[Day 284] - Cooking Lessons
Who: Roxas and Davesprite
When: Wednesday Afternoon
Where: Yutopil 2-1
Style: Whichever
Status: Closed
[It's taken a little waiting, but at last Axel is out of the apartment. Roxas texts Davesprite that the coast is clear for his cooking lesson. It seems a little strange, inviting someone he's only just met over... Most of the time the apartment is just his and Axel's space. But, getting this right is important, so he'll take all the help he can get.
He's not sure where his new acquaintance is coming from--will he fly over?--but Roxas goes to wait near the door.]

When he arrives, he knocks on the door.]

Hey.
[The lack of legs earns him a glance, but not much more. He's like Genie.]
no subject
Yo. Where's your kitchen?
no subject
This way.
no subject
God, he hasn't made spaghetti sauce in a year and it's only now hitting him. What spices were even needed again???]
Okay, so you got any bottled pizza or tomato sauce? And where do you keep your spices?
no subject
[Roxas sweeps a doubtful gaze from the pantry to the fridge, not even sure where tomato sauce should be kept.
But the spices are in the pantry, he knows that much. Not that they have a huge variety, but he opens it up to show Davesprite.]

[Davesprite takes a look at what they've got, and rummages around, taking out what looks familiar. He's...pretty sure these are the spices needed. He brings them over to the counter.]
Y'all got a crockpot stashed around here? If not, no sweat. We can always use a regular pot. 'Cause what we wanna do first is mix up the spices and the sauce 'til it tastes good before putting in the cooked hamburger.
no subject
Um, the pots are in here. [Maybe one of them is a crockpot? He really doesn't know.]
no subject
[Raiding it, and...yes, good, there is a crockpot, everything is infinitely easier, now. Pulling it out to set on the counter with the spices and tomato sauce.]
Last thing we need's a frying pan for the meat.
no subject
I could go get some hamburger. It'd only take a minute.

[Roxas is already moving for the door. Not that he has any intention of walking, but he'd rather not open a portal in front of someone he just met. Better to do it in the hallway.]
no subject
[Davesprite's just gonna take a seat on one of the chairs.]
no subject
Is this good?
no subject
[Davesprite floats over to the crockpot and puts in the tomato sauce.]
So, first thing you put in are the Italian spices. You kinda make a mound about this high.
[He demonstrates.]
Think of it like your base spice flavor. Then you dust the Italian with some oregano, and dust the oregano with some garlic salt. [Adding those in. Now he's getting the groove!] Finally, you put in one half of a basil leaf crushed up. Basil's overpowering, so you just want a little of it to give it more substance.
[Davesprite grabs a spoon and stirs it all together.]
When you taste test it, if it tastes not quite right, chances are you need to add a little more Italian or garlic salt.
no subject
So- you kind of just add stuff until it tastes good.
[He peers into the pot. It smells good anyhow.]
no subject
[Davesprite takes a taste from the spoon and nods. He scoops out a tiny bit and hands the spoon to Roxas.]
Take a taste. This is what it's supposed to taste like, or something like it.
[And Roxas will never know that he was a nervous wreck about how hard he'd fail.]
no subject
This is good.
Where do you learn to do all this?
no subject
[Time to heat up the stove to cook up some hamburger.]
Did you have someone who could cook back home?
no subject
[And back to watching carefully, though he shakes his head at the question.]
Back home- we didn't eat meals a lot. Just snack food and stuff.
