[One of Night's favorite past times was going up to the island to do a number of things: hunt small wildlife, toss around in flowers, and sunbathe. The normal life of a cat, really.

But after a few recent events he feels like maybe coming up to the beach, not just by himself, but with everyone else, could be a good thing. Who didn't love being out in the sun all day?

Which is just what he does, leaving most everyone in the Villa a message asking them to join him at the beach Friday morning. It isn't a party only because he has no idea what to do or bring for a party, but the intent was to have fun and relax.]

The shinigami here are fuckin' whacked out too. Nobodies, humans, half-humans, the weirdos with the horns stickin' outta their heads and now I'm thinking I'm starting to get soft by mingling with these people. It's pissing me off and I don't know why I'm doin' it.

<sub>[Grimmjow wouldn't outright admit it, but he was actually worried Rin would make good on the threat of revoking the extra lessons. He didn't know why he was, and that worried him even more. Why should he care about that?

[Rin watches him out of the corner of his vision, still prodding at the food on the grill, the scowl in his face slowly turning in to something more sad and distant.

Why indeed. A few years ago he might have had a similar mentality, but he knows now, looking back, just how damned lonely he really was. He has his family, sure, but even that was a strained relationship waiting to snap.

And when it did...

He waited until Grimmjow's rant was over before answering properly, though.]

You can be fuckin' around and not dating, you can date and not fuck, you can do both. It just depends on the people involved. Maka and I just... don't want that right now. It happens.

[Okay, really, Maka doesn't want to and Rin is fine with that because he respects her enough to not push the issue.

He paused here, taking that finished hot dog off the grill and putting it on a bun, handing it over.

Take your stupid hot dog, ya big baby.]

Humans don't like to be alone. At least not completely alone. Friends, family, romantic relationships... hell, a random conversation with a guy on a train just because you two happened to be wearin' the same shirt or whatever! We're... social, y'know? Why do you think we're up here on the beach havin' fun with each other? It ain't a bad thing to just wanna connect with some one, even for a few minutes.

[he sighed softly after that, glancing up at all the people gathered there. New friends, old friends, family... they were all these things to Rin.]

There was a point in my life when I convinced myself I didn't need anyone. People were scared of me and I acted like that was just fine because why should I put up with their bullshit if they weren't gonna give me a chance?

But deep down I hated it. And then I finally made friends.

I stand up for them 'cause I care about them. And I fight for them when they can't fight for themselves. I just wanna protect everyone I care about, and yeah, it's stupid and I get in trouble for it a lot, but I ain't ever gonna stop carin' about them.

_{[Grimmjow still isn't sure what he considers the few people he's close to. Celes is the closest he has to a 'friend', but the concept was still relatively foreign to him. Whatever friends and family he had before he became a Hollow were long gone by now, whether it be from his own hand or some other unseen force.]}

I used to have a couple people follow me around. For whatever reason they wanted me to lead 'em and all that shit after I took a chunk outta one of their buddies. We went to the living world awhile back and outta the six of us, I was the only one to go back. Can't say we were friends but they weren't too bad to have around.
