Sure, he had figured that SOMETHING was due to happen. It was just that kind of feeling he had in his gut. Besides, all the speculation everyone was having on the network made sense. Things only seemed calm in Vatheon; behind the scenes, he knew things were brewing.

It's just... Who the heck expects to wake up as a bug?

A very... very... large bug. And initially, it had been kind of cool although embarrassing how clumsy he was. But then... it was quiet. Just, there was too much silence. The noise didn't help. It was just, stupid, useless noise. He tried to get over it, even threw out a message or two to people.

But it was just too much. Fairly quickly, Lea started to realize the signs. Hell, the last time this place had changed him into something else like this, it had taught him a lesson. Obviously he couldn't stay around the Nest or with his chocobos or Arden, or else he would do something he'd regret.

And that, dear Vatheon, is how you have a giant bug in the plaza, trying to scurry away only to stop now and then, twitching madly. At one point, he even leaps at a couple's table- not for the couple, but for a radio playing music which he desperately clings to awkwardly with his weird... tiny... bug hand things.

This is so not going to be his week.

[ooc: For the curious, Lea is now one of the Rachni from Mass Effect! Specifically one of the soldiers. They don't do well individually. Hivemind and all. For a size reference, check here.]

[Hello, resident Vatheonites! So you're just wandering through Vatheon, going about your business- maybe coming out of a store after shopping, or just taking a walk, or looking for something to do...]

[And suddenly a sleigh being pulled by a bunch of giant birds screeches to a stop in front of you.]

[(Those birds would be Chocobos, by the way, and they come in a bunch of different colors, from a very large and aggravated yellow leading, to an excited looking red, to a calm brown, a jittery blue and inquisitive green...)]

[A certain redheaded youth with facial tattoos grins like a loon and leans over the the edge of it. Apparently, he's the driver, and boy does he have a question for you!]

Do you like cake?

[Even if the sleigh doesn't stop for you in particular, Lea can be seen riding his sleigh all over Vatheon, looking ridiculously delighted.]

[Spring's around the corner! Which... usually doesn't always mean anything in a bubble where the temperature is pretty stable. But not today!! No, no, Ammy's all over the bubble today, Vatheon. Flowers are being planted, trees are sprouting up out of the ground, and it's starting to get pretty colorful!

When Ammy decides to relax, lays down under a freshly grown cherry tree, panting a bit but looking very pleased with herself.

[Gamzee has been waiting here since practically before sun-rise, and by now he is twisting uneasily in his spot, shifting from one foot to the other. His eyes are on the coral, his shoulders tense. This wouldn't be such a terrible wait if he wasn't here.

Gamzee's eyes flick for a moment, falling on Eridan with undisguised disgust.

His fangs show for a moment, but the three bodies positioned strategically between him and Eridan keep him from adding another scar, another wound, to the one already gracing the seadweller's face. As far as Gamzee is concerned, Eridan's innocence is still a fakey fake tale. His voice is a low, frustrated hiss, though he does not particularly try to keep it quiet enough to keep Eridan from hearing.]

He shouldn't fuckin' be here.

[ Good evening, Ladies and Gentlemen of Vatheon— whatever your newfound stature may be, Prince, Princess, Knight, or Peasant, you will all receive a message on your SFC on the eve of Saturday regardless:

You are cordially invited to the castle for this evening's ball. In addition, you are all welcome to try and solve the riddle if it fancies you. It just may break the curse!

The invitation is unsigned, but its intentions are clear. Maybe you hadn't quite noticed the sizeable castle in the distance of the city that had sprung up, but this message would surely garner your attention toward it now.

Should you arrive at the castle, plenty of attractions await you:

Ballroom ❧ A very large and beautiful ballroom is lighted up, complete with a playing violin orchestra. While the curtains will be drawn during this event, there is a windowed view and exit on one side of the ballroom that leads to:

Smee's Rose Garden ❧ A broad and colorful spanse of a garden, complete with many paths and turns. Plenty of roses are arranged in great arches, which provide perfect little places should you need some privacy with your sweetheart. Anyone familiar will even tell you that the garden was purposefully designed for just that sort of thing.

