_{[Five days.

Kimblee had five days to prepare for the plans he had in mind for the 24th and ensure that Vanitas was properly prepared for the weather on the island. He didn't even know if the teenager could even get sick but taking care of an ill person was something the alchemist didn't look forward to.

In an attempt to get the lesser half taken care of, Kimblee decided to drag Vanitas out to do a little shopping. Somewhere along the line the pair decided to take a break just outside of a bakery. For once, Kimblee decided to forgo the suit in favor of a white turtleneck and a pair of jeans, while Vanitas wore a hoodie and jeans. Who knew they could do casual?

After a moment, he reaches over to tug on a chain hanging from Vanitas' pants to grab his attention.]}

Remind me before we head back home to bring you to my usual store. They have a few coats you may like.

[ So there this guy was walkin' down the street, parasol a-twirlin', whistling some tune he probably heard a hundred years ago or something. There's a raised brow as he passes the pair though, lips in mid-whistle before they turn to some form of amused smirk. ]

My, don't the two of you make the most unorthodox pair...

[He felt the tug and paused to look at the hand then up to the other. He's starting to suspect that Kimblee was fine with the chain because it doubled as a leash.]

Aren't you the one with the memory? [He'll think about reminding the other in his own way. For now, they wound up with company of the "interesting" variety. Quirking a brow at the intruder before recognition finally clicked in.]

If you say so. [Just going to cross his arms against his chest. Nope, not even going to introduce them. They were big boys so they can manage on their own. This could be pretty interesting though.]

_{[Damn right he's fine with it. It's easier to keep track of him, too! Can't really escape that little jingle jangle sound, after all.]}

Unorthodox, hm? What makes you say that?

_{[He vaguely recognized the man from the curse during which he was stuck to Vanitas, but he can't place a name to the face. ...Probably because he never asked for it before, whoops.]}

[Did you know that critters typically hid away when they were sick or injured in order to protect themselves? Even if Vanitas did happen to get sick, he would probably just leave until he felt better. That and it would be bad if he contaminated the alchemist as well. He probably wouldn’t hear the end of getting Kimblee sick. That and maybe sharing the germs with one of his lesser “siblings” could be worth it.

He’ll stare at the hand connected to the chain before leveling a look to Kimblee.] I could get a matching leash if you prefer. [Might have had a note of sarcasm there. Normally he wouldn’t mind if they weren’t in public. He wasn’t afraid of people seeing this, he just didn’t want people to take advantage of the situation.

A nod towards the bakery was given.] Want something? [He’ll consider the whole reminding him about those jackets if they wind up close to Kimblee’s favorite store.

There was a bit of an inquiry though as he churned it over about that place.] …they aren’t taking my measurements.

[Roxas still has shopping to do before Christmas, although at this point it's mostly window-shopping trying to get ideas for the last few on his list. He has his coat on for once, thinking of visiting the island afterwards.

He pauses at the sight of the pair. He doesn't usually see Vanitas out and about with... anyone, and it's a surprise even if he knows he and Kimblee are friends. Add in the casual attire and the thought of a curse actually crosses his mind. They look so normal.

He's hesitant to approach, though. Most--well, all of his conversations with Vanitas turn to argument. He tries to return to his window-shopping, but he can't help glancing over.]

_{[Gosh Vani, if you got him sick he might actually die.

...Okay, he'd probably just bitch and moan forever because Vanitas pls.

The leash comment earns a slight smirk in response and he lets go to tuck his hands into his pockets.]} Don't I hold your leash enough the way it is? _{[He's just teasing, at least.]}

If you're getting something, surprise me. _{[A beat.]} They don't normally take measurements. ...Unless you'd like to pick out a suit while we're there?

[And the coat is pretty much what sealed the deal for Roxas getting pestered. As Vanitas turned to say something to Kimblee, he caught sight of all of that black. His eyes narrowed a fraction as he looked at “Blondie” carefully. The moment he caught him glancing over, he’ll flash a smirk before starting to head over.]

Who let you out without a babysitter? [He did look around for any sign of the redhead or the bouncing brunette.]

_{[Vanitas water u doin--Oh.

Oh. Kimblee arches an eyebrow at Vanitas, arms folded over his chest. He'll keep watch until he needs to step in if things take a turn for the worst. It's not stopping him from giving a small nod towards Roxas in greeting, though!]}

Afternoon, Roxas.

[Roxas returns Kimblee's nod first. Sorry, Vani, manners get you priority apparently. Plus it gives him a moment to figure out how to respond to that.]

Hey.

[And then his gaze shifts back to his facetwin. It's a remark he's made before, he's not going to let it get to him. Nope.]

Don't think you're in a position to talk about babysitters right now.

[He won't mourn if you die from a cold, butt.]

Only in private. [Sure was making that kind of joke in public.

