Leo made his way into the park and picked out a large shady tree with a bench to sit under. If he was going to be spending all afternoon in one place it had to be somewhere comfortable and easy to be spotted in.

Buford was with him and he was using the sentient table to rest his SFC on so he could check for any messages while he waited for people to come get the app programmed in. He had no clue how many takers - if any - there would be, but he hoped that at least a few would be interested. He could really use the money to get some things from the Nostalgia Nook, especially some celestial bronze. He had a few projects lined up and couldn't get anywhere on them without some decent funding.

While he waited, he kept himself busy by fiddling around with some materials he'd gathered from the shopping district and from his magic tool belt. He built tiny machines and then took them apart again to make something new.

"Anywhere devoid of pizza is nowhere worth being, if you ask me." Leo laughed. Though there probably was some sad planet in some sad universe that lacked pizza. Thankfully, Vatheon was not one of those places.

He could smell the scent of pizza wafting from about a block away. Man, did that make him hungrier than he already was.

"It doesn't even deserve to exist." Sure, pizza wasn't quite the same now that she was undead- but it was definitely better than some of the pizza she found when Ooo was still a wasteland filled with radioactive monsters and thus most food kind of sucked.

...Good veal, 'tho. Wonder if you can get that on pizza...

Smelling the pizza definitely puts a skip in her- float. "I guess I'm kinda glad we got this place de-waterfied. I can only imagine the kind of junk you would be stuck with on the island."

"Fruit. Fruit. And more fruit," Leo said. "I don't think that would have made for good pizza. Not that I had to worry about that, my tool belt provided my friends and I with some food." He hadn't meant to say that. He'd only meant to think it, but it came tumbling out of his mouth anyway. "If I'd been able to get enough food for everyone, I would have shared."

If he thinks Marceline is going to judge him for hoarding things for himself and his bros, he has another thing coming. She just nods. "Hey, gotta look after your amigos first before you start getting cozy with random weirdos." Grin. "Like me."

"But getting cozy with random weirdos is fun."

They arrive at the pizza place and after sitting down Leo orders a large pizza with extra pepperoni for them to split and a coke for himself. He flashes his mark on his lower right arm and waits for Marceline to order whatever she wants to drink.

"Definitely." Marceline sprawls over at least three seats cozily, and just shakes her head when the server asks if there's anything she wants to drink. When you're a vampire, you drink all the time.

"Made some of my best friends by getting cozy with 'em, and then kicking them out of their house." Is that weird? She apparently doesn't notice.

"That's a weird way to make friends. Glad I got to miss that step. Not that you'd have been able to get past all the traps I have set." The last part he hadn't meant to say.

The server brought Leo his coke and he sipped at that while they waited for the pizza to arrive.

"I don't know, I'm preeetty sneaky. Besides, they were technically living in my house." Shrug. "I was in my rights! They got it back anyway."

"Well, that's a different story there. So they were squatting in your house?" Leo took a drink of his coke.

"Kiiind of. I tend to move around a lot, because I was avoiding someone I used to know really well." A pause, and she gave a slight scowl. "Wow, I cannot wait for this week to be over."

"I moved around a lot, too," Leo said. He'd hoped to leave it there, but no, the curse wasn't that kind. "After my mom died and my Aunt Rosa gave me away to the state, I ran away from six foster homes before they sent me to a boarding school for delinquents."

No. No she was not going to go into a feelings spill to a dude that, while pretty chill, was not one of her best friends. She was going to bite her tongue. Not gonna say a word.

"Yeah, I ended up getting stuck in someplace out of the Nightosphere before it was really Ooo, and it was pretty much a messed up apocalypse with all sorts of nasty crud out there. Me and Simon couldn't stay in any place for long because it was too dangerous, but he had this weird crown that messed with his head everytime he put it on. Eventually we couldn't stay together because he was scared of what it could do and sometimes he couldn't even remember who I was sometimes. I stayed with my dad for a little while, but he just didn't get it, and he didn't really understand my feelings at all for, like, centuries. He just kept wanting to make me inherit the Nightosphere, so I kind of ditched him and ran away into Ooo, but it felt like no matter where I moved to, Simon always found me except he couldn't even remember being Simon and seeing him always made things worse."

...

"Frick."

Leo frowned. That was a pretty rough past. He felt bad knowing all of that when she didn't know the full story about his past. It wasn't even the curse making him spill at this point, it was about fairness.

"When I was 8, Gaia killed my mother in a fire that I blamed myself for until about 6 months ago when she told me it was her. My Aunt Rosa called me a diablo because of my fire powers and that's why she handed me over to foster care. She was scared of me. I couldn't stay anywhere for very long. I kept running away and living for months at a time on my own before they'd find me and put me into a new foster home. After my sixth time running away they sent me to the Wilderness school where I met my best friends Jason and Piper. That was where we found out we were demigods. Annabeth took us back to Camp Half-Blood, which is my new home. But we were out on a quest to save the world from being destroyed by Gaia and her giants when we wound up here."

"Rough." It's all she can really get herself to say, still kind of aggravated that she let that much out. "At least you have, like, good friends and stuff."

"I only met them pretty recently." Leo might have said more, but the server arrived with their pizza and he used that as an excuse to stuff his face and avoid telling sad stories from his past.

Thank Glob for pizza, and Marceline quickly stuffs her fangs into it too. One by one, the slices of pepperoni are drained of their delicious redness, along with the sauce of course. Once that's done, she puts the slice on her plate and nudges it towards Leo. "You want the rest?"

Leo had taken a bite of his pizza, but as he watched Marceline suck all the red out of her slice, he stared at her. That was very different than he'd expected.

"Is it still edible? Did you suck all the flavor out of it when you sucked the red out?" The cheese and crust still looked their right colors, but the pepperoni and sauce was now grey and looked unappetizing.

Marceline gave a shrug. "I don't think I sucked all the flavor out of it. Just the color and stuff. C'mon, you can still shove it in your mouth, it shouldn't be too bad."

Leo finished off his good slice and grabbed another before taking the de-red-ified slice. If it was as unappetizing as it looked, he didn't want to lose out on getting a good piece after. He apprehensively took a bite. It wasn't bad, but not great. It was probably completely psychological but he felt as though he could taste the lack of red.

Marceline's already moved onto her next slice, watching a little bit to see how he takes it. The expression on his face makes her laugh a little. "Not that bad, right?"

"Yeah. Maybe if I closed my eyes and ate it, it'd be better." He continued to eat the slice until it was finished and then happily dug into the piece on his plate.
