09: oh no feelings
Who: Nanaki and Davesprite
When: Monday the 29th
Where: out and about
Style: Action
Status: Closed
[Nanaki had been slow to realize it. Though the feelings had been around since her birthday, and possibly even before, she had overlooked them until much more recently. The beach incident in particular had been very helpful for kicking Nanaki mentally and making her realize that hey, she liked someone!
The problem was that she had no idea what to do about it.
For about a week, Nanaki avoided Davesprite. She just couldn't bring herself to face him, not with what she knew about herself and her feelings now. She didn't want to become a stuttering mess around him just because she liked him. She had seen far too many romantic comedies to know that it never turned out well.
But after a week, Nanaki started to miss Davesprite. Even looking beyond the fact that she liked him, she missed just hanging out with him and doing fun stuff. He was one of the few friends she was close to, who she trusted with all of her secrets, and not talking to him was painful.
Eventually she finally broke down and called him on the SFC. Talking about this over the phone was probably a bad idea, and Nanaki intended on asking him to meet her somewhere, but it would depend on if Davesprite was busy or not.]

Still, he's taken the time away to actually reflect on his feelings and...well, he likes Nanaki. Quite a lot. At first, when Davesprite noticed them, he thought it was a simple crush, but now? He's pretty sure it's not a passing crush, not when he's agonizing over it months later.
The problem is that he doesn't know her feelings on the matter, and...he's a little afraid to rock the boat.
Davesprite is snapped out of his thoughts when he hears his SFC go off. He glances at the caller ID and immediately picks up.]
Yo, Nanaki. What's up? [He...wants to add an "I miss you," but he's not sure he should. Ugh, why does this have to be so harrrrrd?]
no subject
[She lets that hang there for a moment as she tries to think of what to say. She wants to invite him out to talk, but she wants it to sound natural, like she's not worried about it or anything.
Of course, by pausing and overthinking it she just sounds like she's stalling and hiding something.]
I was wondering...if you're not busy, could we meet up somewhere? Like the park or something.
no subject
Wouldn't mind meeting you at the park. Anywhere specific in the park? Or I could just fly around and see if I can find you.
no subject
Just by the entrance is fine, we can walk from there and find a place to sit.
Or you fly, and I walk, I guess.
no subject
Float, really, but same diff in the end. When do you wanna meet up?
no subject
[She's a little eager to get this off her chest.]
no subject
[Davesprite tries to make a casual flight over to the entrance, but he's really kind of speeding toward it. Kind of.
Being a teenage bird sprite with a crush is hard and nobody understands.]

Nanaki is waiting by the entrance, and she is nervously tucking her hair back behind her ear. She took her time to dress up nice today, even wearing the cute pink dress Davesprite had gotten her for her birthday.
When Davesprite shows up, Nanaki smiles and gives him a little wave.]
no subject
Long time, no see, Nanaki. You look great.
[Better than he imagined her in the dress, if he's being honest.]
no subject
Ah...thanks.
[She fidgets nervously for a moment before speaking again.]
L-let's go find a place to sit, okay? We need to talk about some things.
no subject
Okay, no, he needs to man the hell up and he might as well start now.]
Sure. Just drag me over to a spot that appeals to you all caveman style.
no subject
And here I thought it was the guy caveman who did the dragging.
[But she'll still lead him over to a bench near some trees, and she'll sit down once they're there.]
no subject
[Davesprite sits down next to her and tries not to squirm or fidget.]
So...what's up?
[Smoother than butter.]
no subject
[Sob how does she even start to say this?]
Well, first off, I wanted to say sorry. I've been avoiding you for the last week, and even though I had a good reason for it, it still wasn't cool to ignore you like that. And if you don't hate me after all of this, then I'm going to make sure not to avoid you like that again.
no subject
[Davesprite hesitates for a moment.]
Was it something I said or did?
no subject
Not exactly, no.
...Well, kind of.
[She rubs at the back of her neck as she looks away from Davesprite.]
See, I realized something. I guess it was always there and I just didn't notice it before now, I'm kind of dense like that, but.
[She glances back at Davesprite, though she doesn't fully turn to face him yet. She knows she has to say this, but she's still scared of rejection. Hell, a year ago she would have just ignored all of this and ran. Changing her life the way she has made her more bold, at least.]
I...kind of like you? In more than a "just friends" way.
no subject
Words, don't fail him now.]
I like you that way, too. It would've been hard not to.
no subject
She looks up at him fully now.]
...really? You're not messing with me or anything?
no subject
Please tell me I don't come off as that kinda douchebag. I might have to tone down my levels of being a cranky bird. ...Nah, I ain't messing.
no subject
[She trails off there, and she turns a bit pink in the face.]
So what happens now?
no subject
Uh...wanna catch a movie sometime? Just. Me and you?
[A beat.]
Gonna need to introduce you to Dirk and Bro. Even if you have already.
no subject
[A pause.]
Both of those things, I mean. And I guess this means I should introduce you to Banjou too, he's the closest thing to family I've got here.
no subject
[Please say no Nicolas Cage.]
no subject
[There's too much of that in the bubble.]

I'm pretty sure we can find something from our worlds in Nostalgia Nook that doesn't involve water as a main focus. If we're lucky, we won't get a beach scene, too.
