The people around him all seemed to be sulking or on edge about something, and while he didn't know the full extent of things a lot of it seemed to involve someone new showing up. Admittedly, he was feeling some disappointment since they hadn't moved yet. Then he had been cautioned about going out by himself. Fai was tired of sitting at home since he'd grown comfortable venturing around the bubble by himself. It had been a slow process and he wasn't about to halt his progress even more by remaining in their apartment.

And so it happened that he managed to slip out the building and return to a place that was quickly becoming his favorite- the library. Those who found him there would likely see him climbing shelves to reach for books he probably should have asked for help with, or sitting amidst his new book fort that consisted mostly of basic books on magic from several worlds.

[Sola had seen the smaller Fai around the apartment, even spoke maybe a word to him once or twice in passing, but the two had never had much of a conversation. Sola spent most of his time holed up in Johnny's room with him or out and about doing errands for the locals and the occasional foreigner. Which is what he's doing now, coming back from delivering groceries to one of the many cafes that dot Vatheon. He catches sight of the shock of blond hair as he makes his way up the street.]

Little Fai? Where are you going?

[Should he be out by himself...?]

[Fai still hadn't found himself opening up to Sola. The boy didn't know much about the other so he found him confusing. Sola usually acted like an adult (and more or less looked like one) but sometimes he did things that made him seem a lot closer to Fai's age. Then again, all the adults in that apartment had their childish moments.

He didn't think the Hylian would be out, given how Johnny had been acting lately, and therefor wasn't expecting to be caught. Was that the right word? He certainly does feel like he's been caught. It's why he jumps when Sola says his name and feels himself trying to look smaller.]

Um... I'm going to the library.

[It had taken some effort to get himself out of Johnny's protective embrace. He's rarely gone long these days, he understands Barry's out to get them and has quite a healthy fear of the demon, but he does need to go get food for those in the apartment that don't subsist on blood, not to mention fresh air.]

Do you want some company?

[He'd rather hurry home but with Barry lurking around he doesn't feel he can leave bitty!Fai to walk around unprotected.]

[He doesn't want to lie, but he's not terribly keen on Sola coming with him. It wasn't from lack of trust or need to be alone. He knows that it would be better for him to return to the apartment now and Sola will probably encourage him to do so.

But it was beginning to feel too much like he was being locked away again. Fai just wanted a little time in a place that was big but felt small in a comforting way. After a while he nods weakly.]

I'm okay with it.

[A small smile crosses Sola's face at Fai's affirmative.]

Oh, good, thanks.

[The smile turns a little sheepish.]

Not that I'm trying to run away or anything but it can get a little cooped up at home, you know? Johnny's been really...

[Not clingy... He understands the need to keep people close. Hell, there's a part of him that wants to never leave Johnny's side either, to make sure they're both out of harm's way himself, but... well it gets just a tiny bit smothering when he's scared enough that the vampire doesn't let him more than a hand's breadth away at any given time if he can help it.]

..yeah. Anyway, what are you looking for in the library?

[So he's not the only one feeling a little caged. Fai starts back on his way toward the library, eyes looking a little more at his feet than before.]

Yes, I know. I'm just looking for something new to read.

[But he gets the impression that Sola might be willing to actually talk to him instead of omit things or try to change the subject like other people he knows.]

Sola... what's really going on right now?

U-um... I don't...

[Johnny had said not to scare little Fai. He wants to tell him, even if just to be careful, especially alone, but he'd told Johnny he wouldn't.]

...I'm sorry, I can't say.

[Getting in trouble with Johnny is the very last thing he wants to do right now. Sorry little Fai. Subject change!]

But, um! What kind of books do you read? I like ones with pictures 'cause I can't really read very good. Especially if they're about adventures or something.

[Fai sighs. Can't say he's surprised by Sola's reaction. It's more like a blend of frustration and sadness. Why didn't the adults ever tell him anything? It's not like he's entirely innocent, considering the things he'd seen before he came here. And couldn't it be even more dangerous for him to not know what's happening?

Gosh, that sure is a subject change. How effective would not saying anything show his disappointment? Probably not much.]

Almost anything as long as it's not too hard. I like reading about things I want to try, like gardening.

Gardening? I love gardening!

[Sola's ears perk up and he smiles brightly.]

Psii and I planted a garden awhile ago when I used to live with them. We planted all kinds of flowers and things so Psii's bees could make different flavors of honey! 'Cause different' flowers taste different, did you know that? It's really neat. Maybe when we move we can have a really big garden and we can plant everything, even food!

