Who: bitty Fai and anyone
Where: backyard of Phanga 13
When: Any time during the day of June 26
Style: I will match
Status: Open
[It was a little disheartening to see all the time and work he had put into his backyard gardens get destroyed in the flood. But when you have nothing but time and are too young to work any sort of job you find yourself a lot more dedicated to projects like this.
Fai felt like he'd waited long enough for the soil to recover and had long since pulled up all of the dead plants. The potted members of the herb garden- the only survivors, and only thanks to his sylladex- were sitting on the porch along with the slew of sprouts, flowers and seeds he'll need to plant. If you happen to walk by Phanga 13 at any time today he'll be out there working to get his favorite place back to the way it should be.]

[Sola strolls out into the yard and retrieves several large bags of nutrient rich garden plot soil from his sylladex, setting them against the fence. Sola had been worried about their garden as well, more for Fai's sake than his own, but seeing the waterlogged yard when they'd returned had been a major downer. He's pledged to help Fai rebuild though, so here he is!]
I have these little shovels called trowels the guy at the shop gave me too, but they just look like tiny shovels to me. I dunno why they need a special name.

[He really does appreciate it, although he's going to feel a little awkward giving Sola any kind of direction. Fai supposes that if he can't bring himself to do it he can always give the Hylian the map and his notes on the section he had for bees. He'd planted the original version for Sola anyway.
Sola's comment is met with a shrug.]
People like to give special names to everything. That's just how they are.

[He shrugs and looks out across the arrayed supplies.]
Do you want to make it look like before, or try something new?
[He smiles at Fai, excited to get digging. Nothing more satisfying then playing in the dirt!]

[Fai grins back, checking his list one more time. Yep, that makes everything.]
I like how I had things split up, but I am changing some of the plants going into it.

[He peeks over Fai's shoulder to see if there's a diagram or something. Generally he knows he just needs to lay out the replacement dirt for the flower beds since the existing dirt was tainted by the salt water flood, but he likes to know what the finished product is going to look like.]

It'll be something like this. A lot of the herbs we'll leave in the pots, except for one of the basil plants. It'll go in the back row.
no subject
Looks good! Let's get started.
[Sola claps his hands together then gets to work, grabbing a full size shovel and starting to dig out the row against the fence first. He's surprisingly quick at this...]
no subject
H-have you done this before?
no subject
[He keeps digging as he goes, turning the soil and leaving it in clumps on the side of the planting trenches so the fresh, nutrient rich soil can take its place.]
no subject
Yeah, that's all I had to do the first time. I didn't know the salt could keep things from growing until I read about it, but at least I found out before I tried to replant everything. I just hope it grows okay once we're done.

[He keeps digging as he talks, pleased at the idea of all the bug visitors.]

[Fai's not terribly fond of insects, but he knows that butterflies and bees can be good for the environment and the rest of his garden. Not to mention he remembers how happy Sola had sounded when he talked about the bee garden he'd helped make before. He wanted everyone in the house to enjoy this place. Carefully now he carries the old dirt to a pile near the fence's gate so that it can be taken away elsewhere later.]
I want it to be awesome too. Then Yuui can use the food and herbs again when he cooks.

[He finishes the row against the fence and starts to dig up the second, methodically turning the dirt and putting the contaminated soil aside so it can be removed.]

Leaning his arms on top of the fence, he giving Fai a friendly smile.]
Hey, lil' dude. What's the haps?
no subject
...The flood ruined my garden, s-so I need to replant everything. [He really shouldn't be this nervous, Darkleer had said that Fai and Gamzee would get along. He needs to trust that judgment.] You're Gamzee, right?
no subject
[Gamzee studies him for a moment, but no name bubbles up in his sluggish brain to match to the face. Ah well.]
You're one of Darkleer's bro, right? Haha, can't all be getting my remember on for your name though.
no subject
[Fai pulls a watering can out of his sylladex and starts watering some of the potted herbs. It's mostly to keep himself from being too nervous.]
My name's Fai- my brother and I share that name so I hope it's not too confusing.
no subject
No worries, man.
[He observes him watering the plants for a moment, and then--]
You want a hand?
no subject
You can help if you want to... Not all of the planting's been redone. And everything still needs to be watered.
no subject
[Rather than take the smart man's way around the fence, Gamzee pushes himself up and vaults over the wooden structure. He mostly clears it too, all apart of the tip of one of his huge sneakers which momentarily gets hooked behind the fence. He still lands on his feet, though a little shakily, with a few extra steps until he completely has regained his balance.
Perfect 10.
He squats down so he is more at eye-level with Fai]
Just tell me what I gotta be doing here.
no subject
He blinked a few times, shook his head... Gamzee was fine. Everything is fine. With the troll on eye level he relaxes, offering the watering can to the other.]
You can do the watering. All the places with little tabs in the ground.
no subject
Gamzee doesn't really notice any of his worries (he doesn't really know the kid well enough yet to know when he is worried or not) taking the offered can.]
Haha, all getting to be like a motherfuckin' raincloud, shit, I can do that for you, man, no biggie.
no subject
The thought of him being a raincloud brings a grin to Fai's face. Certainly the troll's a lot less serious. He's okay with this. He reaches for a pot with an already well-grown basil plant in it and a trowel so he can transplant it back into the bee garden where it belonged.]
Still, I never really expect anyone to want to help me with anything. I'm not used to it.
no subject
[Gamzee sets to work, tipping the watering can over each of the little tabs.]
Maybe it ain't all being faygo, but drink up lil' dudes. You gotta do some growing and shit.
