Kanaya Maryams Storefront For Commissioned Ragripping And Seamstressing With Display Space For Artistic Clothing Creations is finally open again. Kanaya spent about a week getting things repaired and ready in the shop after the bubble was fixed. Even once the debris was cleared and the ruined items tossed, Kanaya took a little time to make some new items for the display room before opening the doors to the public.

*Feel free to backdate, all the way up to when the bubble finally opened back up. If you're there during that first week, the shop will be closed, but unlocked. Kanaya's expecting some friends to come help, after all. After the first week the store will be back to it's regular unusual hours, open whenever Kanaya feels like getting some work done. Please indicate the date when you want a thread to start.

Fai definitely wanted to help clean up the shop since it had been such a lovely place before the flood. No one deserved to lose something so precious that they put so much hard work into. So Fai was determined to help get it back in shape!

Knocking lightly on the door as he opened it, Fai peeked inside to survey some of the damage. "hello..?"

Heeeeey, Kanaya!

[That sure is a vampire queen bursting through the doors, her axe bass on her back.]

Here to talk about underwear and stage stuff- I just got a real big gig coming up!

Well, the front room is certainly a mess. Mannequins and dressforms are strewn about, and only a few of them are standing. One is still wearing a soggy three piece suit. The walls are obviously water damaged, and there's a large pile of clothing in the middle of the room that seems to have been... tie dyed? Along with the puddles of standing water on the floor this place has certainly seen better days.

The curtain to the back room must have fell down, as it's on the floor and has been kicked to one side. Kanaya comes through the empty door frame when she hears the greeting. "Oh, hello Fai. Thank you again for the assistance. I would apologize for the mess, but that's pretty much the reason you're here, so what would be the point?"

So I've heard. I've already got a few ideas but you're the artist here, it's your show.

[She eyes up the bass for a moment.]

You know, when Jade described your guitar as 'wicked' I figured it was a colloquialism... now I'm not so sure.

[Swinging her ax off her back and into her hands with little regards to personal safety or anyone else's safety or property damage, Marceline just grins all the more.]

Fully functional as both weapon and instrument of rock. Nice, right? Anyway, let's start with somethin' for the stage, first. Gonna be some classic stuff. Want to hear some of the songs I got planned?

[Well, she can certainly appreciate a weapon that doubles as an item of some other utility. Music's not really her forte though... but why not? Besides, how often do you get a private concert with the weekend's big act?]

Sure. I'm not really familiar with your style at all so the music is a good place to start.

Yeah, some tunes go better with some clothes. Trust me, I know.

[Not her first rodeo and all. She starts to settle the bass in her arms.]

I've been opening up with this lately- lemme know what you think. It's one of my own songs, the rest'll be covers to ease the city into my style.

[Kanaya sits still in rapt attention. It's not really anything she's experienced before. They didn't really have that much music at all on Alternia... and nothing like this. What little she did hear never really interested her either. Alternian practicality doesn't exactly lend itself to emotionally charged music. Even once Marceline stops Kanaya doesn't respond, looking a bit stunned.]

[Marceline stops playing, adjusting the strings a little.]

So yeah, that's my starter, but I'll mellow out as the night goes on.

[A glance to Kanaya, and she grins.]

Wow, that good, huh?

[It takes her a moment to find the words. This is pretty much the first time she's ever heard someone play music in person. There wasn't any time or opportunity in the game... and she lived by herself on Alternia. Even after a year here she managed to avoid any actual performances. She's heard music before, of course, in the shops of the bubble, or as a part of troll cinema... but that was nothing compared to the real thing, this close. She feels excited, but she's not sure why or how.]

I don't... know? It was very energetic... I don't really know how I'm supposed to respond. I've never really listened to music before. I mean, I've never really listened. I'm not sure how I feel about it... but I think I would like to hear some more, if that's fine with you?

[Marceline can't help but grin- probably a bit more than she really would normally let herself. The reaction reminds her a bit of another prissy fussy kind of girl reacted to her music too, after actually seeing it.]

Heheheh, just as long as you're thinking of what's going to look killer on me when I play it on stage with a full band. Alright, I'll do one of the first covers, then switch to one of the calmer ones.

[Still smiling, she starts up the next song, twisting and twirling in the air. Best to get all this energy out because the song after isn't quite the same.]

[If Kanaya still wasn't certain of her reaction then Marceline probably is. It's written on her face, as she starts to smile even before the Joan Jett number is finished. Half way through the third song, and her eyes are closed as she's bobbing her head slightly with the beat. However, she's a little more prepared as the song comes to an end.]

I like it.

