My Heart's a Stereo
Characters: Dave Strider and Jade Harley
Location: Jade's Room; Coral Corral; 6
Time: IDK NOW?! Afternoon I guess
Status: Closed
Dave was thinking about what he told Feferi. God, he's such a hypocritical fuck. He could be doing the same thing with Jade. Except he apparently didn't actually have enough balls available to ask her out again. Which is kind of silly now that he thinks about it.
He'd done it once. Okay, he did it with the help of the curse, but he did nonetheless.
And maybe this Jade would feel the same right?
Wow, was he actually thinking this hard on this? When did he become the lovesick school girl who thought about their sweet nothings on their bed, wasting away, only to watch the person they love get swep-this thought is being aborted.
Dave sat up. No. Fine. He can do this. He swung his legs over the bed and made his way to Jade's room. If he was going to waste an entire morning contemplating this, he might as well just try. At worst, she'll reject him and things might be awkward. But he wasn't going to sit around and actually let this eat at him.
He knocked at her door, before folding his arms over his chest. "Hey, Harley. You got a minute?" Oh hey, his voice didn't crack. This means something positive at the very least. Dear god, you're hopeless Strider.

One white dog ear twitched at the sound of Dave's voice. She pushed herself up on her elbows and smiles at him.
"Hi, Dave! Sure. What's up?"
no subject
"I wasn't being completely honest with you when you arrived. I might've left out a few details that you might have wanted to know." Dave was aware he was really prolonging everything by rambling, but he couldn't help it.
no subject
She sat up, sitting crosslegged with her hands in her lap. She scooted over a little, giving him room to sit with her if he wanted."Actually, I was kind of curious on the details. I was gonna try asking around, but..."
It felt weird, asking strangers something like that. She's rather hear it from someone she knew. "It isn't anything bad, is it?"
no subject
"That depends. Would confessing to you count as bad to you? If so, then yes. If not...uhh."
no subject
"Confessing?" She frowned, trying to work out what he meant. It didn't quite click. "What did you confess?"
She wasn't trying to make this hard on him on purpose.
no subject
"You sure make this hard for a guy, you know that?" He can't help but laugh. This is just ridiculous. "How many times does a guy have to ask you out, jegus. Jade. I confessed that I was basically tripping over my little God Tier pajama cape for you. I'm basically on the longest fleet of stairs and falling down them with no chance of stopping. I can keep making these long winded metaphors, but seriously. I like you, Harley. Like, let's go out and make like two stupid teenagers like."
no subject
From Jade's perspective this came out of left field. When he clarified what he meant her cheeks turn a deep red. Oh. That kind of confession... She quickly looked away, staring at her hands in her lap like they were the most fascinating thing ever. She fidgeted with her skirt, playing with the hem.
"Oh, um... Jeez, this is embarrassing! I didn't think..." She trailed off awkwardly. What does one even do in this situation?
Well, if they're being honest... "Me too!" she blurted out and then paused. Wait, what? "I-I mean... I've had a little crush on you for a while." She never thought it would ever be reciprocated though.
no subject
And Dave just starts laughing. "Embarrassing? You didn't see me the first time. I tried to hide from you in my laundry. Obviously, I am the master hider of hide n' seek and it was the best place ever. You found me, so maybe it was a really shitty hiding place. That, or you have Strider senses.
His laughter dies down and he (shyly) laces his fingers with hers. "Sooo..." he finally manages to drawl out. "Where are we standing? Are we standing in the 'we're steady as fuck and no one can stop this ship' or am I still girlfriendless?"
no subject
Jade giggled. "You tried to hide under a pile of clothes? Dave, that's silly." You probably couldn't even completely fit under there, sheesh.
She smiled, face still tinged red, but she looked very pleased. She squeezed his hand and nodded. Then, belatedly realizing that didn't really answer anything, added, "I guess that means we're, um... together! I mean, I don't mind... S-So, yeah!"
What are stringing words together? This all happened so fast but she wasn't complaining.
no subject
He chuckles a bit and bumps shoulders with her. And he'd probably give her a kiss, if he wasn't too embarrassed to do it. And she might not want that, because they've only gone official for like a few minutes.
And he didn't want to move too fast anyways. They had plenty of time. At least he hoped so.
no subject
"Yeah, I'm sure it was. Brilliantly dumb!" she teased.
no subject
"You hear that? That's the sound of my extremely fragile self esteem being beaten to tiny, miniscule pieces. I thought you were better then that," he replies. There's a small smile on his face though.
no subject
"Hmm," she replied half-heartedly. Sorry, what were they talking about? She forgot.
no subject
And then he's sneaking a hand to poke at her side. Are Harleys even ticklish? This can either end terribly or wonderfully.
no subject
Jade giggled and squirmed away from him, lifting her head and shaking his hand away. Her ears twitched at being released. "Hey, watch it."
no subject
That, and he totally just tried climbing on you to pin you down so he can incite his wrath of tickling.
no subject
And then she was squirming and laughing again, trying to wiggle free. No fair at all! Maybe he was ticklish too? Well, she'll give it a try and find out. Which she did because he was in the perfect spot for a counterattack.
no subject
The sound that came out of Dave when she tickled back could only be what was probably the most horrific noise that Dave thinks he had ever made. Oh shit. Okay, so maybe he was incredibly ticklish too. She totally didn't just figure that out. Nope. He did not actually make some pseudo squeak-laugh-scream of any sort.
no subject
"Is the great cool kid Strider ticklish too? Did I just uncover the biggest secret ever?" she giggled.
no subject
Don't you dare tickle him. He will disown you.
No he won't. He's just extremely embarrassed right now.
no subject
Dave was silly.
"Oh reeeeally?" she drawled. "Is that a challenge? Hmmm?"
no subject
"That depends. If you mean by Strider isn't ticklish and therefore you shouldn't even try. Challenge accepted. I don't see why we need to actually test this out. Since when have I lied to you? Never. So this is obviously anything, but a lie."
no subject
"I think you are totally lying this time."
no subject
"Nope. Not lying. Totally telling the truth. The truth hurts, but it's right there. Large neon lights and signs and everything." Stop. Sob.
