[Running away, shutting down, sheltering himself away from the things that hurt... these were the ways the Silver King dealt with grief. He knew it was cowardly. It always had been cowardly. But the loss of his sister decades ago had done everything to shape who he was, and he knew that who he was, wasn't that great of a person most of the time. He had been given more chances than he thought he deserved, but his time as Yashiro Isana had convinced him to try and change all that.
For a time, it worked.
But with Kuroh leaving, some part of him had fallen back in to those habits. He spent most of his time on the island alone since the bubble had cracked, only sleeping when he absolutely needed to, and sheltering his emotions by avoiding the Red Clan as often as he could manage. He didn't begrudge their hospitality, but they were a reminder of what he didn't have any more. When had he gotten so attached? When had he let some one in to his heart again? He didn't even know, and even if Kuroh was safe back home... at some point, he was going to return and then...
He didn't want to think about it. But it was there, on his mind as he sat on the shore, pants rolled up to his knees, sea water rushing up with the tide around him, gold eyes turned towards the very faint remnants of gold on the horizon.]
