☠A Drunken Brawler Swimmin' At Sea

Who: Captain Johnny Sfondi of the Jellyfish Pirates & YOU!

A loud tired groan echoed throughout the desolate plaza when then sleeping man began to stir. After hours succumbed in a trance-like sleep, Johnny finally opened his eyes to find himself in a world of endless blue. While the blue void before him seemed quite familiar, Johnny couldn't quite figure out where he seen this horizon before. Completely drenched from head to toe, the debonair sky pirate slowly pushed himself off the ground. "What the Sam Hill is this...?" He grumbled as he glanced about wildly. "Am I'm drunk again? Nah, even when drunk I can't dream up some crap like this." Idly studying his surroundings with both surprise and intrigue, Johnny paused suddenly once he spotted a large fish flying over the dome.

"...I'll be damned." He muttered in pure shock. "I'm back in the fish bowl again?!" An angry roar escaped him as he tossed down his hat an stomped on it in a fit of pure rage. "The hell!? Why the hell am I back here?!" Johnny cursed as he snatched his hat up from the ground. "I thought I escaped this lil' looney town! Yeah, I did. I escaped only to be lured back here by the same damn bait."

Now dusting his hat off, the pirate let out a deep sigh as he placed it back on his head. "Man, this isn't lookin' good."

[Johnny had seen the fit of anger from the roof of a nearby building and listened in on the man's 'plight;' it was actually pretty amusing. So, this was one of those people who left for a while and then came back. Interesting.

The vampire dissolved into a swarm of bats and reformed on the ground. Wasting no time, Johnny waltzed up to the new-comer.]

you know...it's really not as bad as you make it out to be~~ I'd ask if you were new, but it sounds like you've been here before~~

[Hands went to hips barely covered by the pants hanging off them, as the vampire surveyed the man. At least the guy was a looker.]

What the--!

[ Before Rayflo could even blink, Johnny already had his katana unsheathed and pointed at the vampire's throat. He couldn't possibly see the vicious glare Johnny was giving him from behind those dark shades, but he probably could feel it. ]

Just who the heck are you, buddy-boy?

[ He asked in a low and threatening tone that hid his amiable nature. ]

Better answer quick. I kinda got itchy trigger finger here, ya see.

[Johnny's smile didn't even twitch. He didn't have his sword on him, but he knew he could fly away if he needed to. Besides...in this place, death didn't stick, if this guy cut his head off, it wouldn't really matter in the end.]

I'm called Johnny Rayflo. As I assume you know, you're in Vatheon, the bubble under the sea~

It's a pleasure to meet you~~

[ Now realizing that this fellow here doesn't mean him any harm, Sfondi quickly lowers his blade and gives the other Johnny a steely gaze from behind his dark shades. He isn't the type of guy to blindly trust anyone, but he does know when to sheath his sword. ]

Nice name.

[ He commented as lopsided grin formed on his handsome face. ]

It seems the name "Johnny" is a tad popular these days.

[Johnny's smirk widened a bit and he winked.]

Oh, well, it's a good name. Almost all 'Johnnys' are attractive men; it's good to know the trend continues~

Soo~ Johnny~ How long's it been since you were here last~?

Makes a heck of a lot of sense if you ask me.

[ He replied as he tipped his hat towards the other man. ]

It's a damn good name, so of course we all gotta look the part.

[ In a much better mood than earlier, Sfondi just sighs once that question was asked. Uncertain as to how he even arrived here in Vatheon the first time, Johnny wasn't quite sure he remembered how long ago it has been since he last appeared in Vatheon. ]

I don't really know. It was a brief stay though.

[Johnny's smile widened and turned more genuine with the man's improved mood.]

Aaah, well, that's alright~ I doubt much has changed, this place doesn't seem to change too often. Well...except the coral's acting a little strange...but it hasn't affected anything yet, it seems.

[ The sky pirate lowered his shades once Rayflo mentioned the coral. ]

Somethin' a matter with it?

