Fishing~

When: Today, all day.
Where: Up on the beach at the island!

[It had been a while since he had gone to do it… so today was the day. Bright and early, Ryu grabbed his fishing pole and some bobbers and a bag and headed up to the island. Once there, he looked around the beach and headed over to a spot that looked good, casting his line out.]

[As the day goes on, the pile of fish in his bag grows bigger. There's mostly just little ones, but there's a few big ones too! At around midday he cooks a few for dinner, and then in the evening he's slowly nodding off with his fishing pole in his hands, the embers of his campfire glowing near him.]

[What do, Vatheon?]

[ Sophie hadn't really gone up to the top of the island before - this would actually be the first time. However, there had been a butterfly in her garden, and the sight fascinated her so that she wandered after it when it left. She left off her butterfly investigation when she spied Ryu, however. She's gonna head on over to where he's fishing there. ]

Afternoon!

[In Squall's world, Balamb Town was world renowned for its fishing. So when he sees a person casting a line out into the sea, he's reminded of his world. He approaches the stranger.]

That's a lot of fish you have there.

[Kurow decided that, today, he would explore beyond the city's interior and head up and outside to the island. Upon reaching the surface, he felt an invisible burden lifting from his shoulders -- true fresh air, at last! -- and sighed contentedly.

Floating on over toward the beach, he soon spots Ryu and approaches, curious. His gaze travels to the pile of fish in the man's bag, and once Kurow is close enough, he remarks,]

Dude, that's a lot of fish. You gonna eat all that?

[When he finally ends up taking his weekly walk up on the island, it's the pile of fish that draws him near. He tilts his head, blinking at this, before tucking his hands into his pockets and stepping closer.]

You're good at this.

[amnesiadragon]

[He turns when he hears footsteps, and waves to her.]

Hi!

[amnesiadragon]

[He grins at that. It definitely is!]

Yep! I thought I'd eat some of them, and maybe I could sell some of the extra.

[amnesiadragon]

[He looks over at Kurow, grinning.]

Most of it. I'll sell the extra if no one else wants it.

[amnesiadragon]

[Eee, compliments. It's nice. |3 But he nods.]

I've had a lot of practice. Do you fish?

[ She smiles and returns the wave. When she reaches him however, she crouches a little. ]

What are you doing, Ryu?

[lunaria]

[Kurow tips his head to the side, watching Ryu. The wording is a little peculiar there.]

To the locals? You're not one of them, are you?

[Well, this guy is certainly putting his talents to practical use.]

You fish a lot?

[amnesiadragon]

I'm fishing! I haven't done it in a while, so I thought it'd be fun.

[And - oh! There's a bite! He reels in the line, not too slowly but careful of when the fish is tugging. The line comes in and - aha! A wriggling fish, silvery and bright. He grabs the fish and carefully tugs out the hook, before tossing it on the pile.]

[A blink.]

Ah...I never have before, no...

[amnesiadragon]

Yeah, I do. It's one of my favorite things to do. Do you fish?

[amnesiadragon]

Yeah, to the locals. I'm not from here, no.

[amnesiadragon]

Do you want to try?

[He's always up for teaching people how to fish!]

[Well, far be it from him to say no.

So he shrugs.]

Sure.

[And steps closer and--where does he even start, oh, taking his hands out of his pockets might help.]

[amnesiadragon]

[Ryu reels in the line and hands the fishing rod over to Minato.]

Just sort of gently flick it out onto the water. After that, jiggle it slowly to some kind of rhythm to attract fish. When the bobber goes down, reel it in, but not too fast or else you might break the line. That's it, really.

I don't. But I lived near a town famous for its fishing.

[ She's not really sure she has any concept of 'fun' exactly - at least not the way normal people define it. She watches the fish being reeled in, then the pile. ]

How long is a while?

Oh, so you're selling them for tokens. Then you're gonna buy all kinds of stuff in the lower district, right?

A couple of weeks. Do you like fishing, Sophie?

[Let him introduce you to the ~magic~ of fishing.]

Oh, really? That's neat. I'd like to live in a place like that.

Mhm! I'm not very good at healing myself, so I thought I'd buy some things to help with that.

[They say fishing is relaxing. Squall doesn't have the time for it, but hey, maybe he can afford to spend a few minutes talking about it.]

There's a famous fish where I come from. It supposedly has a phenomenal taste and is considered one of the great delicacies of the world.

There's also another fish that's extremely similar to it. It supposedly has a terrible taste and has been known to make people sick.
