What: stuff. anyone up for some sparring with a frustrated teenager?
Style: any

[ Somehow, he'd managed to avoid the last week and a half without much of an incident. No curses, no absurd holiday excursions or exchanged gifts. No candy, no anyone. It'd been exceedingly difficult to avoid Sora considering they were living together, but he'd been polite about it. Right? He'd leave before seeing him in the morning, come back when he'd been sure not to run into him.
His behavior, he admits, is rather peculiar, but he's doing it for a reason. Because he doesn't want it to be awkward anymore. He needs his best friend back; not his best friend with ideas. The last couple of days would have only cemented them, though he's sure it'll come to a point some time soon. He disliked confrontation with Sora, but he knew he couldn't escape it forever.
The island helps though. Home away from home.
Riku's taken advantage of the fairly warm weather--still not warm enough for what he's used to, but it's better than snow. Having found a niche somewhere between a couple trees, it's almost like his old sparring place. Not quite, since the sand is rough and it's not completely void of some vegetation. But it works. Usually. Between leaning back and watching the water or running through some random warm-ups, it's okay.
This time, he's building up a sweat. Having discarded his jacket, the stick he'd found is a strange substitute for the keyblade he could manifest, but he doesn't want to destroy the thing. So, he quietly advances around his invisible opponent, footwork a bit stiff. He could have asked anyone - Sora, maybe, even Roxas - but he's used to doing this alone, likes the company of nothing when he's feeling worked up. He strikes the tree once and stops, glaring at it.
Riku sighs. It didn't seem to be helping today. ]

I guess it'd really be no different than it is now.
We'd still act the same, but I guess we'd do things that couples do.
[ Like go on dates, which they already did it just wasn't called that, or hold hands, or...Sora's eyes drifted down to Riku's lips. What would it feel like if he kissed him? Sora had never thought about it before and even though the implications were there in being more than friends that simple action had not entered Sora's mind. ]

You mean... [ He can't actually say the word, biting on his tongue. This is all so silly and aggravating and more complicated than anything else they've dealt with. ] Have you thought about doing that stuff before?
[ Riku's sure he knows the answer to that already. Maybe with Kairi. Possibly. But most certainly not with him. Right? ]

Not really.
[ Yeah that was a blatant lie. He was never good at lying and the blush on his face was enough of a clue that it wasn't true. ]

You know. You're still a bad liar. [ This is where he's supposed to tease him about Kairi; it's what they always do, how everything always goes. But instead, he shifts onto his side, balancing on an elbow to look at Sora. Really look at him. ] Maybe... Maybe this place has made us both different.
[ Because he's steeling himself, reaching to grip Sora by his shirt to bring him close enough he can kiss him very, very lightly on the mouth. ]

[ Sora was mid protest when he felt the tug on his shirt. Before he could even think, his lips were pressed up against Riku and his heart did a flip in his chest. Oh god this....this was what Roxas meant. His heart felt as if it were growing, pounding, and somehow stopping all at once. His cheeks flushed and though his eyes had flown open in surprise at first he found them closing to soak in the moment with a sense other than sight.
[ Yeah he'd been thinking about Kairi, but now that he was kissing Riku the thought was quickly dismissed to focus on his best friend. One of Sora's hands moved to lightly grip the cloth of Riku's shirt as if he needed something to hold onto lest he float away. ]

Sorry. I didn't mean-- [ Well. Maybe he had meant it, but now it's just complicated and awkward and... He's severely over-thinking this. He sort of deflates and turns, pressing his face into the sand with a quiet ugh. ] I don't know why I did that.
[ Yes he does. ]

[ He opened his eyes again and watched as Riku turned away. His own cheeks were tinted and he wanted Riku to look at him again. Why did this hurt so badly? Sora said nothing as he stared at Riku's back. ]
Riku....
[ Sora wished he knew what to say. What could he say? He wanted...]
Haha, Riku it's okay! Don't worry about it. We're still friends and that's what matters right?