[ He asked with a slightly worried gleam in his bright blue eyes. ]

That's no good. I remember when that happened before...that's no good.

[The vampire shrugged.]

We're not entirely sure. It just seems like it's power is fluctuating, yet nothing else seems to be affected.

It's got a lot of people really worried. So worried they're thinking about moving up to the island.

[Which was still a terrible idea in Johnny's opinion.]

An island?

[ A lone blond eyebrow arched up over the dark rim of his sunglasses. ]

What's all this about an island? So that's what you guys found after the ghost pirate attack?

Ghost...pirate...

[Have an equally confused look. Wasn't that, like, ages ago?]

I...get the feeling you've missed quite a bit, handsome. The Ghost Pirates was long before my time and I've been here almost a year.

There's an island on the surface, over the bubble. That elevator over there takes you to it.

[ Now that the two of them are thoroughly confused, Johnny let out a deep exaggerated sigh. ]

I suppose none of that even matters anymore. That was then and this is now, right?

[ He grins at the "handsome" part. Finally, someone who acknowledges his superior looks. Johnny's two seconds away from bragging. ]

An elevator, eh? That's really handy but I wonder why no one found it until now.

['Live in the now' Johnny can definitely get behind that one.]

Well...as far as I understand it, I was told it was built. 'How' I don't really know...but when it was finished, it took people up to an island.

[Of course, he doesn't trust the island, but whatever.]

Meh, I'm a guessin' this is all apart of that dumbass experiment, right?

[ A little less eager to head up to the island, Johnny shrugged his shoulders and frowned. ]

Whatever! I don't have time to worry about crap like that. In any case, point me to nearest bar!

[ He's all smiles again. ]

All this talkin' made me a lil parched. Hope ya don't mind buying a few drinks.

'Buying' Sure, why not? [He winks and nods in the direction of Otoha's bar.]

I have a friend who runs a bar just over there. I run a tavern myself, but it's further away in the Lower District~

From a distance, all Ky could tell about the figure was that they seemed rather upset. As he drew closer, however, the coat and hat took on a certain familiarity. It wasn't impossible, Ky supposed -- he knew a number of people who had said they knew people who came from their world, and certainly Sol and Dizzy were both here -- but it was more than a little unexpected. He supposed that Zelda would be pleased that new arrivals came when they were expected, even if the coral's power was still doing a number of worrying things.

Ky let his concern focus almost entirely on the man he saw now, coming up closer to him. He could make out words, now, but they didn't seem to make all that much sense. So Ky focused on an earnest expression instead, and spoke as soon as he had the opportunity. "Johnny. I... Welcome to Vatheon. That's what this place is called."

Jolted out of his slightly jumbled thoughts, Johnny turned to face the one who greeted him with a look of raw surprise. "Ky?" Behind the shadow of his sunglasses, Johnny couldn't help but blink wildly. "That's really you, isn't it?" Disbelief settled on the sky pirate's face but it was soon washed away by a characteristic grin. "I'll be damned! You managed to find your way into this lil oasis, huh? I'm kinda shocked." Not sure what to think about this sudden change in events, Johnny felt somewhat relieved to know he wouldn't be left to his own devices again. Having someone from his neck of the woods certainly helps improve his odds here in this bizarre town.

With his wide grin fading into more of a reserved smile, Johnny pelted Ky with a truckload of questions. "How did you get here?" He asked. "Or rather, when didya get here? I swear, this place likes to play tricks on people. The last damn thing I remember was goin' back home and huntin' for Dizzy again."

Ky blinked back in surprise, although his confusion was completely evident on his face. That was a bit of a strange way for Johnny to be greeting him, wasn't it? Almost like Ky was the one who had just arrived... But he was quite certain that he hadn't. Going back home? Did that mean that Johnny had been here before? It was possible, with the way that this place worked. No one had mentioned him to Ky, but Ky supposed that there wasn't an obvious connection between them that would make people do so. People came and went all the time.

