about Ryoji, she doesn't know if it's true or not.]
I guess...he didn't want to.
['Without you.']
no subject
It's like an epiphany. He blinks, stepping into the elevator.
...An elevator.
Heh.]
Eventually, we all have to get off on our own stops, no matter how much we might want to stay on the elevator with the people we care about.
no subject
The doors open and the darkness greets them, with only the light of the moon and stars shining down to light their path. She even hesitates at first, blinking as she breathes in the fresh air; though she eventually takes one meager step forward to try to push herself out.
It...doesn't necessarily work very well.]
...But that's not fair. [Her voice is shaky...she knows choices are important, so why can't she make this one?
To stay with him? With the person she cares about...
She's can't do anything about his fate.]
no subject
He steps out into the fresh air and looks back at her, smiling somewhat.
And--]
You're right. It's not fair at all.
[He breathes in, looking up at the moon, and smiles a bittersweet smile.]
Not everyone gets a second chance like this.
no subject
[She is silent when she sees him smile, stepping out of the elevator behind him at last. The ocean air is refreshing, yet maybe she's been here for so long she's beginning to take this all for granted.
She doesn't want that.]
I'm sorry.
no subject
You have nothing to be sorry for.
Should we go down to the beach?
no subject
[Already leading the way, actually. The water will feel nice against her feet. Thinking about it, she tries to smile, but isn't quite as successful as him.]
But, I...I just meant I shouldn't have tried to change things between us. I should've just...
[She should've been satisfied just for the chance to see him again. But then again...Ryoji had his role in it too.]
We...shouldn't have put you in that position.
no subject
He continues to walk, though there is a temporary lull in their speaking as he thinks that one through.
When he hits sand, he stops, staring down at the footprints he has already made. And then he lifts his chin and speaks.]
You don't have to apologize for that. They're...they're your feelings. Of course they're important.
[They've always been important to him. He has always thought so, and has always placed their feelings first. Just...a quiet sigh.]
...not wasting your second chance at all, huh?
no subject
Her feelings are important to him...
They always had been, and that should be enough for her. She does kind of chuckle though, at the question.]
That's what I thought. "Seizing the moment," you know? [little finger gestures and all] Especially since Ryoji was, too...
But I think...this is good enough for me.
What we have now.
[Right?]
no subject
...ha. He smiles slightly, nodding.]
Well, I can't fault you for that.
...But I'm glad you think so.
[He looks up and out at the horizon, so far away, before back at her.]
Because I think so too.
[1/2]
She feels relieved. She'd been worried; afraid, even, after that. That this might be something their relationship couldn't recover from.
But she should've had more faith.
She does now.]
...Good.
[2/2]
Then-- [She glances behind her at the moonlit path along the beach, both beautiful and inviting.] --hey, do ya wanna race me?
[She looks back at him, something of a teasing look on her face.
But she's...serious.]
It could be fun. If y'don't mind losing. [smirk.]
no subject
And back at her.
And down the path--
And he takes off running.
... c: he's not gonna lose, yuka-tan.]
no subject
H-Hey! I didn't even say go!
[HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING like she's never before, tbh, as she shouts into the night. Because she has a new-found energy now that she didn't have before, when her feelings and his were still up in the air, hanging over them like a threat.
It doesn't even matter whether she does win or lose--because she'll catch up to him.
And once she does...she isn't gonna let him go.]