He'll think it over before giving a nod. Do you really want him to surprise you with something? Now he'll have the fun little pondering of if he should get the messiest thing or the cutest thing for him.]

Suits aren't my thing. [And he doesn't want dumb locals touching him.]

Don't get lonely waiting for me. [It'll be quick anyways.]

_[Dweeb.]

Is that so? That's a shame; I think you'd look quite dashing in one.

_{[YEP FOREVER DISHING OUT THE COMPLIMENTS.]}

I'll write a poem while you're gone.

[He'll respond by just narrowing his eyes, but whether it's from being addressed last or Kimblee addressing the other at all was anyone's guess.

Certainly took his time to respond though.]

Not that it's any of your business but if you're referring to him [Pointing with his thumb to where Kimblee was without looking.] He would get grays pretty fast if he had to watch over me.

[Turning to look at his companion as he planted a hand on his hip as rubbed his chin in a thoughtful expression.] Speaking of grays... maybe you should think about dye.

[Congrats, Roxas. You have caught Vanitas in a great mood or at least where he'll aim his jokes else where.]

[Dork.]

Not like I need one to look dashing. [Pause.] They do seem to do wonders to your figure though.

[Just going to roll his eyes at the poem thing.] I'll be sure not to swoon too hard when you recite it then.

[Pushing the doors open and then vanishing inside.]

Maybe I should recommend you a good automail mechanic because you'll need one if you keep that up, Vanitas.

_{[Though his face mirrors his words, his tone betrays him. This is the healthiest friendship ever.]}

But he's right; I'm not much of a babysitter.

_[Urchin.]

_{[He flashes a grin before Vanitas disappears, then he heads over to one of the outdoor tables to take a seat and wait.]}

[It was a couple minutes before he came back with two square boxes and forks. Placing it in front of the other with a fork before he settled across from him. Kimblee was spared of cute and fluffy at least?

Opening his own box to start in on his cinnamon roll.]

[Roxas raises an eyebrow inquisitively at "automail" but he doesn't ask because, well, he doesn't like to have to ask too many questions around Vani.]

Neither are my friends. [If Kimblee's not a babysitter then neither is Axel. :| ~~But "boyfriend" might be acceptable now.~~]

...what're you guys up to?

And what exactly are you offering to replace? [Do you really want Vanitas getting interested in automail? A sword arm could be interesting but he still needed himself whole in order to form the death blade.

He was now curious if shadows could truly have friends, but then he did lump those connections in as weak. So that sounded about right where it belonged. Vanitas also wasn't sure what the alchemist would do in the event of a fight with keyblade users. He wasn't concerned or thinking he would get involved, but he was wondering if it would be fascinating or a waste of time for him. And wasting time used to not be received well from his old Master.

Another beat before he pointed again to Kimblee.] He likes dressing me up.

That depends, doesn't it? _{[But Vanitas you can be a giant weapon!!!! Like Archer!!

But then if part of Vanitas was replaced with automail, he would seriously dread getting smacked in the back because ow. He's had enough of scrapping with youngsters and automail for awhile, too. His poor array.

He scratches his cheek in thought.]} You're not exactly protesting any of it, Vanitas. Besides, the only thing I've dressed you up in is a few shirts. You really ought to expand your wardrobe a bit.

_{[He follows Vanitas' actions, giving an approving nod on the first bite.]}

Goodness, they're certainly better cooks than the places back home.

_{[THIS IS DAMN GOOD, BRO.]}

[He'll just watch that little exchange with interest. So this is how Vani does friends.

And oh, they're clothes shopping.]

At least you got him out of the skirt.

[It's definitely not his favorite outfit ever. All sorts of people he doesn't like wear it.]

[GOOD. He will be silently hoping you get sticky some where on your clothes while eating.

Though Vanitas is likely going to get messy first because another thinking a moment, he'll place his fork to the side and just pick the cinnamon roll up to take a big old bite.]

You could sweet talk the baker to get the recipe.

On what part I let close to you? [But X-blade!!! It's his twoo wuv!!!]

Could always get you your own skirt, blondie. [Checking him over.] I do know your size.

[They probably had holiday hula skirts available at the shops.]

You can expand my wardrobe whatever way you like if I can do the same to yours. [He's been in your closet, he knows what is in there, Kimblee. Not going to specify what he might add.]

I'd hate to ruin the surprise.

_{[And there's no hiding that horrible snort. He... hasn't heard someone call it a skirt yet. This is totally a first, and totally hilarious.]}

I'm not one for wearing skirts, I'm afraid. _{[He puts his hands into his pockets.]} Is this the first time you've seen him out of it?

_{[Gosh stop hoping for things to happ--yeah, there goes a little drop of icing onto his pants.

Which is prompting him to stare down at it for a moment.]}

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to set me up on a date with one of them just to get recipes.