The Riddle ❧ There is an inscription located on a noticeable plaque set in one of the garden's benches. It reads:

Two are necessary to break this curse
Riled up, upset, what kind of love?
Only this kiss will stop it from getting worse.
Look for a winged one is push comes to shove,
Look for a glance slightly dark,
Search for a pair in reluctant love.
One answers a call; that's your mark;
One longs for patria though adverse.

Dining Hall ❧ Connected to the ballroom is an extremely long hall that stretches as far as the eye can see, elegantly arranged as the dining area. Expensive and exquisite cuisine seem to be on the menu— try something new? Chances are you won't be eating from a selection such as this again anytime soon!

Dais ❧ There is a noticeable raised dais that is easily visible via any area within the ballroom. It's locked off from guests, though— what is it for...?

WARNIGS: Death log. Non graphic decriptions of an NPC child getting attacked.

['Pan' - for that's who he was, not the paththic mockery that passed for that false life Silver or whatever it was that kept trying to trick him - paced. The two childern that he'd half-drained had long since been discarded into a holding cell somewhere with the help of his mount. Such a useful thing it was. Ungainly on land, but it was much the same with his crocodile.

Oh well. It was useful and it fit what he wanted in a pet, so he wasn't going to look a gift in the mouth.

And it looked like he was going to get another snack to day, that stupid bird-human thing. He doubted that it would 'taste' as pleasent as the childern, but... beggers could hardly be choosers right now.

Either way, 'Pan' still paced. After he'd feasted, he would have to find a more permanent home. Perhaps a castle that he could make his own? And then focuse on finding his queen - the wretch Wendy.

Though, food first, fun later.]

[Poor, poor traumatized Demyx. Lea feels for him. Kind of.]

[Maybe for him, it's just not as traumatizing, considering the kind of things he's seen Stein do. Briefly terrifying, sure, but Vatheon has desensitized this redhead. But not Demyx, despite his boyfriend being older, so he's decided that it's time for a little investigating! Mystery of the Exploding Faeries.]

[Which is just code for getting Demyx's mind off of it.]

[As the elevator takes them up to the island, Lea grins and nudges Demyx's ribs with his elbow.]

You know, I've never really explored this place that much!

[The man going around the city isn't wearing a red suit or hat. He isn't fat, and there is no white beard on his face. His nose isn't as round as a cherry, and his cheeks aren't rosy. However, his blue eyes do twinkle as he goes around, carrying a large burlap sack...]

[And he seems to be giving everyone he meets a blue or white wooden amulet, carved in the shape of a scarab with holiday greetings etched on the bottom in Egyptian hieroglyphics. He doesn't seem to single out anyone for the gifts, either- the homeless man in the alley receives the same gift and warm words that is given to the rich woman dining outside a lavish restaurant.]

[Even though he may not look like it, Jacob seems to be taking on the job of being Santa Claus incredibly well.]

A Brand New Year

The island was certainly all abuzz now. The natives mingle around, decorations abounding and food laid out on tables and still being made. They certainly went all out this time, but if asked they just respond “We’ve been granted another year by the great Lamufao.”

Don’t think about it too hard.

Either way, they’re showing all of their gratitude for the foreigners now. Food is being offered shamelessly, good cheer and compliments and thank you’s passing through each native’s lips.

Near the elevator, in an open field, the party is taking place. They nagged and nagged for the foreigners to dress up; if you didn’t, you might feel a little out of place here. But the food and the music are both excellent and dancing is optional, at least.

The beach is a bit more chill. Enjoy the warmth and the water, maybe kick back and have a drink. It’s night time, certainly, but the weather is still pleasant and the sand is warm.

More attracted by the food on those tables? That’s quite alright; there’s food of all sorts from all sorts of places, not just seafood (be grateful to the natives for trying). There are a few Vatheon only dishes, however, for the daring! (Is that more kraken on that plate…?)

And then, near midnight, comes the fireworks. How romantic would it be to exchange kisses at the stroke of midnight under the light of the fireworks? Or just enjoy them with a friend; they light up the sky, pretty and nothing too fancy…though the natives seem to think that they are incredible.

Most of all, have fun, mingle and enjoy the new year!
