It's not like he's had many opportunities to peruse the contents, being a reaper.]
Will you mind if I interrupt your work?
[Because he sure is going to seat himself right next to her and try to pluck needle, thread, and pillowcase-in-progress out of her hands, one way or another, and asking is probably for courtesy's sake.
Insistent, entitled little god.]

[He has a first aid kit, what???]
Ah, Kid, I told you it's not a big deal, I'm not going to bleed out from some pricks.
no subject
...Nope, he is persistently trying to get Maka's hands free and at least one of them in his possession.]
Of course not. But seeing as I'm responsible for one of these, I might as well tend to it.
And the other, too, since I've already brought the kit and everything.
[because symmetry, don't pretend it isn't]
no subject
[Kid that is silly don't embarrass her oh god.]
no subject
[There's a negligible amount of blood smeared there, oh no he needs to address this, which means he's going to dab a cotton ball with disinfectant and then cradle one of her (considerably warmer) hands in his lukewarm fingers.]
Specifically, that you saw it necessary to do even this to yourself so casually because of me-- it's bothering me.
no subject
[Maka no it wasn't, even Kid's not that dumb.]
[Her guilty, downturned stare and furious blushing isn't very convincing.]
no subject
He's cold, she's cold, but cuddling seems kind of weird when he's pretty sure she's lying to him.]
It's because I haven't changed at all, isn't it.
no subject
[Don't start that, please, she can't handle backsliding into that again.]
I'm the one that hasn't changed, I still want to bend over backwards to please you even if that's not what you want.
no subject
So he tries it again, on the heel of her palm, and then on the hollow of it, and finally on the bony ridges of her knuckles.
Maybe it's because it's a better apology than he's been able to utter.]
no subject
But being so intimate with someone she's physically and romantically attracted to never fails to freak her out.]
A-ah--
[Maka can't speak, only have her face turn bright red and stare at him like a deer in headlights, forgetting that technically Kid interrupted her work for this.
Suddenly she wants to kiss him, but restrains herself.]
no subject
Okay there could really be something to this gestures of affection thing.
(It's obnoxious how he keeps discovering this like it's a new thing.)
But, of course, since he's done this to one hand he has to do the same for the other, and now it's starting to feel like maybe he's being really weird and oh god, what if someone walks in and laughs at him for being ridiculous.
Then he might really spontaneously combust with embarrassment.
...Why isn't she saying anything...
This thought results in Kid tilting his eyes up at her, then straightening in a rush to retrieve and unpeel a bandaid from its packaging.]
Excuse me.
no subject
[Come on, Maka, say something.]
I...
[SAY SOMETHING.]
Why'd you stop?
[ANYTHING BUT THAT.]
no subject
Why..?
[This is mood whiplash, going from that miserable state of guilt and confusion right into a weird sort of elation and heart-pounding self-consciousness, and for a few moments the best the young god can muster is to parrot parts of a question.]
...
[Help, he's a dumbass boy and doesn't know what to do right now--okay no he has an idea but--]
I think you can finish sewing.
[A finger lifts, weakly.]
Upstairs.
[In their room. And not finish sewing at all because kissing sounds like a pretty awesome idea WOW HE IS SO EMBARRASSING.]
no subject
[Alone because gosh kissing does sound like a pretty awesome idea THIS IS WEIRD SHE'S BEEN DATING A GUY FOR A YEAR HOW IS THIS STILL MAKING HER FLUTTERY??]
We can...talk as I'm finishing sewing.
[She wouldn't know an innuendo if it danced naked in front of her and neither would Kid, so why bother.]
[Instead of delaying any further, Maka takes Kid's hand gently to lead him upstairs with her.]
no subject
It... sure is a good thing Maka is reading from the same page as Kid, because having to explain anything would have probably made him collapse in mortification. Why these Shibusen kids needed to be so damned dramatic about things, one can only guess.
But he has to scramble to keep a hold on the first aid kit, as his other hand is occupied by Maka tugging him along. Some token resistance is offered -- but only long enough to deposit the kit on the abandoned couch.
...When he joins her again, it's with a faint squeeze of his fingers with hers, and golden stare determined to keep to hers, even if the embarrassment is obvious.]
I wouldn't mind an excuse to get warmer, either.
[Because wow he is not used to being this damn cold.]
no subject
[Well okay she'll just be the embarrassing lovey dovey cuddly girlfriend, you brought this on yourself Kid.]
[But in actuality she feels fidgety when she tries to meet his gaze and instead distracts herself with leaning on his arm.
...She forgot her sewing things, could this get any more obvious.]
no subject
Okay, admittedly, inviting Maka upstairs for (albeit more private) more physical expressions of affection is really forward for him, even if he might have driven other people to exasperation with his near-glacial pace.
In that light, that he ended up in a relationship with Rin and Maka, so accepting of his eccentricities as a reaper, makes him quite fortunate.
...Upstairs could mean anything.
Or it could mean he intends on shuffling awkwardly down the hall with Maka against his arm and nearly miss the first of their rooms.]
no subject
Kid, it's here.
[The door is open anyway, so she gives him a gentle push into the room before walking past him and looking around for a place to--well--cuddle, feeling her stomach twist around.
Suppose the only option is the bed. She takes him by the hand again to guide him there, it's not like they're going to jump on each other like crazy animals or something, likely they'll progress from sitting to cuddling and eventually kissing.
Being Maka, it does not occur to her that being alone with someone that's her boyfriend is all the things her father feared for reasons besides chaste cuddles and kisses.]
no subject
--Maka!
[A staggering stumble forward into the room, and before Kid can really fuss about this, her hand is in his, pulling him along.
He has to think about that a moment.
Would this have normally rankled him, from anyone else? Certainly, if it wasn't Rin, or Maka, or the Thompson sisters--
So why does it give him the sense that his heart is swelling, and being constricted, all at once?]
I don't need to be escorted.
[Yes you do you were headed the wrong way]
no subject
[Luckily she will always provide helpful obvious explanations.
Though once she's said it, she shifts, looking off to the side while flexing her fingers against the sheets, blushing and feeling as though her heart was going to beat right out of her chest.]
Unless...here isn't okay?
no subject
[Wow Kid going the wrong way is only that bad to you.]
Here..?
[Cupping his chin with a hand, he turns to face her, speculatively regarding her position with respect to their immediate surroundings. His hands finally reach down to clasp her about her waist, and so he seeks to nudge her over.
Just an inch or two.
With supreme satisfaction -- and without actually removing his hands:]
Now it's absolutely perfect.
no subject
I'm so glad you're here. I don't know what I'd do without you sometimes.