As for dressing for the music... I think I might have some ideas. I've been reading a few books on the sorts of clothing common in musicians with this sort of attitude. Deconstruction is a common theme, like denim pants with worn out knees... but that last song shows a bit of elegance. Maybe we could do a mix? A classy sort of top mixed with those sorts of pants... or dress slacks with a torn tank top. Maybe even an overall blend, like a whole suit that's been aged and torn. What do you think?

[Marceline hangs her bass on her back again and imagines how it would look in her head. Not gonna lie- she's liking what she's imagining.]

I think I could definitely pull it off. I know I look awesome in suits. What were you thinking of in terms of 'classy' tops, anyway? Got somethin' I can look at?

[Ding ding, chime chime, cluck cluck, whatever sound her shop makes upon having a customer enter. Summoner steps it, glancing around as soon as it sounds off, hands going into his pockets. He whistles, long, lips puckered a bit.]

Looks even better this time around- not that, it, uh looked bad the first time. [Chuckle.]

Fai frowned when he saw the state of the room. It really was rather sad how all of this used to be so exciting to look at and now it was all in ruins. He really hoped he could return it to some of it's former glory.

"It is the reason I am here and I hope I can be really helpful in making things get back to normal." He offered a smile as he walked further into the room.

Well, as a matter of fact...

[she'll just rush into the back room real quick. Now that everything's been properly organized she knows right where to find the pieces she's thinking of. She's back in just a few seconds. It does help that she racked the separates closest to the door. When she returns, she's holding three hangers with three different tops.]

Alright, so I've got a lace paneled cardigan, a bustier with short lace sleeves, and finally, my favorite of the three. I'm thinking any one of these, paired with some super skinny fit black denim pants that have been distressed and torn just right...

Oooh, nice..

[She floats over, looking them over and getting a feel for them in her hands. Despite how she's shown a rather playful and rocker vibe before, Marceline is fairly careful in her handling and critical with her examination.]

Yeah, I could definitely go for wearing any of these. First one's nice, could unbutton it a little if things get hot- something underneath, obviously, heh. Third one is pretty nice too..

Would that be the Summoner, walking in my front door?

[Kanaya comes out from the workroom with a grin.]

I'd have to agree with you, the flooding gave me an excuse to redo everything. It forced me to clear out the clutter in my workroom, and the remodeling of the display room has been fantastic.

So. It's been quite a while. To what do I owe the pleasure?

It would, never to disappoint. [A laugh, glancing back, hands still in his pockets.]

Heard it reopened, not uh, not much else. Though I guess- [Slides a hand through his hair.]

Guess I have something, ya know, smaller in mind. ["Smaller". Liar.]

"Well," she starts, gesturing at the pile. "I brought out everything that I consider a loss, clothing wise at least. We're probably going to need to pull down the walls in here... and I have no idea where we're supposed to take the debris."

[She sets the bustier down on the counter, and opens the buttons on the cardigan.]

You could even wear these together, and remove the cardigan once you got started with your show.

[She places them together, showing how the tank top's ruffled end starts just below the cardigans bottom hem.]

As we have a few days before the show, I could make one of these pieces in a different color, if you'd like.

[Kanaya is hit with a jolt of panic that she just barely manages to suppress when she notes his obvious hesitance. She's had more than a few dealings with certain bluebloods recently... but would it be about that? Or does he have some other business? Better to find out than to reveal her own concerns.]

Oh? What sort of thing would that be?

"Lets just continue to make a big pile of it for now and then we can bag it up and see about calling someone who might know the answer. Just point me in the right direction and I'll get to work." There probably was no right direction considering the extent of the damage but he waited to see if there was someplace she felt he was better off starting at.

[He's got his eyes on her and manages to notice that little freeze up, something he said?]

Sorry, heh, if you're busy I can come by another time? Don't want to overload you.

"Alright," she replies, turning back to the workroom. "I have some things in here that should probably get pulled out. I'm afraid my serger is gone for good. The saltwater got into its gearbox. If you'd give me a hand with that first?" Kanaya continues into the work room. The damage isn't too bad in here, though the southern wall is now stained by dyes. It would almost be fine with those splashes of color, if it wasn't so haphazard, leading to large patches of dirty brown-grey where all the colors mixed. The walls still seem in good condition though, unlike the display room. A good coat of paint ought to do for removing the problem.

She stops at one of the sewing machines in the back of the room. It's a large serger model, and worse, it's built into its own table. "It's not too heavy, but just large enough to be hard to move by myself." So she says, but a sturdy table and large machine like this would have to be quite heavy, so much so that two normal people might find it at least difficult to move... but then, Kanaya and Fai aren't normal people, are they?

She moves to the other side of it, ready to lift.