"Six months ago, as far as time here goes." Ky tried to meet Johnny's smile with one of his own, but he felt a bit too confused for that to work the way that he intended it. "I take it you were here sometime before that, somehow? Speaking of Dizzy, she and Sol are both here as well. Dizzy is on the Welcoming Committee, so perhaps you'll run across her soon."

The confusion that marred Ky's face alerted Johnny a bit. Why was the other staring at him as if he gone absolutely bat-shit? He frowned in return. "Dizzy is here?!" Johnny's incredulous tone gives away his disbelief. "But how? Listen up, hombre. The last I seen of her was sailin' off the side of my ship thanks to that damned witch." Now grumbling to himself as he recalled the entire series of events, Johnny found himself with more questions to ask Ky.

"Well, can I see her now?" He asked in mild hopefulness. "I've been worried sick about the girl and now she shows up here all of a sudden. Right weird, ain't it? But I'm not complain'." Considering all the hell Dizzy was put through so far, it soothed Johnny's mind to know that she's no longer in danger. So many people were intent on hunting her down solely because of her power. Dizzy is probably the most powerful Gear in existence at this point, only second to her vile mother.

"She arrived about a month after I did. So yes, she's here, and she's fine." Ky rather thought that Dizzy was doing rather well in this place, as far as he'd been able to tell from their interactions. Which were, to his delight, not infrequent. "I'm certain that she'll be happy to see you as well. If you'd like, I can call her on the SFC and see if she's not busy right now. Or you can, of course."

Ky favored Johnny with a slight smile, now that he had sorted the situation into something that made a little more sense to him. Ky didn't always know quite what to do with Johnny, but the other man was certainly an ally, as well as someone that Ky respected. While he wouldn't wish anyone to be taken away from their obligations to be here, certainly he had a better idea of what he should say to Johnny than to, for example, Sol. (Not that Ky didn't know what he wanted to say to Sol, but Sol never wanted to hear it.)

A chipper smile settled on the pirate's face as he listened to Ky. "So Dizzy is safe and sound at last, huh?" Johnny commented with a slight nod. "That's right good. I was worried that the poor girl got carted off somewhere. Ya know, she still has a pretty penny of a bounty on her head. How much was it again? Around five hundred thousand at this point?" He shook his head in disbelief. "Can't figure out why anyone would hate the poor girl so much, but I wasn't about to let anyone hurt her."

Feeling somewhat grateful for the Lamufao's surprising but welcomed interference in this little story, Johnny turned and tipped his hat towards it in a gesture of gratitude. "Eh? Ya mean to give her call?" Johnny blinked as he turned to Ky again. "Sure thing! Give her a call! Tell her that I'm still alive and kicking."

"Her status is a complicated issue, to be certain. Or was, here she's just another of the abductees. Still, I don't trust this place, and it's better to live warily and know where the threat is coming from than to be lulled into a false state of relaxation." Talking to Johnny made it strike home just how long Ky had been here, though, six months. And six months without any sort of real threat, just glimpses under the surface. The scientist who had told Zelda that she expected them to be heroes. The intermittent curses. The weakening of the coral. That was assuming that they didn't tear each other apart before anything significant happened. No, it was quite clear that Ky couldn't relax. Which wasn't good, because there not being the sense of a threat would be better, but at least Ky knew how to be on guard.

He brought his SFC up to leave a message with Dizzy, then, taking a step back not so much because what he had to say was private but because it seemed the polite thing to do. When he had finished, he nodded back at Johnny. "I let her know, so I imagine that she'll be by. Did you mean, with the worry that she'd been carted off, that our absences have been noted?" That was plenty of reason to tense up, since Ky had let assurances from other people that they would return at a similar time to when they left soothe a little the thought that he had a duty to perform.

