Where: a brand new shop on the north-east side of the plaza. The large sign over the storefront reads:

Kanaya Maryams Storefront For Commissioned Ragripping And Seamstressing
With Display Space For Artistic Clothing Creations

When: Boy, this store keeps odd hours! A small sign on the door says this business opens an hour after sundown on the surface, and closes an hour before dawn.
Who: Kanaya Maryam and anybody who's interested in her shop.
Style: I'll follow your lead.
Status: Open to the public during posted business hours, closed all other times. :P

Kanaya's shop is now open for business! The new sign was just installed, and with the hours now posted on the door she can finally flip the "Sorry But The Proprietor Of This Establishment Is Not Currently Present" sign over to it's much simpler "Welcome" side.

It's not perfect, not yet. She's only just getting started. In the picture window out front stands three naked dressforms. The interior is clean, but very bare. A simple counter stands near the back of the small shop space, next to a doorway leading to the workshop. There are no products on display here, not yet. Large amounts of colorful fabrics have been hung in the shop space, breaking up the monotony of white walls and shelves.

A single bell chimes when the door is opened, summoning the proud owner of this workshop and boutique.

[ Feferi eventually meanders her way into the back room after getting a good look at the empty storefront. ]

Oh wow! So how did all this happen?

[Kanaya quickly uses a knife to slice the tape of the box, opening the lid.]

Well, You know how the locals will give us free food, drink, and housing if we show them our symbols? I haven't been using any of that, so instead I asked them for a workspace that I could use to get back into my old hobby. I've also been getting fabrics and other supplies, and I just got this...

[And as she says "this", she lifts it out of the box, packing peanuts flying everywhere. It's a rather nice brand new sewing machine. She places it on a table that has three different lamps on it, in addition to n overhead light hanging from the ceiling.]

[ Ooh, a shiny thing! Feferi just sort of gapes at it for a second, she's never seen one before... ]

That is so cool! I wish I had one of those things.

[ Hopefully, Kanaya has thus far not taken a close look at some of the Pisces-symbol patches sewn onto Feferi's shirts. She did get the job done, but not in the most efficient of ways... which is to say she sort of made a mess. ]

I think it is rather interesting as well. It's very different from the machine I had on Alternia, but I'm looking forward to getting used to it. I looks like a more contained designed, so I think there's less chance of mangling one's hands in the machinery.

[Kanaya noticed right away, back in their first meeting after she arrived. It's just kind of a thing she does. However, she hasn't said anything about it at all. At least, not yet.]

...did that really ever happen?

[ Shh don't judge her. ]

Not to me. I'm very precise with my equipment. It was a distinct possibility though. Safety was not what it was built for.

[Kanaya quickly finishes setting up the machine, plugging in a foot pedal and setting it on the floor beneath the table. ]

So what brings you to my little shop?

[ Feferi shrugs, watching the machine as it's set up. ]

I saw the sign, I couldn't not come in and say hello, right?

Ahh. It's been pretty quiet in here so far for the most part. I think I'll be gathering more interest once I start creating again and actually have some things on display in the window. I've been learning a lot about fashion from the various alien races here and there's a lot I would like to try out now. I've already got a few commissions that I need to get started on too.

That's exciting! Are you excited?? Either way, I am excited for you!

[ Oh no, look what you've done now. ]

[Oh No. Kanaya's seen this before.]

Yes, I am rather excited about this. I mean, I don't know if you could really call them commissions, more like personal projects. I'm making some nice things for Nepeta and this lovely woman I met named Zelda. I hope to work on those to help me get back into practice with this sort of thing. It's been a while since I had the time to do any ragripping.

[Kanaya is not very good at choosing things to say to calm down an excited princess, it seems. ]

Maybe I could save up and commission you sometime! So what are you working on, do you have designs yet? I want to hear all about it!

[ Feferi really isn't all that good to have around if you want to get any actual setting up done, unless she's tasked to something... oops. ]

Well I haven't really thought about pricing yet, but I can't imagine I would need to ask for much. I don't have any use for the currency here really. Mostly I'm doing this for it's own sake. I haven't started anything yet, and the only designs I have so far are in my head. I'm probably going to make at least two things for Nepeta. She's told me about her matespritship, and the only way I could convince her to even try wearing something different for once was to tell her it might be nice to have some special occasion wear to look pretty for him. Zelda, on the other hand, didn't give me any specific requests, and I have a few different ideas for her. She has a perfect shape to model a wide range of styles, so I have a lot of ideas there.

[Oh well! Kanaya's happy for the company at least, and it's always nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of.]

Oh yeah, Zelda is really pretty, and she's really nice, too. You know, she's a princess too? And she told me all about her kingdom and it's laws and rules and stuff! She even wrote them up for me to keep, so I can use them as inspiration if I ever need to someday. Not that there's anything left for me to rule over, but it's fun to think about.

[Well that's a bit of a melancholy thought. Luckily Kanaya didn't need to think too much on that, she was too busy being shocked due to this revelation over Zelda.]

Wait, so she's a princess as well? She didn't tell me that. This changes my plans quite a bit then...

I wouldn't worry too much, I bet she'll like whatever it is you make for her.

If you say so. I wouldn't want to offend royalty from some other culture though.

[Kanaya turns to the pile of shopping bags, pulling out various tools and notions. She turns back to Feferi, opening a package containing a new measuring tape.]

You know... while you're here, I should take your measurements. I'm not working on anything for you just yet, but I might be soon.

Oh! Yeah, it's probably been a while, hasn't it? Okay!

[ Stepping forward, she pliantly puts her arms out, and manages to look pretty ridiculous in the process. ]

Measure me up!

[Kanaya laughs at Feferi's enthusiasm, and complies with her request. She's quite through in gathering measurements, and she records each on on her SFC. ]

[OOC: Headcanon time! What do you think of Feferi's height and general body shape? I'm thinking I'm going to actually design some of the clothing Kanaya's going to make, and knowing this gives me a better idea of how to go about it. Some people make Fef quite tall, others very short, and I'd prefer to go with whatever you think about your character.]
