Long, overly specific names
Where: a brand new shop on the north-east side of the plaza. The large sign over the storefront reads:
Kanaya Maryams Storefront For Commissioned Ragripping And Seamstressing
With Display Space For Artistic Clothing Creations
When: Boy, this store keeps odd hours! A small sign on the door says this business opens an hour after sundown on the surface, and closes an hour before dawn.
Who: Kanaya Maryam and anybody who's interested in her shop.
Style: I'll follow your lead.
Status: Open to the public during posted business hours, closed all other times. :P
Kanaya's shop is now open for business! The new sign was just installed, and with the hours now posted on the door she can finally flip the "Sorry But The Proprietor Of This Establishment Is Not Currently Present" sign over to it's much simpler "Welcome" side.
It's not perfect, not yet. She's only just getting started. In the picture window out front stands three naked dressforms. The interior is clean, but very bare. A simple counter stands near the back of the small shop space, next to a doorway leading to the workshop. There are no products on display here, not yet. Large amounts of colorful fabrics have been hung in the shop space, breaking up the monotony of white walls and shelves.
A single bell chimes when the door is opened, summoning the proud owner of this workshop and boutique.

[When he enters, he notices immediately that it's pretty bare, but that's fine. It is new and all and even he can't expect the racks to be full, so instead he's just looking around the place, taking it in while half keeping an eye out for the owner, who, because of his impatience and lack of observation, he still hasn't realized is Kanaya. Boy is he in for a surprise, especially when he had even thought for a second how that green used for the store front looked like an awful familiar shade. Welp, this is what he gets for glancing over things instead of reading them.]

Welcome to my establishment. I apologize for the state of-

[His mouth pulls into a tight frown and his mouth feels too dry to speak. Bur he needs to, needs to say something, but not anything regarding the lipstick in her hand.]
Kan... I--[What can he say? He murdered her, like he did Feferi... But then again he hears she murders him--and the thought's enough to turn that guilt into anger, even if he knows he deserves it. It's her fault as to why everything here is so important to him, because when he goes back, he has nothing.]
I should leawe...

[Kanaya had more to that sentence, but stopped here. She knew just what he would think a single word question like that was about, and she inserted the pause here deliberately to force that into his head. Give him a moment of panic, to think that she would start with that so bluntly. She really did want him to account for his actions, but in due time.]
Why should you leave? You would rather that we spend the rest of however long we're both stuck here running around a tiny bubble trying to avoid each other? We both know that won't work. This place isn't that large, and we both have too many shared friends. We're going to have to face each other eventually.

[He swallows hard as she continues on. It's true, he can't run forever, not to mention it was his own cowardice that got him in this situation in the first place, it wasn't about to fix it any time soon. He adverts his eyes, biting the inside of his cheek as he tries to find what to say.]
So... then what do you want me to do?
[Things are going over well enough with Feferi, but he knows Kanaya is a different story altogether.]
no subject
First of all, I want you to tell me about you and Karkat.
no subject
[That does throw him and it's obvious in the look he gives her. His eyes wide, but brows furrowed with slight confusion. Though, his mouth thins to a line when he finally puts together what she might be getting at. He glances away a moment, before his eyes flick back to her, a silence falling for a few long seconds before he finally speaks up.]
What exactly are you wantin' to know about us?
no subject
It's obvious you know what I'm getting at. I've already heard that you're flushed together. I want you to tell me what he is to you.
no subject
[Maybe a bit dramatic of an answer, but it really isn't a lie. His shoulders square as his arms cross over his chest.]
Kar an' I'we been through quite a fuckin' lot, been here for half a sweep already and we'we been a thing since day fuckin' one--howewer, we were moirails first. [He shifts a little, one foot to the other as he continues.]
He's taught me a lot, I'we changed a lot. I'm happy now because a him and there's no fuckin' way I could ewer repay him for his downright patience and kindness. He was there for me when no one else would be--despite my mistakes, despite how much I fucked ewerythin' up--but don't think for a second that he let what I did go. No, he was the one who made me realize how much of a colossal fuck up I was.
[As he's speaking, one arm raises to do some nonchalant gesturing that generally goes into play whenever Eridan speaks. Always one with the hand gestures, but his other arm is still crossing his front, hand resting just below the elbow of his other arm.]
If you're worried about a similar fate befallin' him that did you and Fef, don't. I'we learned. Maybe my word isn't as credible as it once was, but if anythin' I'd hope you'd think Kar would know what he's bloody gettin' into before pityin' someone like me.