While listening to every word that Ky said, Johnny found himself agreeing with everything said. Dizzy was no longer in danger here but danger still lurks at every corner. No one knows why the scientists want them here in Vatheon and no one knows a thing about the mysterious Lamufao. Everything that he remembered about Vatheon was still intact but be damned if his previous encounters here sparked anything useful. Still as clueless as he was when he first arrived here, Johnny couldn't quite wash the distaste he feels. However, if Dizzy is safer here than at home, then what really matters at this point? It's just a right shame that his entire crew is probably stuck somewhere looking for them.

"Well, you certainly know how to make a point." Johnny murmured as he began to dust off his hat some more. "No, I didn't quite mean what I said like that but you can kinda guess there is a certain 'someone' who would love to cart poor Dizzy away." That someone being that sick freak of a scientist, Crow, and that red-clad she devil. "But as long as those unsavory fellas aren't here, I suppose the little maiden is safe." At least safe for now, he meant.

"Ah, that. Of course." Ky inclined his head, trying to muster a formal atmosphere, while relief surged in him at the thought that at least as far as Johnny knew, Ky had not been absent from his duty. But being formal could be more than a little difficult when it came to matters which concerned Dizzy. At least his worry about her could rest a little now that she'd have Johnny now, too, in order to help if anything came up. As well as for emotional support, even if it meant that she might spend less time with Ky. Which was a fine thing, of course, it could allow him to put more time into his Defense Force work, as well the idea of creating some kind of judicial system here. He would certainly be able to find ways to fill his time.

"Yes, so far she's been safe here, and been able to make some friends. Certainly not under the sort of danger that she's been subject to the past." Ky gave Johnny just a moment to take that in before he shifted to a more serious demeanor. "Have you given any thought to how you're going to spend most of your free time while you're here in Vatheon?"

Despite how surly Johnny can be at times, the sky pirate doesn't plan to get in-between these two love birds. He'll keep his eye on Dizzy but he wouldn't dare invade their relationship. Whatever happens between the two is up to them but Johnny will be around to give advice if needed. Other than that, he'll be keeping a watchful on Dizzy much like a father would for a daughter. "You don't have any idea how glad I am to hear it." He replied with a wide smirk. "That girl deserves the world, Kiske. She most certainly does."

Pleased to know that all's well between them, Johnny arched his brow at Ky's sudden change of topic. "E-Eh?" He blinked his eyes owlishly behind his thick black shades. "Err, well no? I mean I just got back. I was thinkin' about hittin' a bar later but I got a feeling ya not talkin' about stuff like that." Wondering what sort of plan Ky was trying to rope him in now, Johnny wandered over towards a nearby street bench and relaxed.

"Out with it, Ky!" He yelled. "What's on ya mind?"

Ky nodded his agreement with Johnny's assessment of Dizzy. She most certainly did deserve better than she'd received in the past, and if she could get some of it here, while the peace lasted, then that would be a good thing. Ky certainly...was trying very hard to avoid thinking in terms of any sort of relationship between himself and Dizzy. She deserved friendship, and someone who would be willing to put her first, and that was certainly what he intended to do.

"Not talking about hitting a bar, no." Ky continued to stand, shifting towards where Johnny had moved to but not himself relaxing at all. "I don't know if it was around when you were here before, but there's a Defense Force in Vatheon. It's a protection unit of sort that strives to maintain order should anything happen here, and there have been a couple of stirrings lately that make it seem more necessary than usual. It needn't be a very large time investment, if you wanted to participate."

Ky was attempting his most earnest face, the one that failed so miserably on Sol. Well. At least Johnny gave him more to respond to than just a grunt.

Fai just watched this all play out with an amused look on his face. He gave the man time to understand his surroundings before finally walking up. He had to admit, he was curious about the newcomer whom had apparently been here once before. He walked up behind him rather soundlessly, which is surprising for the outgoing vampire. But the man was so distracted in his own unhappiness at being in the fish bowl that Fai almost doubted he would have heard him regardless of how loud his approach had been.

"I'm not sure I've heard anyone call it a fish bowl before..but that is a pretty good description of it."

