Swordplay Practice

It had been sometime since Link arrived here in Vatheon. While exploring the city and making new friends was fun and all, he was still a hero. And a hero always needed to be on guard. After all, one never knows when trouble might start. Which is why the young Hero of Winds was in the Plaza practicing his swordplay. Care to join him?

Here, Link. Have an ADHD demigod hero.

Percy watched the dude in the green tunic run through a few sword moves, clearly practicing, before he decided it might be safe to have a bit of sparring practice with him.

"Hey," he said, pulling a ballpoint pen out of his pocket. "You wanna practice together?"

He uncapped the pen and it became a three foot long sword. Riptide. It was made of Celestial bronze, and glowed a little bit, the metal's properties allowing it to only harm monsters, never mortals.

Who would actually pass up on training? Practicing by yourself was one thing, but practicing with friends was far more fun.

He spots Link and a smile instantly breaks out on his face as he heads over.

"Hey! Want someone to join you?"

Which was good as the Master Sword could only harm evildoers and no one pure of heart. Link turned to face the man and nodded yes in reply, going into a battle stance.

Link turned to face Sora and nodded yes as he got into a battle stance. Sorry Sora, he's not much of a talker.

That was fine by Sora. He could do enough talking for the both of them if he needed to.

He summoned the keyblade and dropped into his own battle stance. "Ready when you are!"

Upon seeing the key-shaped sword in his hand, Link made a mental note to ask about it later, but for now he charged at Sora and leapt into the air to perform a downward slash.

Sora tracked Link's movements. He was easy enough to follow, but he could tell he'd have a fun spar ahead of him that was for sure.

He went to block the slash, ready to counter with an attack of his own, a horizontal strike that coupled with Link's momentum should push him away ready for another blow.

The block and horizontal strike succeed in pushing Link away. But it was only temporary as the Hero of Winds sprang to his feet and lunged at Sora again. This time with a horizontal strike of his own. Sora didn't have to worry about getting hurt. The Master Sword could only harm those with evil in their hearts.

Even if that was the case Sora wasn't going to let himself get hit. Besides it wouldn't have been fun if Link didn't fight like he meant it. Sora jumped backwards before countering with a forward thrust followed by an upward slash. He moved forward as he did intent on striking Link more than once if he could.

Link blocked the thrust with his Mirror Shield before making another slash at Sora.

Sora wasn't so lucky on that strike. The sword hit him, and Sora was surprised to find he was actually okay. He didn't let the surprise last as he prepared himself for the next blow.

And the next blow came as well as another as the boy continued his assault.

Sora kept up with Link as they fought. He caught the blows as he needed, dodging others and moving to side when he could. He threw in a few tricks of his own now and again. Strike raid was always an unexpected move. What kind of fighter would just throw their weapon at their enemy?

That's what Link wanted to know as he blocked the incoming Keyblade and kept up the attack.

Good thing about Keyblades, they always return to their owner. Sora had it back in his hand in no time and was able to block the next attack as if it had never left.

Link wished his sword could do that. When Sora blocks the blow, Link counters by rolling to the side and performing a Parry attack from behind.

Sora wasn't going to be able to dodge that one. He swung around to try and block the blow so he could jump backwards and get out of the way. It throws him off balance though and he stumbles back rather than jumping leaving himself open for a direct hit.

And the hit connects and Link takes the opportunity to attack with more swings.

Percy nodded in return and got into his own fighting stance. he took a deep breath and felt his senses heighten, the way they always did in battle.

He struck first, with a swing aimed at the blond swordsman's midsection.

Link rolls around Percy to avoid the swing and perform a Parry attack aimed for his back.

[ooc: er...I don't know that I'm actually all that good at writing battle scenes, so bear with me.]

Percy quickly turned and his blade met his opponent's for the first time, with the satisfying clank of metal on metal.

The blades met, but Link was wearing his power bracelets, giving him some additonal physical strength. Link shifted his weight to push Percy back and throw him off balance.

Haha! But Percy is stronger than any normal human, so rather than losing his balance, he pushes back, using the leverage to jump back and swing his sword again, this time coming in low.

Link narrowly dodges the blade and leaps up to attack with a downward swing.

Percy blocks the attack with his sword and twists the top of Riptide's blade, a move meant to disarm.