[Kanaya again sat in silence, staring Eridan down with another blank expression. Slowly she raised her lipstick. She kept eye contact with him as she twisted the bottom, and finally broke the gaze as she applied the green side to her lips. This too is a test of sorts, to judge his reaction. It wasn't strictly necessary though... Kanaya saw surprisingly satisfied with what he had answered. Still, she wanted to see him sweat a little more. Something about the distant memory of betrayal and death made her feel a little justified in being a little bit of a bitch.]
Right. I've already had plenty of time to think about this. The only thing left was for me to see you, face to face, to hear you talk about it.
[She stores the lipstick back in her strife portfolio.,/small>]
What h happened back in the veil... happened. Or will happen. even for the events that some of us haven't experienced yet, nothing we can do here in this place can change anything there. I've been coming to terms with that, though I imagine it must be harder for others who know what awaits them. This place... amongst all the other things it might be, it is a second chance for many of us. Feferi is here. Nepeta, Equius... You.
I don't want to kill you Eridan. To tell the truth, I never wanted to. I will do what is necessary to keep my friends safe, and you know what? I really wasn't prepared to think that I might have to take action against a friend to protect the others. Even after you killed her, Even after you killed me, Even after I took you down... I never forgot that we were friends.
no subject
[It doesn't last long though, for what she spared him in physical pain, matches what she just hurled on him with emotional. She never forgot they were friends, and while he didn't either, in that moment he let the darker aspects of his person take over, he didn't even think about it. All he could think about was himself, and he knows how horribly selfish he was in all of that. Been shown and told more than enough times, so really this just makes him feel even worse, which might be what Kanaya wants, he's not sure himself.]
... I'm sorry.
[What can he honestly say other than that? He is sorry, and he still would like to make things right with her, would like to be friends again, but he's not going to push it. He's witnessed, he's experienced what pushing can do, and while there are times for it, this is not one of those times. His eyes downcast, staring at a spot on the floor, finding himself unable to tear them away, mainly because he doesn't want to. He's not sure what to do right now, what to say. There isn't anything in this moment that he can do that would take away what he did, and as much as he wishes he could merely erase his greatest mistake--he wouldn't. That'd be cowardly and avoiding responsibility and he's come to far to do something like that.]

[She got what she wanted alright, and then some. She did want to see him react somehow. To her it was good that he was afraid. It showed that he knew what the consequences would be if he forced her to take care of him again. Make no mistake, if he proved to be a further threat to anybody, Kanaya would not hesitate to deal with him. Another long moment passed before she responded to his short reply. ]
Fuck.
[She was expecting an apology, but she really wasn't ready for it to sound so sincere. What was she supposed to do with that? He promised to help her with the Matriorb, then moments later he destroyed it. He murdered her friend, his crush. He murdered her, causing her to become this... thing. Admittedly she wasn't terribly disappointed in that particular result, but still. All this happened because he somehow got it in his head that he could betray all of them by joining Jack. He turned his back on all of them before any of the violence started. In the end...]
I can't forgive what you did.
[But he just has to go and sound so damn contrite.]
But in this place, neither of us can really do anything about it, can we?
no subject
She sees the building first midday, and opts to come back later, just after evening comes, poking her head in the door before the rest of her follows. ]
Kanaya Maryam I know you are in here!
no subject
Feferi Peixes I am in here indeed. Specifically, I'm in my workspace. Please, come on back here!
[ Kanaya is just setting down a fairly heavy yet blank cardboard box onto a table. This back room is a little chaotic, with fabrics, notions, and other supplies strewn about in shopping bags.]
no subject
Oh wow! So how did all this happen?
no subject
Well, You know how the locals will give us free food, drink, and housing if we show them our symbols? I haven't been using any of that, so instead I asked them for a workspace that I could use to get back into my old hobby. I've also been getting fabrics and other supplies, and I just got this...
[And as she says "this", she lifts it out of the box, packing peanuts flying everywhere. It's a rather nice brand new sewing machine. She places it on a table that has three different lamps on it, in addition to n overhead light hanging from the ceiling.]
no subject
That is so cool! I wish I had one of those things.
[ Hopefully, Kanaya has thus far not taken a close look at some of the Pisces-symbol patches sewn onto Feferi's shirts. She did get the job done, but not in the most efficient of ways... which is to say she sort of made a mess. ]
no subject
[Kanaya noticed right away, back in their first meeting after she arrived. It's just kind of a thing she does. However, she hasn't said anything about it at all. At least, not yet.]
no subject
[ Shh don't judge her. ]
no subject
[Kanaya quickly finishes setting up the machine, plugging in a foot pedal and setting it on the floor beneath the table. ]
So what brings you to my little shop?
no subject
I saw the sign, I couldn't not come in and say hello, right?
no subject
no subject
[ Oh no, look what you've done now. ]
D:
Yes, I am rather excited about this. I mean, I don't know if you could really call them commissions, more like personal projects. I'm making some nice things for Nepeta and this lovely woman I met named Zelda. I hope to work on those to help me get back into practice with this sort of thing. It's been a while since I had the time to do any ragripping.
[Kanaya is not very good at choosing things to say to calm down an excited princess, it seems. ]
no subject
[ Feferi really isn't all that good to have around if you want to get any actual setting up done, unless she's tasked to something... oops. ]
no subject
[Oh well! Kanaya's happy for the company at least, and it's always nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of.]
no subject
no subject
Wait, so she's a princess as well? She didn't tell me that. This changes my plans quite a bit then...
no subject
[ At some point, Feferi has taken to leaning against the wall. ]
I wouldn't worry too much, I bet she'll like whatever it is you make for her.
no subject
[Kanaya turns to the pile of shopping bags, pulling out various tools and notions. She turns back to Feferi, opening a package containing a new measuring tape.]
You know... while you're here, I should take your measurements. I'm not working on anything for you just yet, but I might be soon.
no subject
[ Stepping forward, she pliantly puts her arms out, and manages to look pretty ridiculous in the process. ]
Measure me up!
no subject
[OOC: Headcanon time! What do you think of Feferi's height and general body shape? I'm thinking I'm going to actually design some of the clothing Kanaya's going to make, and knowing this gives me a better idea of how to go about it. Some people make Fef quite tall, others very short, and I'd prefer to go with whatever you think about your character.]
no subject
[ ooc; let me get back to you on that! ]