A chipper laugh was Fai's response at first as the pirate started to wring the water out of his hair. Smiling at the other blond from ear to ear, Johnny winked at him. "Well of course it is. Just look at this place, buddy-boy. Looks like one giant fish bowl to me." Another merry laugh follows. "But doesn't that imply that we're the fishies here? I don't know about you but I'm no fish. I'm more like a bird or an eagle rather than some scrawny fish." Well, Fai could probably figure out that Johnny isn't a big fan of being seafood.

"So tell me." Deflecting the conversation off him for a moment, Johnny decides to pin the blond with some much needed questions. "Why am I back here, hm? Whatcha people want with me? I ain't nothin' any of ya want unless you want to just admire me for my handsome visage." Such a ham, isn't he?

Fai liked this guy. Fai usually wasn't one for first impressions, but he could see himself getting along rather well with this cheerful man. He stopped next to him and looked up at the fish bowl. "If we are comparing to animals, then I want to be a cat! But a cat probably wouldn't like being in a fish bowl very much."

Fai finally decided to answer the man's questions..or well, attempt to at least. "I actually don't know why you are back. I don't have anything to do with those decisions. But maybe it is as you say! Maybe they felt lonely without you around!"

If there's one thing Johnny is rather good, it's being cheerful. Despite how surly and uncouth the sky pirate might seem, Johnny's amiable demeanor is absolutely genuine. You won't find any nervous smiles here or apprehensive stares. The esteemed Captain of the Jellyfish Pirates doesn't have time for all that. Life is short and what's the point of wasting a single minute frowning about something? That's Johnny's motto in a nutshell. "You wanna be cat?" A goofy smirk settled on his lips once he heard that. "Then I would have to adopt ya and show you off to Janis. She's my pet kitty, ya see. A real sweetheart, I gotta say. You and her would get along fine." It should be quite obvious that Johnny here is a bit of a cat lover but that's straying off topic.

"Aw shucks! Ya mean to say that Lamufao has feelings, compadre?" The dashing pirate couldn't help but roll his eyes at that. "Now I kinda feel a little bad for kickin' it the last time I was here." A soft sigh escaped him. "But seriously, if that's the reason...then maybe I have some sort of purpose to fulfill or somethin' of the sort." Trying his best to desperately make sense of all this nonsense, Johnny glanced over his shoulder to stare at the glowing coral reef in mild disdain.

"...Ya know." He began. "I wonder how long I'm gonna stay time. It's kinda hard to clip a bird's wings."

"Ah! You have a cat? I've never owned any pets. You're very lucky!" Fai walked up to the reef and looked up at it. He wasn't sure if there was some main purpose for all of them being here, or why it chose to bring some people back but Fai wished someone was able to find out.

"How long were you here the last time? Do you know how long you've been gone?" The vampire looked over his shoulder to watch the other man. He could understand how some people might get restless in the bubble. That was one reason he had decided to take on so many jobs. To keep himself distracted and busy.

A slight frown settled on Johnny's face as he thinks. "Not really sure, buddy. It must've been a while ago, especially since it feels like it's been ages since I was last here." Stroking his chin all scholarly like, a smile suddenly appeared over the frown. "But what does it matter, huh? I'm here again and this time I don't think the Lamufao is keen about lettin' me go." He gave the glowing coral reef a brief glance when he said that. Honestly, he still doesn't know what to think about that weird looking thing.

Fai turned back around and gave a nod, "You just have to enjoy your second time here as best you can! Maybe it believed you needed a little vacation from your world. Were you very busy back there?"

Fai moved away from the reef, not wanting to make the man have to look at it if he didn't want to.

After receiving a message from Ky, Dizzy rushed to the plaza. Johnny was here... The thought made her incredibly happy and she couldn't wait to finally see the pirate again.

As she reached the plaza, she looked around, searching for Johnny. She spotted him pretty quickly and smiled happily, approaching him.

"You're really here...!" she exclaimed as she walked up him.
