[Morning]

[He's quiet in the morning. It's sunk in by now that Sola, someone who had come to be a good friend to him, isn't around anymore. The troll is sitting by the coral, cross legged with his skateboard on the ground in front of him, moving it idly back and forth with one hand.

It bumps over the same dip in the stone each time, and each time he rocks forwards slightly as if the small disturbance in equilibrium is about to topple him. A lot of things about this place are good, and he prefers it greatly to the dream bubbles.. but he doesn't like how it keeps taking his friends away.]


[Afternoon]

[Later on in the day he's actually using the skateboard, rolling down one of the quieter streets in the bubble (and a good thing too, with his habit of bumping into people). When he comes to a short flight of steps leading to a street on a lower level, he barely hesitates. Most people would stop and dismount. A skater sure of themselves would no doubt jump the steps.

Mituna does neither of those things, but it seems he's attempting the latter as he bumps the board down the first step and promptly loses his balance, falling forwards and crashing face-first into the ground with a dull cracking sound. Rather than his usual stream of curses he only lets out a stunted, winded grunt and slowly rolls onto his side, one arm curled around his chest. He spits out a bit of yellow blood and half a chipped tooth.

Ah, maybe he's actually hurt himself this time.]

[The loss of people this month seems to have really taken its toll on the bubble. Sola's disappearance in particular has affected everyone in the house, and it really isn't the same without the Hylian around. After finishing his morning routine in his garden Fai treats himself to a walk as an attempt to get his mind off of things.

Sadly it's only half working. Out by the coral he sees Mituna and after some mental debate the boy approaches slowly. He's never met any of the yellow-bloods before, but he remembers Sola talking about them and he can imagine why one would be sitting here now.]

Is it okay if I sit with you?

[helmetdoesnothing]

[Mituna looks up slowly, fidgeting with the sleeve of his t-shirt as he examines the other boy, then he gives a small, jerky nod and shuffles over to make space (even if there was already plenty of it) for Fai to sit down.]

I gueth. Who're you?

[faiofmisfortune]

My name's Fai.

[He makes sure to seat himself in the space that Mituna made for him. The way he sees it, that's the place the troll is comfortable with Fai being in. It was tempting to ask if the yellow-blood was waiting for Sola but he decided to keep on with introductions. These kind of conversations need to be eased into.]

My brother and I share that name, but we're pretty easy to tell apart because he's big.

[Where there are quiet streets, Shinjiro is likely there passing the time. He perks up at the sound of wheels rolling along the ground, but doesn't take a wholehearted look until the painful grunt takes its place.

Oh hey, it's that guy he spoke to on the surface.]

Y'don't strike me as the type to skateboard. [He comments, but also holds an arm out if he needs it.]

[helmetdoesnothing]

Fai... [It's muttered under his breath as he works his teeth around the sounds.] I'm Mituna.

[He frowns.] ...Why don't you have different nameth?

[helmetdoesnothing]

Gnh. [That's the only sound out of him for a few moments while he wipes the blood from his lip and rolls onto his back. He sits up, hissing out a long, low 'fuck' under his breath as the tip of his forked tongue prods at his broken tooth, then he squints up at Shinjiro.

It's lucky he had his helmet on for that fall. The visor is cracked from the impact.]

... Why the fuck not?

[Arm is still out, but if Mituna doesn't take it, back to the pocket it will retreat.]

You're not wearing decent equipment, plus it just doesn't suit you.

[But perhaps the troll can eventually prove him wrong. Shinjiro's not here to make fun of him; only state what he's observed.]

We had different names when we were born. Then we were separated and he went to live with someone far away from me. He started using my name because he wanted to keep me with him.

[Fai prefers to stick with them just being separated instead of bringing up his own death. He doesn't like to talk about it. This goes doubly so when he hears the name Mituna, because he then knows this is Sola's friend and he doesn't like the reminder that Sola going back home means he's gone to his death.]

He'll still answer to his own name if you use it, but I know he's not used to it anymore. [He gives a half-hearted laugh.] When I first showed up it really confused people, including me.

It wasn't unusual for Latula to wake up after Mituna, just like it wasn't unusual for him to be on his own for part of the day. She'd accepted (and was actually really happy about) the fact that he had his own core group of friends here, and while she wasn't quite comfortable enough with the strange city to be the super-active grrl she'd been in among their friends, she wasn't about to interfere with the friendships he'd built here, when she'd been 'missing' (at least, that's what had happened, as far as she understood). So he did his own thing, she did hers - learning the city, exploring the place, figuring out what was what.

Still, he'd been quiet for a couple days, and she'd been worried, and for the first time since she'd arrived in Vatheon, she actually was halfway looking for him when she left the hive that morning.

When she found him, she sat next to him, her hands hanging loosely between her knees. She didn't say anything, choosing instead to gently headbump him, leaning her weight into his lanky frame.

Afternoon

[The sounds of skating, and of falling, are by now very familiar to Kurloz, and they don't particularly worry him. Mituna's helmet is there for a reason, after all.