Wallaca was still exploring the vast expanse of Vatheon and the library sounded like a place of interest to visit. He was still going to enquire about perhaps placing his art within an art gallery. The library would be the closest step to that possibly. Maybe one of the librarians could point him in the right direction?

He walked towards the building when he saw Fai. His freind. Or....had he gotten smaller and younger since last? Was this perhaps a relative of Fai's? He approached the boy with a smile.

"Greetings. Are you on your way to the library?"

Being approached by strangers is still something he's mildly uncomfortable with, even when that person is wearing a smile. Still, the boy knows he needs to work on his trust problems with other people. And at least this is all happening in the middle of the day.

"That's right," is all the answer Fai gives, accompanied by a nod.

Wallace smiled down at the boy. "It's my first time here at the library since I've not explored Vatheon properly yet. I'm still finding new things out about the place. "May I ask your name? I don't think we've met before." He did look like Fai though. A cousin or nephew perhaps?

He doesn't understand why adults think he's cute

Fai wondered how long the other had been around. Wallace seemed a lot more outgoing than he was, so it couldn't have been very long, right? He won't return the man's smile, but he's not backing away either. Maybe this person really is just trying to get the hang of things.

"It's Fai." The similarity sure is striking, aside from the age difference and the blue eyes. It doesn't help that they're sharing a name now too.

"Fai? I know someone else who goes by that name. Although, he is larger and older than yourself." Wallace smiled then frowned. Could it be that this boy shared the same name with the man he knew? Curious.

"Are you a relative of another Fai D. Flourite?"

Ah, so this was his motivation. Yet another case of mistaken identity. He really does need to talk to Yuui about this; even if they continue to share his name, they should probably tell people that there's two of them.

"He's my brother. He's bigger because he's from the future. But my name's just Fai."

"Oh, I see. Your older brother. That would make sense." He nodded. "Then it is nice to meet you, little Fai." He went to hold out a hand to the boy. Wallace was finding him to be rather cute.

Gosh I don't think that'd be as much fun

Well, he's the older bother here, at least. "How do you know him?"

This is an important question and the main reason why Fai is staring at Wallace's hand instead of taking it. He may look the same as his brother but his disposition is obviously less friendly and outgoing when he meets people.

Ib had always liked libraries, and this one had a whole lot of books she'd never seen before...although, there were some she couldn't read at all, but that was okay. She was learning.

Libraries were never, particularly, exciting in the sense other people might consider exciting, so she certainly wasn't expecting to turn the corner and see a boy close to her age climbing the bookshelves. She stared at him a moment before speaking up, calm as ever.

"You'll fall if you're not careful."

"Huh?" Usually people just ignore him in the library, so hearing a voice (especially a young girl's) was enough to startle him and cause his footing to slip.

It wasn't a terribly long fall but landing on his rump was uncomfortable and extremely embarrassing. And then that book he was reaching for fell, smacked him right on the head, then landed in his lap. Double embarrassment. Fai can feel his face turning red as he rubs the top of his head.

"Ow..."

Whoops. That wasn't what Ib had been expecting. Her eyes went wide a moment and she stepped closer...so she could offer him her hand. At the very least, she didn't laugh; that looked like it had hurt.

"I'm sorry. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," he says, picking himself up as well as his sought for book. "There's nothing to be sorry about." Fai didn't mean to be rude by not taking her hand, he just has a lot of trust issues with people and touching is definitely part of it. He is extremely grateful that Ib didn't laugh at him but things are still kind of... awkward. How is he supposed to act around other kids? Fai has no idea.

She wasn't too bothered by it, some people didn't like to be touched. She put her hands behind her back and cocked her head at him.
"What book did you get?"

He glances at the book one more time. The boy can't even remember how he got referred to this thing. Fai doesn't really want to talk about his interest in magic but he hopes she won't go talking about it to everyone.

"Um... it's about things that can be used to cast magic, I think. It's not from my world, but it still sounds neat."

She looks surprised a moment but then thoughtful. Before she would have said magic wasn't real, but after the gallery and then arriving here...was it possible people could use it, though? Like people sometimes did in the books she liked to read?

"Magic's cool." Although..."Magic can also be scary...but if you like it, that's all that matters."

"It's all about how people decide to use it."

He'd never had the chance to learn any magic, but considering how he was treated in his home world he'd never think of using his magic to harm others unless they did or were doing something bad. Fai doesn't want people to be afraid of him or what he can do.

"I like the kind that helps people."
