[Ron has found somewhere to get new clothes, and has dressed himself in his Interview Best, which may or may not have been totally influenced by the snazziest and most handsome masked prosecutor Ron has ever met. It doesn't hurt that dress pants, a nice collared shirt and tie, and a pinstripe vest would probably look good on anyone, though! And it's definitely better than the tee and jeans he arrived in... which is important in an interview with someone who's fashionable, Ron's certain, and he definitely wants to make a good first impression, even if he's also planning to try and escape from here as quickly as possible.

Sitting on a bench near Ms. Maryam's shop, waiting for her to arrive to open it, Ron struggles to keep from fidgeting too much, or being too nervous; it's not like he's relying on getting a job for anything except to spend his time on, between whatever training sessions Shades¤DeShade had planned for him and attempts to get back home.

He might have only been here for a few days, but it was still the longest he'd spent away from his Dessie since they'd gotten married. Even when he'd been in jail, she'd written to him and come to the trial...

No, no, getting sad wouldn't do. Ron wouldn't be able to impress anyone if he was too sad to make good impressions! He bites his lip, and twiddles his thumbs, and tries to think positive thoughts, keeping an eye out for a fashionable-looking lady coming to open the shop.]

[Luckily he doesn't need to wait too long. Normally such nice weather up on the island would keep Kanaya up there until sundown, but the pollen has made any sort of outdoors activity a pain. She too is dressed to impress, sporting a finely tailored vest and suit that's a bit more gender neutral than what most enterprising young women might choose to wear. She's even abandoned her favored skirts for a pair of flat front slacks. Overall the result is quite professional, and combined with her normally stiff and mature demeanor it does help to make her look a little bit older than she really is... an effect that's sometimes desperately needed, particularly when a fourteen year old girl is going to consider hiring a 23 year old for her establishment.]

Mr. DeLite? I'm Kanaya Maryam. It's a pleasure to meet you. Shall we step inside and out of this miserable pollen?

[Ron was given a bit of a hint as to her... grey-and-behorned nature from his conversation with others of her species, so he isn't too surprised at that; but oh, gosh, she is so classy looking, and pulling off the vest look so much better than him, and suddenly he really, really wants this job.

Think of all the things he could learn from someone dressed like that!]

It's a pleasure to meet you too, Ms. Maryam! And, um, yes, that would be nice! It really is a bit awful, isn't it?

[He smiles at her, a bit nervously; that was the right thing to say, right?]

Come on then, let's go in and get cleaned up.

[Kanaya heads for the door, unlocking it with a small set of keys (Do they even need locks in Vatheon? I mean, it's not like there's really any thieves here, right?) The front room is normally filled with examples of her work, though right now it's host to several naked mannequins. It's incredibly dark too, until she turns on the lights; the front windows are covered in heavy fabrics, isolating the few dresses on display to the street from this room. Other than a counter filled with portfolios and fashion magazines there's not much to this room at all. One portion of the wall in the back is covered with a few different types of heavy fabric, presumably a portal to the rest of the building. A necessary defensive measure, when the pollen and dust blows in every time the door is opened. She hands a lint roller to Ron, and begins de-pollinating herself with another.]

If this keeps up much longer I might run out of these rollers... Anyway, welcome to my shop. Normally I keep several pieces on display here, either portions of my own collection, random projects, or commissions that I've finished and are awaiting their owners. Everything's in the work room at the moment to keep it clean. Once we've cleared ourselves a bit we'll go back there to talk.

[Ron follows, depollinating himself as best as he can, and nods understanding at Ms. Maryam.] That makes sense, it would be really awful to have to clean pollen from clothes that haven't even been worn yet, [he agrees, and hands her back the lint roller when he thinks he's pretty much unpollen'd.]

[She sets the rollers aside and begins to head for the back room. The fabric covered portion of the back wall is indeed hiding the entrance to the work area. After ducking through the layers of cloth they make it into the workshop. There's several racks near the back of various projects in many different stages of construction. One corner boasts a five panel mirror and pedestal, Perfect for taking measurements or doing fittings, with a three section blind nearby for the modest to change behind. The rest of the shop is the real business though: a few different sewing and surging machines on dedicated tables, and piles and shelves of cloth, notions, thread, and other paraphernalia. It's not particularly well organized though... she knows where to find what she wants, but there's no particular system for it.]

[Kanaya takes a seat near the dressing corner, and offers an empty chair to Ron.]

Would you like any tea? I keep a hot plate and serving set back here.
