[Davesprite is a stubborn motherfucker sometimes. And sometimes one can accuse him of being dumb and/or being cold. If there's one thing nobody can claim, it's that he's heartless.

He's not sure what prompted Jane being so damn down and somewhat angry, though. On one hand, he wants to know because he's worried about that chipper young lady. On the other...well, is it really his business?

So, the only thing he can think of to cheer her up is to invite her out for ice cream. So he does. By calling her up out of the blue and being like, "Hey, let's get ice cream. Meet me outside of Yutopil apartments and we can get this party started."

If anyone asks, it's not a date.

Still, he's hovering outside the apartment complex, waiting for Jane to come around.]

[Fucking fuck that is not a blush, okay. It's not. He refuses to think it is a blush from both the compliment and the neck ruff ruffle. No.]

I left very conflicted, we can pretty much sum it up like that.

Well. If you ever wanna vent about it, you can always hit me up.

[And there's the ice cream parlor!]

You wanna sit down or take a walk while we have ice cream?

I might vent for a moment. But I'm not really mad! Just extremely confused!

[Oh good!]

We can sit.

[He nods as he goes to open the door for her. Once they're inside, he grabs them a table and glances through the menu. Davesprite already knows what he wants, really.]

I'm all ears.

Dirk and Jake got into an argument. I got into a disagreement with Jake. But I didn't come away angry because he was acting so pitiful.

[They were also basically holding each other near the end there.]

I've heard a bit about Dirk and Jake's argument. Didn't know you had some friction, too.

[The waiter takes that time to swing by and take their orders. Davesprite was getting Oreo ice cream and everything was going to be delicious. He waits until Jane's done ordering and the dude walks away.]

So, where's the confusion? Not gonna ask for all the details 'cause I don't think a lotta that's my business.

[But Davesprite won't stop her if she tells him some of the deets.]

Well.

[She crosses a leg and gives him a look.]

Please. Don't repeat this because I would like to tell Dirk and Roxy what is going on myself. But, Jake kissed me. Twice, and then told me he thinks he loves me.

I don't know how to take this. It's strange hearing him say this. I thought he had no interest in me what so ever.

[That's when their ice cream arrives, and man. It's a good thing that happened. Otherwise, Davesprite's pretty sure his face would've met the table. Instead, he just rubs his forehead and takes a spoonful of ice cream.]

Christ. This kid keeps making shit worse for himself. Not gonna lie, Jane, I think you're in a pretty uncomfortable position right now. Scratch pretty, it's more that you're in a sea of discomfort or climbing Mount Uncomfortable.

[He's so not sure that she knows about Dirk and Jake. Hopefully she does because...Davesprite might have to uncomfortably break it to her and oh man. oh man.]

Did you know, ah, that Dirk and Jake broke up...?

[WELP, if she didn't know before, she knows now! Smooth, Davesprite. But whatever. She needs to know before people get hurt. Of all the Alpha kids, Davesprite expects that Jane knows the number 1 rule of break ups: don't go after your ex' best friend. Ever.]

[She takes a spoonful of ice cream and just dwells on what she told Davesprite. How was she supposed to deal with all of this. How was she supposed to trust herself or her emotions? How would she ever tell Dirk.<]

I'm climbing Mount Uncomfortable With This Entire Situation more quickly than I want to. [Hm, Dirk would have liked that little sentence there. She will please the irony and metaphor gods one day.]

If the kiss wasn't obvious enough that their relationship had come to an end. then I don't know what else would have been.

...Do you mind if I ask two personal questions? They're related to each other, so that's why I say that.

[Davesprite considers his next spoonful of ice cream, just looking thoughtfully at it.]

I'm not gonna tell you what you absolutely have to do. We're both better than that, and you're more than capable of reaching your own answer. I do want you to know that, whichever answer you come to, I won't judge you for it ever.

I don't mind at all, go ahead and ask what you need to ask.

[Jane takes a small bite.]

I don't know what answer I'm eventually going to come to. But I appreciate the promise to still be by my side, regardless.

Do you love the guy? And is he worth the possibility of ruining your friendship with Dirk, no matter how small the possibility is?

[He sighs softly. He doesn't want Dirk hurt by this, but Davesprite will stick to whatever decision Jane makes. Davesprite just needs to make sure he's there for ~~his brother~~ ~~his friend~~ him.]

I don't know what to call my feelings for him, Davesprite. Is it love, just want, the desire to not be alone? I don't really know what my exact feelings for him at all. I surely wouldn't want to ruin my friendship with Dirk.

But to me honesty is the best policy, and when Dirk shows back up. I'm going to have to tell him Jake and I kissed. I would feel entirely too guilty if I lied to him.

[Jane understands he wants to protect Dirk. But this is between Jane, Jake, and Dirk- no amount of comforting may help after the news is dropped.]

[Davesprite nods and takes another spoonful of ice cream.]

Well, I can't help you guys, as much as I'd like to. All I can do is be there after the ball drops. So, let's find a more cheerful subject to talk about, huh?

[He's so kind...]

It's alright. You know it's not your problem, but the fact that you want to be there for us is enough. [Hmmm.] How is your baking going?