It's why he's in no particular hurry when he heads over toward the stairway where he heard the noise. What he does first is gather up the skateboard, then tap Mituna with it, as he holds it out to its owner.]

[Dualscar comes upon the young troll as hes sitting and toying with his skateboard. The troll attracts his curiosity, and he pauses to look. He vaguely remembers seeing the yellowblood around, but he doesn't recall actually talking to him, and he is probably remembering times he's seeing Sollux, also, and mixing it together.

After a moment of thought, he approaches.]

Wwhat're you doin', boy?

[helmetdoesnothing]

[Mituna scoffs the sound coming out as something of a derisive 'kheh' as his tongue half clicks against the roof of his mouth. He doesn't take Shinjiro's arm, disliking touching strangers for the most part, but pulls himself shakily to his feet using a nearby wall.

He prods at his broken tooth with one fingertip.]

You think you can do better, ith that it?

Strangely, he'd grown used to being without her, and now he was getting used to having her back, though he couldn't say he had any issues at all with waking up next to her every morning. She was cooler than him now, but even feeling the difference in the temperature of their bodies was something he didn't want to lose again.

He started a little when she touched him, but a quick look was enough to quiet him down again. Things never tended to trouble him for long, mostly because he forgot about them, but this was playing on his mind.

"Hey, babe."

[helmetdoesnothing]

[His silence and the quiet staring that follows makes it pretty clear that he has no idea what Fai is talking about, but that doesn't really matter. It's an effort to get him to concentrate on one thing for long, but the last thing that's said prompts a question.]

... Why?

[faiofmisfortune]

[Yeah he knows it's pretty confusing. He's trying to keep things as simple as possible, he swears.]

I didn't know he was using my name, and everyone that knew him here had never heard of me. We look a lot like each other too so I think people thought that I was a younger him. I didn't understand why everybody already knew my name.

[redpeacoat]

I'm not stupid enough to try.

[Shinjiro is a strong guy, but he doesn't have the stamina for such activities anymore.]

I know my limits.

[helmetdoesnothing]

[Mituna looks up, and instantly freezes. It's not fear, or shock, but a rather open curiosity as he outright stares at the older troll from behind the visor of his helmet. He's not afraid of the Ancestor trolls, not wary of even the highbloods in the way he probably ought to be.]

I'm thitting here. The fh-fuck doeth it look like?

[helmetdoesnothing]

[That gets a little sound out of Mituna that sounded as if it was trying to be a laugh. He pulls his board towards him, setting it upside down on his lap and toying with one of the wheels.]

There'th thomeone here who lookth like an older me too. [And a younger one, but Sollux resembles him a little less.] Why doethn't he uthe hith own name if you're here. That'th weird.

[helmetdoesnothing]

It'th not thtupid.

[And he can't leave that tooth alone, prodding at it now and then with the tip of his tongue between sentences. It feels strange.]

It'th fun.

[He's remarkably chipper for someone who just broke a tooth, and now there's a bruise blossoming on his jaw, too.]

[helmetdoesnothing]

[It's a good thing he did have his helmet on for such a fall, because it looks like he's actually cracked the visor as well as chipping his tooth. That's going to need to be fixed.

He can see to that later. Right now, he's mutter-grumbling expletives as he grabs the board from Kurloz and stumbles up to his feet.]

[Fai just watches Mituna fiddle with his skateboard for a moment before he answers. He had talked about it with his brother before, but it's still a complicated topic.]

It is a little weird, but he's gone by that name for a long time. Everybody's used to calling him that. I don't really mind, it's pretty easy to tell which one of us people are talking about.

[He thinks so, at least. Probably because he's convinced nobody ever talks about him. They didn't need to be as reliant on names as they were when they were the same age. At this point so long as Fai could call his brother 'Yuui' and get a response, he really didn't care what others called him.]

[Doing that, Mituna reminds him a little of his best friend, Akihiko. Aki was stubborn; he never quit even when he got beat up. He wasn't always like that, but in the recent years he's really toughened up.]

...Get some proper equipment then.

[zipperlips]

[The cracked visor is the first sign Kurloz gets that the fall went worse than usual this time, followed by the blood around Mituna's mouth. He frowns, and holds up a hand in a gesture for Mituna to stop, leaning in to check. Did he maybe bite through his lip?]

It looks like you're playin' wwith something. [He points to the skateboard. He sits down, slightly above the boy, but at a comfortable conversational distance. He does interpret Mituna's reaction as fear, and he doesn't particularly want that at the moment, but he also doesn't want to surrender the high ground] I'm Orphaner Dualscar. Wwho're you?

[helmetdoesnothing]

[A few dull sparks flicker around his horns, and he shifts a bit, putting a little more distance between he and the other troll.]

Mituna Captor. [He hugs his board up against his chest, drawing his knees up slightly.] I'm not playin'-- [Was that a faint mimic of Dualscar's accent? Yes it was. He sounds... familiar, somehow.]

I'm... [Well, what is he doing? His voice drops slightly.] ... thinking.
